I was lucky enough to be a part of that audience and gained so much confidence in my ability to sing after getting to sing alongside thousands of others that evening.
I really appreciate that you were able to dig into some of the technicalities of what they were doing, but once he started conducting the audience, your analysis was a smile and a tear. The simplicity, but overwhelming energy of that few minutes is part of the magic of music.
This was marvelous, the performance was exquisite and, as usual your reaction was both informative and expressive. I was particularly taken by the delight you showed in your face as you listened which, because you express so well, I could both sense and feel myself. Wonderfully done.
I enjoy how Jess points out the subtle details and decisions that the performers make that all add up to a truly powerful piece of music. I have always found this performance beautiful and moving and now I have all new reasons to appreciate the artistry that went into it.
Love this performance, my first time hearing it. Laufey led me here... Will definitely be looking up the other two artists. If i can be a bit bold , can you react to Eythor Ingi, She's Gone or Going to California (covers) He is mindblowing.
Oh, wow! What a gorgeous performance! *happy sigh* I've seen clips of Jacob conducting the audience, but never caught the whole thing. Clearly, I've been missing out! Super informative reaction, as always, Jess. I enjoyed all the singers and will definitely be diving into all the artists. If I were going to pick out a favourite part, I'd have to say... Laufey's voice. Absolutely Hear the 'pause' between ending the sound and taking a breath. I like the... movement I think this technique imparts and the anticipation it creates for the next phrase. And, omgosh, the richness of her voice! Like warm chocolate. Lol. Okay, I'm done nerding out for the moment. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Jess!!
It's like.... it's like music just flows through him and he can direct it anywhere. Through his fingers into any instrument, through his mouth in any style... and even through the audience, including members who didn't even know they could sing...
In case you hadn't heard, Laufey is the most popular jazz artist around these days (according to Spotify views) even though she really isn't jazz at all. She's worth checking out along with Raye. Too many brilliant Collier songs to name them all.
She actually said that she has gotten her throat examined while singing, doctors they don’t know how she’s been able to sing the notes like that but she is the only person that can do this. As far as she knows. She also doesn’t have any control over how long or when she’s able to do it.
Great video. Would be Great to see your reaction on his ONLY VOICE videos where he harmonizes in very complex and difficult ways. A lot of 13, 11, 9, 7 chords, augmented, diminished etc chords :)
You need to do Lisa Fischer's live version of "How Can I Ease the Pain". Even for folks like me who aren't particularly into that type of 90s R&B, it's one of the most masterful vocal performances ever. She is a vocal freak of nature.
I know this song by The New Christy Minstrels called "Go, Lassie Go". From their 1965 album "The Wandering Minstrels". It has slightly different lyrics. The vocals are amazing.
Don’t know if anyone has ever mentioned it, but it would be amazing if you reacted to Park Kiyoung singing Nella Fantasia. She’s friends with Sohyang. She has a opera background as well and performed in the same shows as sohyang
Great reaction/analysis for a moving moment of music! A great example of Laufey’s music is From the Start ua-cam.com/video/lSD_L-xic9o/v-deo.htmlsi=eHSM4kqmliy7Ofex
More Jacob Collier Please! His live version of "Little Blue" is fantastic.
And world oh world with footage of the recording as well! Stunning choral piece 😊

I'm so jealous! :)

At 0:40 Dodie looks to be reacting (positively) to Jacob's singing. So nice to see - public respect from one musician to another.

PLEASE react to more of these three! They are all absolutely gorgeous and immensely talented musicians!!
+1 for more Jacob Collier reactions!
His rendition of Moon River is another good one.
Yes! Please please please react to Jacob Collier’s arrangement of Moon River! It’s magnificent!
@@PaarthGuptaYT I third this recommendation! react to moon river if you want your mind blown! amazing!
1 month lat er, I'm +1 for this as well
He’s a generational talent! Hopefully he composes an opera at some point!
I know it’s not an opera, but check out his choral arrangement of World o Worlds
Just as a challenge, he'd probably compose it in Klingon or Dothraki.

This performance healed me to my core, I won't be elaborating on that, just thank you ❤
Excited you love Dodie's voice. It's special. You should listen to more.

It's almost like a magic trick how he gets the audience to harmonize.

Living in a time of division, wars and the rise of fascism, the music of Jacob and friends brings healing and hope.
Woah this video is incredible
React to Jacob Collier's 'World O World'
Kudos to Jacob and Jules Buckley for the orchestral arrangement, which he did at his concert at Royal Albert Hall several years ago.
I love Jacob ❤❤❤ kisses from Italy 😘😘😘
you need to react to Jacob, Tori and John singing Bridge Over Troubled Water live.....
I would love to hear you do an analysis of Jacob Collier and Alita Moses "In Too Deep".

I started to tear up two bars in...
Jeff buckley's Dido's lament (cover), Corpus Christi Carol is beautiful. Also Chris Cornell's Ave Maria (cover) is amazing.
