DLR using dogs for heat: The band Three Dog Night took their name from a method where in olden times people would use dogs for heat. A really cold night required 3 dogs and thats where the phrase 3 dog night comes from.
Falling in the Himalayas as your buddies jump off the other side to stop you and everyone else attached from falling off completely is pretty inspiring to want to crack that kind of hike. If I was in my 20s and 30s with little fear until this kind of stuff happens, I can imagine myself there. After 40 and today…not a chance. Now I just appreciate those kind of stories. Reminds me how much life has to offer at any age. Thanks Dave. ❤
He may have gone to California and became a star but he's still a Hoosier at heart. He went to LA and he never became shallow or dull like most people there.
Dave watched you ,Eat Black Sabbath and Smile in Portland Maine,1978. And I've never looked back. We new back then that you would be in the top 5 of front men of all time. You were a Brother and Still are. We we're just separated and I will defend you until the last moment of time,My friend.Peace be upon you.Always.
Early 70's, our Boy Scout troop had a 5 day winter campout in upstate N.Y. in the snow. Jamboree Mulligan Stew was the recipe prepared by us young teens...as it was served, the noodles were hard & the meat was raw. Plus we left on day 4 as rain came down and got everything wet in mid 30's temps...in retrospect, one of my favorite campouts.
Met you in the 80's even drank with you. You were, are forever the beat of 70's until today. Some have trends like Eltons glasses, Michaels glove. You are what you see is what and who you are. 100% Diamond. Your not a gimmick, you are. Of course you love your dogs and etal. But people should know your you always, no wires or stand ins. Lol. Few know. Paremedic, Rock climber, polyglot, educated. Amazing talent and... Still takes voice lessons... Love Dave? He's more. Giving to homeless. God bless him. And..... He ain't done yet! Watch.. More to come.
Small world! I was born in East Cleveland & grew up in Norwalk. In the late 70s-early 80s Elyria City Mall was a big deal (kind of the "OG" of outlet malls). During my time in Norwalk I was introduced to Van Halen & (the original) that has been my favorite rock group ever since. I have lived in Houston since the mid 80's & NEVER missed a concert when DLR was included. Keep up the great content!!
I will never forget Dave's comments in Seattle, it was 4-12-1979 (My 1st concert) Arena Or maybe 4-5-1980 Coliseum, reaching out to the home-crowd: You talked about climbing & said: "You guys are f'n lucky! you have Mountain ranges on both sides of your city!!" 14 YO.. I could relate to that Dave, It helped to inspire years of climbing, hiking Skiing, boarding, now motorcycling & boating adventures in those same mountain ranges (One volcanic the Cascades with Mount Rainier, the other Olympics pushed up Earth's crust ). Scouts? No we were Lincoln Lynx rebels.. we went at lunch time.. cut school rest of the day. Wish I had my camcorder back in your days with VH..(You are the #1 VH legacy, but I only have some footage of Sammy's time playing the Gorge) which while on topic, is a great place to visit for a show? sitting on a cliff above the Columbia River) amazing venue.
Hey Dave I'm in Hollywood for 2 weeks from the 7th feb, fancy a beer down the rainbow? lol, new series is great keep it going! great to hear you and very entertaining!
I’m not an authority on Mark Twain (but I did tour his CT house when I was eight (as Van Halen I emerged). I feel like, if Mark Twain could pick an apprentice, it would be you Dave. And, you’d have Twain jotting notes, in a very inspired (feverish) manner on your behalf. Your adventures, descriptively, put us right there. I say THANKS. 👍
Dave I grew up on your VH music and you and the boys from VH were the MOST AWESOME band back then and I loved ya back then and now like a fine wine you are still the MAN! Thank you for all your entertainment! You tell the best stories
We went snow fishing with our dogs......it is fun. One time our field dog decided to go find dinner and kept coming back with amazing great trout......the only thing was, they were perfectly cleaned. We had to stop her, and did cook the trout, what's a dog tooth hole between fur friends, and family??? We did find out who had missed a few cleaned snow packed fish and offered to pay for them. Our best story was trekking with horses and the Scouts came across some fishermen.....first the dog, ran in and grabbed a fish or two, then the kids, and then we heard laughing and looked up to see Little Raskel one of our horses out there in the lake helping the fishermen out!
It’s the first time I’ve heard you say winter you always refer everything to summertime come on it’s summertime let’s go in the ocean is huge waves today let’s go Dave I’m heading out I’ll see you out there
Dave, What a superb blend of selected adventures. Can you share some of the highlights from your 'Crazy from the Heat' book? I loved some of your Brazil stories involving cachaça and a boat trip through the Amazon forest
David, your voice is how a man should sound! Can you take me camping Dave? How fun that would be! You hunt our dinner and I’ll cook it for us and i can listen to you talk about anything ☺️. Ok now back to work.
I love this guy enough to say this with love for him. Let the other folks talk. Know it is hard but if you could insert that pause every so often it would be even better.
Been a pilot 40+ years almost as long as a VH fan so I listened carefully as Dave talked about Lukla and the various aircraft. I know them well and was impressed with the details which went beyond being just a passenger. Dave then said he was a pilot for many years.... But of COURSE DLR was also a pilot.....
David always loved himself more than ANYBODY else…eddie could not stand his narcissism, and I still can’t. This is the ONE AND ONLY david pod cast I’ll ever listen too, bye!
On my way to the face on Mars already 3weeks long ran into a group of RAP A RILLS on annual migration was asked to join story's of live SACRIFICES do abound a sudden sand cliff appeared course we hunkered down most of us survived the rap a rills did not ...Dave's journals.2032 !!!😎😎😎

Here’s to Dave rockin’ the Bib overalls! 😂😊❤
Yes 👍
He may have gone to California and became a star but he's still a Hoosier at heart. He went to LA and he never became shallow or dull like most people there.
David Lee Roth is witty, fun and full of life. What an original.
Don't you mean what a homo

I could listen to DLR stories all day!
My father who is 90 , overheard all this episode, and his comment was in broken English " this boy taking drugs"
Dave's always been a man of many words, but the last decade or so, I've really enjoyed his evolving into a philosophical elder statesman.
Roth is upping his game in the new episodes. These are the stories I want to here. Road and tour stories would be great.
He's definitely easier to understand than he used to be. He had a few years there where he was ready for the nut House.
@@lostintime8651 I will...

I bought an 8 track and some records, at 9 years old.
Had some Van Halen, stuff in there.
And my first music tape was Dave's first Solo album.
Always cheers me up....still to this day.
