"Your situation doesn t define who you are. You define who you are. " This , the end and all of the interview really spoke to me. I appriciate the guest for being deep, honest and raw during this interview.
This interview gave me a empathy. I'm done drinking. No more. The same money I was gonna use to buy beer, I'm just gonna buy me some juice instead. It's time for a change. Thank you DMC. 🙏
Thank you Tom for interviewing Daryll, and thank you Daryll, for sharing your story! It made me laugh, and brought tears to my eyes! You are an amazing incredible human being! Keep inspiring others, as you inspired me!
I met him at San Diego Comic-con a few years ago and he was so cool. Thank you for this interview. It gave me so much inspiration. It's what I needed to hear.
Loved, loved, loved this interview! "Especially appreciated hearing Mr. McDaniels sharing of the following: 1) I stopped being Darryl, so Darryl stopped. 2) Don't be afraid of being yourself no matter your circumstances. 3) "Your situation doesn't define who you are, you define who you are." 4) Your vibration is who you are. Wow! You did it again Tom Bilyeu. Just what I needed to hear, can't wait to share with my husband. Thank you for having Darryl "DMC" McDaniels on the show. And, thank you Darryl McDaniels for sharing your story with us. By the way, it sounds like you have a great business partner. Most appreciative. Blessings always.
Got a chance to hear RUN DMC in Jersey years back. They did not seem themselves then, but I have always admired their music and talent. They changed the course of music. DMC is Legendary for sure.
Ive had waves of chills watching this...his energy and passion is INFECTIOUS!!! Im litterallly sitting in my car at my office parking garage crying happy tears. Raising Hell was my first vinyl purchase, and Son of Byford was the song i memorized day 1 of listening to it. Ive had some profound aha moments watching Impact Theory, but this episode...i cannot begin to touch on the flurry of excitement and joy im feeling with words.💝💝💝💝💝
DMC's authenticity in his bullied childhood, depression, and journey of self-realization will have lasting impact with me. The ability to find your inner hero and drawing strength from a place of true passion. Thank you for sharing the story.
Favorite video so far. This video felt like I witnessed 40 minutes of authenticity and so glad he didn't get in between and let the flow roll. Usually his interviews are about understanding but DMC made me feel & experience what he was saying.
Wow. Moved by the Sarah Mc story (10-13 minutes). There have been many motivational people on your show Tom but this touched me deeply. Depression and self doubt is only one slip away for many people but for people to know it's only one step to redemption is a beautiful thing. Being present for just one moment is all it takes to lift the fog of hate. Beautiful DMC my new hero. So authentic and vulnerable. What a guy. He might have changed Rap, Music, Fashion, Culture and more in the 80s and 90s but he has the power to change 'men' and the perception of mental illness. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Thank you Tom and team.
Great interview. Hey Tom add Dee Snider in your guests list. He is a another superhero . Recently I read his book" Shut up and give me the mic"and was amazed with his story. An icon of the metal scene in the 80s ,. Amazing work ethic , discipline, determination. Nothing was given to him free. Please research and contact him as soon as possible, it will be an amazing interview.
This is like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Sometimes you’re already standing on what you truly need to be “successful”. DMC went on this journey to find he already was doing what he loved most! Side note: Paulo Coelho would be a good guest to have!
Trying to watch this very early in the morning, low volume to respect my housemates, but when DMC just started singing loudly...I probably made some enemies 😅
Even though it's less of an interview and a bit more like a monologue from DMC I'm actually really glad Tom didn't interrupt him at all. Darryl is a fantastic storyteller that has great insights that tie together the pivotal events and influences of his life, including the seemingly mundane things most people would overlook. Frankly, I could have listened to him for a few more hours. He's got one hell of a story and it's far from over. Bring him back again, Tom!
