Thanks so much. Don't hesitate to put up videos of whatever kind of rigs you like on your channel; we are not in a competition of any sort! Best wishes, Don
Thanks so much. Float tubes obviously present a challenge for mounting a fish finder, but what a confidence booster when a system like the FTF mount is strapped on! Best wishes, Don
Thanks, Jim. Haven't been fishing a whole lot lately, but after catching that slob I figured it was time to finish the comparison video. Float tube going to rest fairly soon due to cold water and then the pontoons come out for crappie! Don
Thanks so much, John. I've been a fan of the Fishin' Buddy for years and, with no disrespect intended, wanted to show how the FTF system makes more sense. Right now I'm working on a video to showcase the FTF magnetic transducer mount system. It is totally ingenious for canoes, Jon boats, and single hull kayaks. I'm honored that FTF has asked me to put their amazing products to the test. All the best to Jeanne! Don
Thanks, Matt! She's a real trooper to put on waders and step into 55 degree water, that's for sure. We're working on all the mechanics of float tubing and various methods like crankbaits, jigs, buzz baits and so forth. Hopefully I'll get her on the river this winter and we will catch tons of crappie in my pontoons! 16 days to gun season....not much suspense on my end since the herd of deer is even bigger this year.... :) Don
Very good question. Because I've had really good success with a variety of wacky rigged Bear Paws baits (especially the Hippie Stix), my personal preference for Bear Paws is a result of high confidence in them in the places and at the times I use them. At other locations and times, I will use a Strike King or G. Yamamoto stick bait, or a Zoom product (such as the Fish Doctor). You'll need to do a comparison test in the places you fish to find the answer to the question you asked.
Thanks Skip and I agree completely....except (of course) about burdening my sis.... ha! I have used a Fishin' Buddy since the mid-90's when the first ones came out (made by Eagle). They work good but obviously the FTF mount makes more sense. Next project is to use it for vertical drop shotting; should be interesting. Don
Don, You clearly show that the FTF system is superior! The transducer extender of the Humminbird is a real handicap. In the shallow lake where I fish (12 ft. max.) the inherent, two-foot inaccuracy would be a real nuisance. As you pointed out so ably, it also looses out on portability, its exposure to weed entanglement, and its susceptibility to underwater collision. Thanks for another terrific video! My best to Brenda and Sis! --- John
Thanks for asking! FTF does make a magnetic transducer mount system (way cool) for single hull kayaks, canoes, Jon boats, etc. I'd recommend you give them a call (or send an email) and discuss your particular craft. You can also send a PM through their UA-cam channel which is Float Tube Fanatics & Fish Finder Mounts .com All the best, Don
Hey winkidoodles I really like the fishing rigs that you use. I use the vmc hooks and wacky rig and use other rigs that you made up. I don't show those on my channel though because that's your thing. Great videos!
I like the idea of the fishing buddy because you can take it with you wherever you go. Different vessels or friends vessel because his finder is on the fritz. But does it find fish like your new finder????? I can live with the depth being off a few feet because the transducer is longer in the water and do the math.
Sure, everyone has personal preferences and different situations. The purpose of this video was not to criticize the Fishin' Buddy, but rather to show the attachment differences, specifically focused on the float tube featured in the video. Because I'm not bringing my fish finder to different vessels a friend's vessel, but rather am mounting a fish finder on a float tube (or inflatable kick boat), the FTF mounting system works better for me. And yes, of course whatever fish finder you use with the FTF mounting system finds fish.
Kevin, Thanks so much for commenting and glad you like the shows. That Wave Spin reel is the cat's meow; works great. I'm saving up for the new Legend 250. Don
My apologies. With all your deteriorating containment facility infrastructure issues, I didn't realize this was (for you exclusively) a classic Flapdoodle Bamboozle. My next project is a more complex series of feints and diversions that ultimately result in your front deck Lowrance unit being mounted on top of a minnow bucket with the GPS antenna duck taped to a cricket box. The map chip will show only Valley Watermill hotspots and location of the portable comfort station. Quite utopian.

Thanks, Tom. Hope all's well with you and your family. Best wishes, Don

Thanks so much for your time! I appreciate it!
Thanks! I've been using the FTF system on my float tube for some time now and really like it. Tight lines, Don

Hey, thanks Bo! All's well here. All the best to Laura. Our Three Amigos say hi to Emma and Tigger! Don

Wow, I didn't figure out until the very end that you like the FTF set up better. I was totally bamboozled by all of the flapdoodle.
Those crappie look great! Hope all is good with you Don.
Very slick! Thanks for the comparison!!!

One more question. Do you prefer bear paws or any other soft plastic for wacky rigging? Which do you think would work better in a fair test?
Nice video Don!
Thanks so much! We are moving into cold water (crappie) season but spring and Wacky RIG'R season will be here before you know it. All the best, Don
Cool vid Don, nice bass!

Is there a system like the FTF that could also fit a kayak?
Is the other fish finder still picking up fish like yours
don how do you like your "wave spin reel" thanks Kevin lv your videos

That is a nice fish though. Yawn.
