I have been using my DIY one for years and always been curious about upgrading for faster speed of cool down. Excited to see you put this through some tests to see what she can do!

The DIY just wasn’t cutting it past my 5G batches. Love the counter flow/Glycol(Or Fermentation chamber) to bring it down to pitching temps.
Can’t wait to see what this does too!

Excellent purchase and there packaging is consistent as I've ordered two of the Scyllas and both came packaged just like your Hydra. If your not sure of your water flow or what hose to use, grab a $20 flow meter off Amazon as it was showed me not all hoses are created equal. Plus you can measure volume inbound or outbound if you think you have hit the maximum capacity of the hydra. The amount you can pump though it really impacts its performance greatly.

Interesting, what ID hose do you use with your chiller?

@@HopKillerBrewery Cheap 1/2" ID and I don't remember the GPH as I'd have to go through my old testing video to see but I do remember using a 3/8" first and was shocked at how much an extra 1/4" inch made in the ability to chill the wort considerably faster.

I am excited for the review. I am still trying to figure out this chilling thing.

Right on! You can’t go wrong with any immersion chiller at first, it’s simple and easy.

You’ll like it !! I usually get a cone inside the chiller when I whirlpool. Really excited to see what you think and see if I should get a counterflow or stick with my jaded

That’s good to hear! I usually only leave .25-.5 of a gallon worth of wort in the kettle if using my counterflow. Hopefully this is comparable!