I doubt that it bothered him because he's so enthralled by storytelling and mythology. I think he was probably fascinated by the way DMC's mind works. Also, I hope my original comment doesn't seem to imply that Tom ever interupts any of his guests. What I meant is that this time he simply couldn;t get a word in because DMC is so animated and passionate. I gotta watch this one again just because it's so damn interesting.
Amazing video! Love DMC! One piece of feedback, I really liked it better when you listed the person's name in the video title. Awesome video though guys! This interview kicked ass! Alex
I LOVE how unique all of your guests are, Tom. What they all have in common is their passion and desire to make an impact on the world. What is so fascinating is the very different ways in which they do. They share core values but express them in a way that aligns with their unique character. They're real world super heroes and your show is the "comic book" that allows us to peer inside their world and understand how they came to be. It allows us to believe that we can also become a superhero, just like Darryl described in this interview. Please never stop making content! It's a constant source of mental energy and fuel in my life. Thank you for all that you and your team do!
Me too! I can't get enough! And I don't even want to imagine where I'd be today if I had never started listening to this content. My mental mindset has grown leaps and bounds.
Yo!! Maan this is so powerful and inspirational to me. I grew up with comics, cartoons, tv series, video games and Kung fu movies to name a few things. Many of which were before my time (87) but because of where I was livin, I got to experience shows from the 60s to 90s that kids out in the US who were my age didn’t know of at the time. I was also the kid with the glasses and the straight a’s hopping around different international schools over in Saudi, while just immersing myself in different worlds when I was at home where I could just be myself. Or doing martial arts so I could be a ninja turtle. I’m hella resonating with all that y’all talked about. When I discovered hip hop it was gold. The music and dances took a hold of me at the time. Even though it was round 2k in Cali when I discovered the four elements of hip hop and all that jazz of the 80s, i vibed Out with the breakin, scratchin, emcee, graff steez while trying to find my own voice or movment of creation while watching anime. I feel like I’ve damn near forgotten parts of myself over the past few years. This is a great reminder of where I’ve been and part of where I’ve been wanting to go in my personal skills development. Tryna be the ultimate polymath superhuman in this universe. Tom, Darryl, I’m glad y’all are in this world. This interview is amazing. Thank you.
This one of of those interviews that made me say OMG! when I saw it. I grew up on Run Dmc and had all their songs memorized! LOVED seeing this part of him that I never even knew existed. The fact that he's into comics is amazing! (I had an enormous collection that I gave away :-/ when I moved to Brazil for a few months some years ago). However the part that made me laugh out loud in the car was when he recited the Furious Five's rap (the 5 Mc's make it sound as 1). He was sweating and blown away ... which is the same way he and Run made me feel back n da day. Another great interview! Thanks Tom :-)
"You're so busy overlooking it..." Yep, amazed by him and his truth speaking it freely. Darryl, I used to live in rural MO where there were very few African-Americans and I heard more racist comments there than anywhere. My friends and I listened to Run DMC, The Sugarhill Gang, Midnight Star, Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5. I'm so glad you are still here. That music was a connection to something very different for us, and it was sort of transporting. Thank you for doing this interview and revealing so much, and thank you to Tom for getting him on the show. This was very stirring. I just made my first music video: ua-cam.com/video/Wy_X8NMpGkg/v-deo.html It is instrumental piano, no vocals. Thank you, Darryl, not only for your music.
What was that artists name and song he was talking about. Can someone please write it for me. I don't understand how to spell it so i can't search for it. thanks.
To me, hip-hop has always been about overcoming the struggle, speaking your truth, and standing in your power. It's not just a style of music, it's a way of life. Here's an original hip-hop song of mine about my real life super heroes. Thanks for all you do Tom: ua-cam.com/video/B-h1iGxR60U/v-deo.html
I PROMISE IMPACT THEORY HAS ME ANTICIPATING TUESDAYS LIKE ALBUM RELEASES USED TO DO!!! SUCH GREAT INFORMATION AND PEOPLE TO LEARN FROM. THANK YOU FOR THIS CHANNEL AND COMPANY MR. BILYEU!!

