Great effort Izzy on a cloudless sky, love that blended image at 10:58 it worked well, enjoy your stay at Kangaroo Island and look forward to next Sunday.
Another beautiful location with some gorgeous colours. This posts really make for some great compositions and, once again you worked the scene to perfection. Thanks for sharing and have a great week
Amazing video mate. You learn something new everyday. I had never heard of Aurora Australis before....what an amazing phenomenon and the glow from it was absolutely spectacular! Shame the tide was out but I think it forced you to look around for different compositions, which you masterfully found. I keep going back to the image at 12:22...that has to be one of my personal favorites of yours. Absolutely stunning, minimalist composition. Really enjoyed this one mate. Hope you are doing well, have a great week down there!
Thanks buddy, always a pleasure to have you along 🙏. I think you are right, if I had a high tide I'd probably wouldn't have pushed myself quite as hard as I did. I was pleased with that shot in particular... I intended it to be a minimalist BnW but it really did work well in colour. And I just lucked out with that little bird (a swift i think). Take care and look after those closest to you 🙏🙏🙏
I have no words! The colours, the sunrise, the aurora! Wow wow wow!!! Even with well below par conditions and health you still managed to capture perfection. Beautiful Izzy just beautiful. Thank you. Take care
Thank you so much Jill, I have to admit I wasn't firing on all cylinders, but once I stepped into the water and begin lining up the compositions it was like a shot in the arm and I instantly began to feel better... the power of the mind hey 😂. I hope you have a wonderful week Jill 🙏🙏🙏
How exciting to catch that interest light. I would say you did do it justice despite the tide level! I really liked the one around 8:30 that seemed to include every color and is so well-balanced. I hope you are feeling better!
Thank you Juanita, the light was quite special that morning I have to agree and thank you I am feeling much better now too. Hope you are well and having a great week 🙏🙏🙏
2 views and I'm still not getting it all to come together, mind you I've never tried an 8 minute exposure on the aurora! 🤣 I guess you've not seen it much so wouldn't think to fire off a high ISO test shot to see or the direction it was in. Gave some funky colours and must have been strong to show that near sunrise! Early on when you said "you'd go back later for a reverse sunset" I take it you ment reverse sunrise? I need more wine LOL
Cheers Andrew, I thought the glow a little different but wasn't quite sure why, hence the normal long exposure. Apparently the aurora was extremely strong that morning. The sun position at sunrise was straight ahead (almost) and would set almost directly behind me. Hence shooting 180 away from the sunset would be a reverse sunset. Hope that makes sense matey 🙏🙏🙏
@@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography AH! If only I'd thought the obvious not think it was humor calling sunset a reverse sunrise, setting me down a rabbit hole of why point that way at sunset, what's sunset giving? 🤣
lovely images.. I see you do the Adam Gibbs style, make sure the separation in the poles. (yes I enjoy watching him on UA-cam). I would love to visit KI.. a place I have never been. Keep on shooting!!
Thank you Nikki, I'm so fussy when it comes to overlapping objects and very rarely enjoy an image with too many subjects crossing over themselves. You will have to get over there one day, its really worth the effort and its only a short trip from you. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
Amazing colours and stunning images Iz!! That's a versatile location with lots of compositions. I've always wanted to capture the Aurora but have only caught faint remnants. Lucky you to have been there post one, and not realise it 😅 Amazing what our cameras can pick up that we just cannot with our own eyes. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you Val, that's part of the beauty of long exposure the cumulative affect of light, contrast and texture combine in unique ways, always surprising to me at least. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for another wonderful series of images, Izzy. Again, some extraordinary colours, and what seems like endless detail in the images. Your thoughts about "not doing the jetty justice" seemed somewhat pessimistic given the richness of the colours. I'm not sure what insects were strafing you at the start but they seemed quite energetic for so early in the morning. Sorry to hear you got a dose of the flu, but glad you're recovering.
