Sorry! We forgot to mention the beautiful shells in the round-up! Tom found them and gave them to me (Alex). We have never seen shells from UK shores of that size before! Has anyone got any idea what creatures made them? Gail & Alex x
They are called dog winkles, here in New England. A predatory sea snail, not edible like periwinkles are. The unexpected bottle dump was amazing, the bottles were Victorian. Have you ever found any Victorian pot lids? Peace & Happiness...Cheval
It's so funny to me to call yourself northern you don't sound northern funny thing is I'm called Gail and I am northern from Gateshead lmao you sound so posh lol
Hey, Not sure what you're on about? Mum was born in Wallsend next to the shipyards but grew up abroad so never developed an accent. I was born in Hexham and grew up locally in Northumberland. You don't need a strong northern accent to be from the North lol. Alex & Gail x

Lovely video; your videography is so good Alex and your enthusiasm for history and mystery is a joy to behold. It really was a pleasure meeting you both, and thank you so much for such an effusive endorsement of my channel 🙂
I have been a Motion Picture Technician for the last 30 years, I am a Gaffer, and whomever it is that is the Cinematographer, is doing an exceptional job.
I just love watching you and your mother explore together. So many precious memories together. Also the treasure bits and pieces you find are just amazing! Enjoying your channel from the US.
I love that Tom is with you on this mudlark, he's one of my favorites. Absolutely beautiful bottles at the surprise bottle dump! Thanks for giving Tom the nice shout out, he's a great guy. I love your tiny Hag stones 🧡
Fabulous finds, far too many to tell you my favourites or we'll be here all night! Lovely to see you together with Tom :) It's great to mudlark with good company :D
Thank you guys! 😊 It was wonderful larking with Tom. I think saw you were coming up to Holy Island or Berwick? We would love to meet up and have an adventure together sometime? Gail & Alex x
We are going on a road trip in April, so will be near Berwick for a few days. We'd love to come on a mudlark with you both! It sounds like great fun :D
I have been watching Tom for some time now. I love his voice an dthe scenes he shows plus the way he is always cleaning up the places he goes. Susann I also watch every event you have, I wish you all your things on your list even though I cannot contribute. but maybe someday.
The hag stone that you found looks like a cartoon of a dino head. I love collecting rocks that I see images in. Love your videos, they are so peaceful, thank you.
Add a torch to your kit so in case you make a find at dusk you can have some light to explore further.Quite the instinct for finding bottle dumps, great skill to have for mudlarkers! :-)
do you want to show us some of your collection? I would love to see your found marble collection for example! and I would also love to see more jewelry-making videos, also from you alex!
Tom was my first experience of UA-cam mudlarking. I was browsing around looking if there was anyone on here who liked beachcombing on holiday as much as I do and came across his channel and I’ve been hooked on larking ever since although I’ve yet to find anywhere local to me to have a go. I love his videos! Amazing luck stumbling across that bottle dump!
The bauble that was gifted to you should be UV glass on the green spots. It's part of a garden ornament that glows. I have one, and mine does. Lovely find.
I love y’all and Tom I’ve been waiting for y’all to do a Collaboration for a long time! Y’all both have such good music and relaxing interesting content!
A lovely outing, ladies, with another wonderful mudlark! I've been subscribed to Tom for some time now and enjoy his videos very much! You had a great day, and the discovery of the bottle dump was awesome! Thanks so much for taking us along!😊
That brick is probably from the same place as the slag glass, it looks like the air inlets for a foundry, quite old too as it's obviously hand made! Excellent find! Alex, skulls are amazing natural sculptures! I've collected quite a few over the years.... I feel that not only are they very.... organically beautiful?.... but they hold the personality of the species... don't ever be embarrassed to see the beauty in nature, even from it's more macabre side. :)
Tom!! I'd recognize those wellies anywhere. So he remains the mysterious, elusive larker. Looks like you had an amazing day all around, from the banks of the river to the bottle dump. What an amazing adventure! Thrilled for you.
Hello from the East Coast of Canada, gorgeous Prince Edward Island! While we are home to dozens of lovely, sandy beaches, where mudlarks abound, they are currently under ice and snow! So...doubly enjoying your larks!
I am glad to see you joining up with Tom, I am a subbie of his too. Thanks so much for taking us along. I love all the glass with patterns and the beautiful marble.
Hallo New Year!!! I wanted to reply to your query re my great great grandmother's jugs with all the interesting bits glued to them: no, sadly I haven't got them anymore but I did find out what that form of folk art is called. Memory Jugs! Not an isolated form of art, and I had no trouble finding many examples and even some eerie folk tales connected to them! Gotta go, there's a new Northern Mudlarks video out and I haven't seen it yet!!
Wow you really do have a nose for a bottle dump! Wish we could aquire a bit more of that skill haha. Cool you met up with Tom the balls he found were beautiful and the skull always love a skull :)
The little class green vile as you called it , I believe it is a candle that was attached to electricity string for christmas lights. They were surrounded by a glass or foil to make them look brighter. I grew up with such lights on the tree. Susann
Great Video. I have been watching Tom's videos for a long time and enjoy them as well. Nice to see that you came across a new bottle dump. You will have to go back to that for another video to see what you can find there. Loved the first video of the new year. You and your mom take care. Your friend Steve Bonds from Bay City Michigan USA
When the marmalade jars have the 'ribs' close together like that, that pattern is called 'reeded'. Maybe at one time patterns were made on old handmade pots using reeds, possibly pressing a reed mat against the clay?
Two of my favorite mudlarks! So glad you spent time with Tom! I’ve been a fan of his since he started! He is a man of mystery 😉 that’s ok. I love his style of vlog. Wonderful finds this outing!
Those stoneware jars once cleaned would make nice house warming or hostess gifts. Fill them with spatulas, wooden spoons, and other kitchen gadgets and you have a great gift!. I have a small crock I found in a dump and I have it next to my stove filled with ladles and spoons I often use while cooking. My brother was in The Coast Guard and stationed in Kodiac for several years. There was a beach he went to that was always deserted except for glass balls much like yours that Tom gave you. He was told they were part of Japanese fishing nets. They had a loop blown on to it and it was enclosed so a net was sewn onto it and it kept the nets floating on top of the water. Each fisherman had his own color or design glass balls and that is how nets were identified.
35:00 I have a little bulb exactly like that! I found mine in the woods near my cabin. I think somebody may have used it as a decoration in their garden and it got lost during a storm. I only have a small collection of a few bottles and rocks and stuff, so finding it was really cool.
Loved the video, we had a holiday in Berwick last year staying at spittle beach we found sea glass I just wish we had walked round under the bridges you found some great bits and bobs, keep up the great work ladies.
Just love your channel so much!! And thank you for not having ads!! Makes it even more enjoyable not being interrupted by all the ads!! Happy hunting!!
The bauble is modern, similar to one I have myself. When blown the top is a thick bit with a little twist ring to put a cord through. You can find them in any craft shops and garden centres.
So happy to see your first Vlog of 2020. I have been watching Tom for sometime, just lovely. Thank you☮️🇨🇦Also Alex, I collect skulls as well, I find them fascinating.
So fabulous to see you and your mum 😺👍!! Always looking out for your next new and exciting adventure. I saw those interesting big shells at the "clean up" at the end of your vlog and was very curious about them. So wonderful Tom gifted them to you ladies 😁. LOVED the vlog. You lovely ladies take care and always be safe. See ya soon 🤗.
Hello again! Nice to have you along with us 😄 Mum looked them up this morning and said they are called common whelks and they were probably caught by local fisherman and discarded into the river after they were eaten! See you on our next adventure 😊 Gail & Alex x
Broken bottles can have their tops cut off with diamond cutter and turned into small vases so's not to go to waste , if they are smoothed out they can be turned into drinking glasses , should you choose . What a lovely sport you gals are into . Wish i could do the same.
Lovely video! I'm very jealous of all of your amazing finds. Those giant snail shells covered in worm trailings are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
I feel like it would be really if you strung together a bunch of pieces of pipe stems together like beads to make a long necklace out of them. It would be a rather modern look made out of pieces of history.

