The thing is:
I know a person who is now about 50 years old. He is listening to classic heavy metal and thrash metal (Testament, Kreator, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc.)
And he also doesnt like the Nu Metal era.
But he LOVES Static-X! And thats weird 'cause I'm counting them to a part of the Nu Metal generation. But Static-X did something different. Even if they have the same minimal character moest nu metal bands had. They did something special that even an old school metal head started to like them.

Lol. Minimal character? You mean most metal that isn't nu metal? Most successful nu metal were all their own thing. Korn isn't like anyone else. Slipknot isn't like anyone else. Mudvayne isn't like anyone else. LP isn't like anyone else. It goes on and on. Fuck, you can cry all you want but even Limp Bizkit wasn't like anyone else. You can say whiney, simple, "mAiNstReaM," etc. But for all of these and then some, if you like that sound you have one place to go... That band. That isn't true for most metal in most sub genres. This is true for other iconic bands too. Tool, Opeth, etc that aren't in that genre. Static-X does the same thing. And they aren't any more their own thing than any of these others. It's just nu metal. And it's not goddamned industrial.

I was friends with Wayne he was one of the nicest and most chill dudes I've ever known. I will always remember where I was and what I was doing when I got that awful text telling me he died. I miss him. I wish you had discovered them 15 years ago Alex I think you would have loved them live.

Ok i love me some Otsegolectric (sad i never seen a dbz villain amv to this think it would have been perfect in my youth) but as someone with hyperacusis I also hate this song because that guitar screech though amazing makes me sick to my stomach and possibly flair in my tinnitus but worth it every few months. Thanks Omega Boost for introducing me to this track and band.

Yeah, there’s a reason why there are a bunch of vampires in the video dude. Go watch the Queen of the Damned film. It’s a fantastic film and has a mind blowingly good soundtrack.

Have to give you props for getting it. Simplicity was this band's greatest talent. From the great short samples, guitar riffs, interesting lyrics and amazing delivery this was a hell of a band. Miss my teen years so much listening to them non stop.

I was lucky enough to see these guys when they were about to blow up. Wayne was the quintessential front man, especially for their Evil Disco genre, Static-X was truly a unique band. When I seen them at Ozzfest they really stood out and then some and given the line up that year, that's saying something. I've been a fan ever since and I was really bummed when Wayne passed. However, Wayne may no longer be with us in person, but Xero and that band are keeping Static-X alive and preserving Wayne's memory.
Wayne left a very big impression in a short time. He was a larger than life character that had so much music to share with us and it's tragic that we lost him, but he'll always be with us in spirit.
Isn't it just so heartbreaking the way that the best music composers die first,then the average music composers die last.
Many good songs by Static-X, listened to them a lot in my teen years. Few songs at the top of my head:
- Get to the Gone
- Kill Your Idols
- Structural Defect
- Z28

There weren’t many songs in their discography that are considered “hits” but so many of their songs are amazing. Have been a mainstay on my music rotation for many years.

I've always admired the uniqueness of Wayne's voice. It was and still is just so recognizable. An amazing singer that left us way too soon. They were a fantastic band to see live too. Really miss this band so much. I suggest checking out their newest song titled "Hollow" from the upcoming new release featuring the last of Wayne's vocals.

IMO Cannibal was a pretty weak album, but Destroyer was a good song.
My favorite on Cannibal (by far) was Chroma-Matic!
