    Wow, that was so kind... You said you want to empathise with him and want him to leave him feeling good, so I offered him $500 for a guitar I think is worth $700-800, after he drove downtown to meet me. You are all heart. As long as you say I want to leave him feeling good, but totally try to take advantage in reality, it's all good. I'm sure dude was just really happy to deal with you.

    Godin a Canadian maker harvests wood in Quebec and has access to old growth. I heard they have a contract with the provincial government to harvest trees that are downed by storms. Under Godin are several companies my favourite being Simon and Patrick. I own an all solid wood 00 ( bit bigger than a parlour) woodland pro folk. It has a split headstock and butterbean tuners and it is my favourite acoustic of all time. 799$ Canadian. Highly recommended. Looks like a pre war Gibson and Martin had a love child.

    In all honesty, this video left a slightly sour taste in my mouth. I love my Larrivee but I see now that it probably has more sentimental value than actual market demand. That's a shame because I'd put the workmanship that went into it above some of the stuff that comes out of Asia or eastern Europe.

    So being “aboundingly sympathetic” you offered $500 for a guitar that you said yourself might be worth $850 (w/pu). You paid $650 to a guy who wasn’t working and had bills to pay and beat him out of 200. So you hustled him ...good for you

  • @colinpadley1897

    I'm sorry but offering $200 less than its worth isn't a good deal for him but he was probably intimidated through lack of experience, he should have held out and got the right price, I would never go to the buyer unless we'd previously agreed a price, overwise it looks like the seller is desperate and puts him on the back foot.

    Great guitars. I bought my DV-03E in 2000. It plays and sounds like a dream. I have convinced several people to get Larrivee's after they played mine. My next favorite acoustic guitar is either a Santa Cruz or Goodall, but they aren't even close to being under $1000. Thanks for the content.

    I think you guys are being a little too hard on him. That was a $700 guitar all day long on ebay/reverb back in 2018. Also its not the best know brand or a cutaway, so its not easy to find a buyer even online. $650 was a far deal for the seller to not deal with fees, shipping, returns etc.. and get cash. I do miss those cheaper prices😃

    Jeremy I’m starting to try to flip guitars for extra cash. What percent is the sweet spot? I try to be honest with people and say I’m going to resell but as I’m just starting out I’m not sure what %?should I be expecting to make per ax?

    • @JeremySheppard
      @JeremySheppard  5 років тому +1

      Price Keene I don’t have a percentage per se. what I do is usually show interest and appreciation for their gear then make an offer explaining “here’s what I can offer, it’s not asking price but it is cash in hand today.” I don’t lead with reselling. If they don’t come down I’ll explain I’m now a retail buyer.
      People rarely get frustrated with that.
      As for percentages, I’m typically aiming to make 20-30%. Some guys go 50% but I can’t do that to people.

    Good morning brother. I really enjoy your videos. I am in the market for a new guitar because I am trying to learn to play at 50 years old.... I was wondering if you might consider reviewing a particular guitar in the $ 500.00 range.? It is a RD-16 with a Adirondack torrified top by The Recording King guitar company. I really want a Martin but, can't see spending the money until I learn to play. I would really appreciate your review and opinion before I make a purchase of a guitar, especially on that particular model. Thanks, for your time. Keith. Romans 8:28-31

    What's with so many small body acoustics having a 25.5" scale length?
    Even trying to find vintage, non-laminate acoustics with a short scale is tricky. It's a shame, too, because I prefer the slightly subdued attack of a sub-25" neck when recording.

      mauvaise expérience très marginale avec une guitare qui a vécu de très grandes variations de température probablement avant votre achat (je suppose que ce n'est surement pas vous qui lui avez fait subir de mauvais traitements...) et ce même si elle était neuve, je suppose. Il arrive parfois que la guitare a un historique avant même qu'elle quitte le magasin. Désolé pour vous car c'est une très bonne guitare et Larrivée guitares ne perd pas de valeur au contraire, elles sont appréciées de plus en plus par les amateurs comme les professionnels. J'en ai une L-03 depuis plus de 20 ans et c'est un vrai bijou qui n'a pas peur d'une Martin ou d'une Taylor. Bonne chance !