The glass bauble reminds me of Van Gogh's The Starry Night.
I love this. I am a follower of Tom, Nicola and Sci- finds and i found you a couple of months ago. I love it all.
Alex we would love to see your skull collection :)
I am thinking of doing a little tour of my collection on the end of a future video maybe

Wow Tom I found u again beautiful video love it now I follow new friends too have a amazing afternoon thank u Tom 👍
Have Tom take you to the dump he took Nicola to! You will freak out! It was amazingly loaded with thousands of bottles and lead toys, etc... Cheers!
Thankyou for sharing your adventure. I think that bauble is lovely.
I think that piece of wood would cool down glass blowing rods and shape a glass bottle. Love your relationship. Always stay close!
Have you ever considered cutting the pipe stems into bead size and making necklaces out of them?
killi mimes Wonderful idea👍😊😍
That one piece you found looked like a early dipiction of the Goddess. Great finds!! Love the bottle dump
Barbara Catalano, that's exactly what I thought too!
The Venus of Willendorf
ageed... I was a bit shocked Alex didnt see it too...she may have missed something ancient lol
I thought the same .
The sea glass with patterns is so cool. Thank you for another fabulous video with lots of wonderful information and history.
My my Tom has been busy. He has had some lovely company lately.
I love that Tom is with you on this mudlark, he's one of my favorites. Absolutely beautiful bottles at the surprise bottle dump! Thanks for giving Tom the nice shout out, he's a great guy. I love your tiny Hag stones 🧡

The green not to be taken bottle would make a nice vase, all you need to do is sand the broken edge a little
That's what I thought too...
The bauble reminds me of the glass plant self-waterers with the stem broken off
All those glass pieces would look nice together as a mosaic wall piece or table top or even a pieced together for a stained glass window mosaic.
I never believed in paranormal activity until I experienced it for myself. Welcome to the club!
I found you first and now I am spoiled with your wonderful videos. The others don't compare to yours. It must be the two of you ladies💗😍
Love your videos so much I’m going back and watching them again 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
