Good collection of SR EMUs shown on carefully thought out 3rd Rail layout. Effective use of Scenecraft Sheffield Park station adds a believable dimension to the scene. Although these units have been in use in the 1950s, SR modellers had to wait a long time as Hornby never made any and it was down to Bachmann to produce them. Not to be outdone, Hornby then produced a 4VEP with various insufficiencies. I have got the latest one in modern SR livery on order from Hattons, but the delivery date gets further and further into the future! Thanks for uploading.

Thank you - I try my best and it was good to have a close friend bringing along his blue /grey units to run.
Presumably you have found my www.BloodandCustard.com website with all the SR multiple unit histories thereon?
Thomas Myres' station building was too good to pass up - Hassocks was the first before the design featured on the Cuckoo Line, Midhurst to Chichester and the Bluebell Railway. Still need to build the Up side and canopies.
There is a Ewhurst Green video which includes two 13-coach green-liveried boat train sets passing. ua-cam.com/video/t1byPkfDFAc/v-deo.html
The issues with Hornby's 4 VEP were both legion and disappointing given the assistance given at an early stage in their project.

Third rail positionning, did you set this to align with the collector shoes on the 4mm scale body or to the correct spacing from the OO track?

    • @ewhurstgreen
      @ewhurstgreen  5 місяців тому +1

Thank you for a good question! 👍
The con-rail is correctly spaced to the adjacent running rail; I am able to do this as the track is SMP /Exactoscale with more-realistic sleeper sizing. ⚡
The 'HO' sleepers of PECO's code 75 track are too undersized to do this. 😒
Pots are PECO (without the spacers) and are a push-fit into the sleeper ends facilitating easy removal if needed. 🙂
In terms of Hornby /Bachmann emu stock the shoes of one fall just outside the conrail; the other just inside. 🧐

I could quite happily live in Ewhurst Green, although I hear the coal delivery man is sometimes unreliable? Fantastic layout, thank you for uploading your work.

Don't let him put you off as (like most stations at the time) at Ewhurst Green there is also the independent local coal merchant trading from his scruffy shed tucked in the corner of the coal yard..... 🙂
Thank you for your kind comments and I will endeavour to locate a removals pantechnicon for the layout in order to assist your relocation. 😄

Love the 2 COM units - their weathering is absolutely superb!
So good the see an MLV with a trailing load too - any chance of a TLV?

      Thank you!
Weathering was by The Model Centre who have weathered my green 2 EPB units.
Not sure if Rod is looking to have a blue /grey TLV although I'm considering the unique Maroon TLV S68203 even though it would be out-of-era for Ewhurst Green.