Thank you Michael, I think they are called midge flies here. Thankfully they don't bite but the constant and erratic fluttering in your eyes, ears and nostrils is quite off-putting. Hope you are well, have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
I seriously think Tourism South Australia and Tourism Australia should have you on a permanent $retainer as a "paid ambassador" just doing what you do, because every single location you visit, instantly goes on my "Bucket List" of places I want to 1) go visit, 2) go photograph, and 3) tell everyone I know family and friends wise that they "have to go visit this place Izzy Abuleela just shot" ;-)
@@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography - ah, well let me see what I can do about connecting some of the dots there as "I have detailed files" ( stupidly large linkedin network ).. no promises but I'll reach out to some folk to see if we can't at least get a couple of emails and calls happening..
I'm currently driving a Sony A7 Mk 4 and it also goes down to an ISO of 50 but as you noted midway through this shoot vlog, 100 is the "native ISO" so I've avoided cranking my Sony A74 down to ISO 50 thinking it might causes issues, but now I see you're using the emulated ISO of 50 without issues, I'm going to experiment as I'm clearly missing out on something here ;-)
Cheers Dez, I have never noticed any discernable issue with my images taken at ISO50. However it is worth noting that ISO 50 is the almost the same as dialing in +1.0 exposure compensation at ISO 100 and reducing in post. The advantage of using ISO 50 instead of use ISO 100 + 1.0 is that you get more useful information from the image preview since it's done in camera and you can adjust your settings in the field so to speak 🙏🙏🙏
@@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography - crikey, that's given me so great food for thought, thank you, I'm so honoured you make time to answer questions like this in your comments here on UA-cam, you should run paid "Q&A" live-stream sessions monthly, I'd sign up every time ;-) cheers mate !!
Spectacular mate! Sorry to hear you had the flu but what incredible conditions and images. How did you find Kangaroo Island? It’s somewhere I’d love to visit one day with the kids.
Cheers Adrian, loved Kangaroo Island, you and the kids would love it. Lots to see, lots to eat and drink, and lots to point your camera at. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
You do find some stunners, Iz, and how you get the sun to time it’s solar flares to interact with your dawn shoots is wonderful Sorry to see you are being eaten alive, maybe a smelly wet dog might have put off the mozzies Tom
Very appealing images with a morning light I think only a handful of places in the world can produce. One question, I notice that you use an additional monitor on the flash shoe. Is this something you typically do to have a larger screen or is it due to something else? Thank you, cheers.
Cheers, much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏 the monitor and screen recorder does help with reviewing images and composition settings a little. But it is mainly my recorder so I can show you through the camera lens and all the camera settings as I take each image. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
that light banding in the sky at 7:20 is very strange. was it the longer shutter picking up the remnants of the southern aurora maybe?? they would be invisible to the human eye but the camera could possibly get them particularly with the 4 minute exposure?
My thoughts exactly Nick, the aurora was particularly active over the weekend during filming, the long exposure definitely had an impact, the results look a little like diffraction lines too. Take care and love those nearest my man 🙏🙏🙏
not too many groins where i leave. sometimes, i feel like driving a truck and load some tree trunks in the back. then stick them in the ground and wait for the tide.
I noticed you moved your zoom after locking focus when taking first picture. Does that zoom keep focus when moved? If yes, then this is a nice feature, most zooms don't do tha I think. Thanks for sharing, nice set of photos!
I'd say it's a "parfocal" lens, meaning once it's "focused" you can zoom in and out and it will retain focus, but I'm sure Izzy will let us know if it is or not..
Amazing colors! You had quite a beautiful surprise. As always wonderful images.
Thank you very much Keith, have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
Zero clouds but lots of persistence and it laid off too !! Wonder colors and comps Pal 👏👏

Thank you very much Tony, for your ongoing support and kind words... take care and have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
What a pleasant surprise that must have been. That glow is other worldly.
Thank you David, I didn't realise there was a huge solar flare a day or so earlier and had no idea the aurora would be so prominent 🙏🙏🙏
Your work just blows my mind. Your incredible at what you do ! X
