Some very sub-par teams this season. Guha and Issokson are the only half-decent quizzers in this episode. The fact that a vast majority of the questions were on literature helped them, of course. Thanks for the prompt upload, No Limitation!
I usually have no complaints about the teams chosen, they've all had to go through the selection process regardless of uni, age, class, nationality etc. but I can't help but feel there must have been some teams that would have known a lot more than Paris (Bach didn't write any pieces for synthesisers strangely), but weren't selected because they're not as 'wacky' or 'interesting'.
I mean, good on him for turning up, but the Paris captain really was terrible. Continually barking “give me something” at your team and making excuses “we didn’t hear the question” - oh please. Indeed, au revoir.
London Institute in Paris were an absolute disgrace. One of the worst - if not worst - teams I've ever seen on this show. I'm perplexed how they made it on at all. Racine turned in his grave when they couldn't even identify one of the most famous French dramatists of the past three hundred years. Not sure what is going on with UC either. After a few stellar early rounds I've been underwhelmed by the quality of the competition.
london institute in paris was a disgrace. Bach composing for synthesizer? croatia on the black sea? mocha instead of river plate? hegel having a photo?
LIP seems to be the place to send your kids if you're rich and they's a bit thick. Oh well, we do need somewhere other than Parliament. Goldsmith's were two members short, though. Doesn't seem fair.
I guess it's difficult to get a UC-level quiz team from just 120 students so kudos to ULIP for appearing and for the beret! Even less than the last episode, just 13 answered questions + 8 misses. Should we call this the 'Entertainment Episode'? ;P ULIP a stunning 4 starters, Alcock's Beret on 2 with Dann & Griffiths on 1 each. Amazing bonus conversion rate of 25%! Seriously?!? Goldmiths 9, Issokson & Guha 4 apiece, Cox 1. Guha's Bcr 70%. Paxo seemed in VERY high spirits, which was the real bonus :) Best part for me 'Goldsmith's Cox' at 25:30 :)))
That guy with the beret was seriously pissing me off making that woman feel uncomfy, everytime she said something it was " I can't hear you" "no need to whisper" and "I can't understand what you are saying". Everytime she would guess an answer he would just nominate her to take the fall if shes wrong but say aloud the other team mates guesses. You can tell she was throwing ideas out there and he as the captai n should be man enough to say the wrong answer.
King Albert 1st of England! Haha, but very nearly because George VI's first name was indeed Albert. He was made to change his regnal name because Albert sounded too Germanic!
More so, there were four fairly-contemporary Alberts who could have become King Albert of England, or rather of the UK: Victoria's husband, who wasn't king because male consorts are not given that title; their son, who became Edward VII, choosing that regnal name possibly because he didn't want to symbolically outshine his father; his son Prince Albert Victor, who would have succeeded him and be king at the time referred in Paxman's question hadn't he died during Victoria's reign; and George VI as you well say, although I believe his choice of regnal name was rather meant to borrow from the image of his father's period. I think I'm watching too many shows about the British monarchy... :)
Yet again, many thanks for the wonderful prompt upload! Looks like nail polish and a beret weren't much help. I enjoyed the spunkiness of Issokson and the quick responses of Guha. I don't understand the green lipstick.
S48 LOSERS’ TABLE Well, ULIP did manage to scrape a few points near the end to end up joint-bottom of the table. Unsurprisingly, 55 points will not be enough to crack the top 4, so they are eliminated. With four first-round matches remaining, each subsequent episode will confirm one of the highest scoring losing teams. Can Queen's - Belfast hold on? 175 Emmanuel - Cambridge 150 Exeter 150 Hertford - Oxford 110 Queen’s - Belfast ------------------- 105 York 90 SOAS 75 Pembroke - Oxford 75 Sidney Sussex - Cambridge 55 London - Institute in Paris 55 Strathclyde
how can you not recognise that famous photo of Wittgenstein?? Only the most famous of all those philosophers. Although I would say entirely non-sexy. This institute in paris mob are as thick as a pile of sleepers.
Those french artsy university students look exactly like how I’d imagine they would look
... that's exactly the impression they want the audience to have! :0)
Indeed. I enjoyed watching them get slaughtered.
Also, shout out to Paxman saying "There will be blood" like he's this close to killing everyone in the studio.
blimey, someone spiced up Paxman's drink. And thank you for uploading!

A bit painful to watch, but strangely entertaining.
you're half right
strangely weird bit (much) entertaining to watch
“You got plenty of things more or less right.”
Thanks for sharing!
Paxman is getting shady as hell. I love it.
Issokson made this watchable. She warms your heart.
But the choice of lipstick? Makes her teeth look green.
Incredible, this "zut alors" killed me ... :-D
Guha vs no one.
Come on.. Isaakson and Guha were both getting Points. Cox warmed up at the end. Guha & Isaakson worked well together
Clever tricky Flag round ... the Starter threw me, but when I understood the concept I got all three bonuses Yay!
"you don't have to whisper" and "why is everybody looking at me?" clearly not good team chemistry in Paris
The beret was just really pissing me off, blech. But I did enjoy Griffiths' introduction. This was a very entertaining train wreck.

Guha was really good
Many thanks for the quick upload. Always the highlight of my week...

Haha the smouldering gaze of Derrida.

Not to mention, how did they not get Racine?
Paxman at the end :)
I totally guessed "pineapple" correctly! Man, this show makes me feel useless.
CrabbyO same here!

Oh well, at least Paris can be philosophical (except that they didn't recognize Wittgenstein)
IT IS ALBERT CAMUS
Your meant to wear a beret not balance it on the back of your head.
Wow, do people watch UC just to insult the contestants and complain? Get over yourselves and actually enjoy the entertainment.
Yes, some of the commenters here come only to vent the frustration of their pathetic lives.
oooohhhh! now who's superior, luv.

What's that cheeky wink about at the end?
The girl Issokson gave the wink first.
Double cheeky

Guha and Issokson were good. Especially Guha
angst. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ah aha!!!!!!! my sheepdog is suffering from existential angst. Plonker
LOL 21:23 "The films of Daniel Day-Lewis" Issokson -eye roll "I hate him!"
Initially found Issokson annoying but now find her appealing.
She was a good, with a nice attitude - but it is difficult to overlook a green lipstick.
She seems like a good captain! Both knowledgeable and gracious.
Now I need to find out why Miss Issokson hates Daniel Day Lewis so much.
27:51. Priceless.
Derrida was always going to be on that list.
My god, judging by the baguette-lovers' intro I almost thought they were Italian.
They introduce themself in French and can‘t answer any french questions? Ok
Yeah erm that London Institute in Paris was a little too Parisienne for the quiz i think. :p
goldsmith issoksan
sounds a bit like hadouken
2 questions right, yesss.
Griffiths trying very hard to come across as punk. But actually a bit cringe.
Are the questions easier than usual? I can typically get 2 or 3 questions right, but I got at least 6 right this time...
You are improving, my friend!
goldsmiths最右边的我可以惹
Very uninspiring start to the new season.
Looking forward to seeing Goldsmiths get stomped

Issokson is triggering me I need a safe space.