Thank you for having him on your show. He’s brilliant, vulnerable and humble. ❤️

"Your situation doesn t define who you are. You define who you are. " This , the end and all of the interview really spoke to me. I appriciate the guest for being deep, honest and raw during this interview.
Absolutly wonderful !!!
This interview gave me a empathy. I'm done drinking. No more. The same money I was gonna use to buy beer, I'm just gonna buy me some juice instead. It's time for a change. Thank you DMC. 🙏
Tom looks so captivated! Wheels were turning for sure
Thank you Tom for interviewing Daryll, and thank you Daryll, for sharing your story! It made me laugh, and brought tears to my eyes! You are an amazing incredible human being! Keep inspiring others, as you inspired me!
There's something about DMC's voice that's captivating. This is the only Impact Theory I can't bear to play on 1.25x speed.
my favorite episode so far...
Awesomely done
I met him at San Diego Comic-con a few years ago and he was so cool. Thank you for this interview. It gave me so much inspiration. It's what I needed to hear.
One of the best interviews.
Daryl is like a child who will never grow up. Love him.
So inspiring, thank you!
First time see Tom so quite during an interview!!
Great interview!! Thank you!!!
I could actually smell the comic books at 16.55! What a trick!
I still wear shell toes because of Run DMC. Love it
Niiiiiice!
Loved, loved, loved this interview! I love DMC. Just finished reading his book! Great interview!
Just awesome

Gold at the end. "Your situation doesn't define who you are, you define who you are."

Agreed.
I LOVE this. He def got his message thru to me
Thanks Tom
This was one of the best interviews done on impact theory. So interesting to hear about everything he went through and what he is doing now.
Favorite video so far. This video felt like I witnessed 40 minutes of authenticity and so glad he didn't get in between and let the flow roll. Usually his interviews are about understanding but DMC made me feel & experience what he was saying.
God ..what a lovable down to earth man ..love him

Tom, thank you so much for this and Mr. DMC deep respect. You both shape the world in ways beyond you can believe. Peace.

Tom, your show and the people you bring on kept me alive and fighting too. Thanks for the immense value. Deep deep respect.

Definitely top three I’ve watched so far

Incredible interview, sharing. Thanks Tom and DMC!

Paul Thomas I was wondering if it was just me thinking that. I wonder if Tom was upset that the episode was kinda changing directions on him.
I doubt that it bothered him because he's so enthralled by storytelling and mythology. I think he was probably fascinated by the way DMC's mind works. Yes, some interviewers would have interrupted him, which would have ended his flow.
What a really great episode went thru a whole lot of emotions in this one 😎
Man i love this 💕
So glad!
He's pretty cool
Definitely top three I’ve learned so far
Best interview you've ever done!!!
Holy crap this is awesome
Short sweet and to the point!🖒👌
I have three "mentors," you being one. Guys like this help solidify that dreams go on, life goes on. Stand up on that desk!
Who are the other two ?
Saatvik the other two are Darren Hardy and Grant Cardone.
Saatvik the other two are Darren Hardy and Grant Cardone.
Music has saved my life many times...both listening and creating it. What a powerful story. Thanks for sharing.
Tom, loving your channel. This is another great video! I can’t tell you how much of a difference your work has made in my life!

What a legend, and then repping the LP shirt as well... Mad props from the least hip-hop human in the world.
Amazing video! Love DMC!
One piece of feedback, I really liked it better when you listed the person's name in the video title.
Awesome video though guys! This interview kicked ass!
Alex
I have been listening to Sarah McLachlan on REPEAT since the story at 6:20 ;-)
Wow. This was great!
Amazing! I could relate so much to DMC. Thank you for this empowering video!
I LOVE how unique all of your guests are, Tom. What they all have in common is their passion and desire to make an impact on the world. Epic interview!
Can anyone please put a link of the song that changed his life?

I love all your guests but DMC was by far my favorite!!! He was awesome! I didn't want it to end. Thanks for all your amazing content!! ❤
Where can we buy your T--shirt Tom?
I liked so much hearing DMC!!! He is so funny! The interview was too short!
What an utterly charming, unguarded man. He hypnotises and seduces with his authenticity.
Had no idea of the Angel story. Bro, that was beautiful 🙏🏻
Mine is anime and manga. Dmc we shall meet 1 day. U2 tom. Thanks 4 this video
What is the song that " saved" him? Didn't catch that
Great episode. I'm sober now but I struggled with addiction but I found my outlet. Photography and videography. :)
