Still wild to me to see freight working local industry within the Boston city limits. And i used to live near the CSX Beacon yard in the late 90s. Great stuff.
Wonderful catches! Those CSX Dash 8 Standard Cabs are a sight to behold in 2024! Funny to see a C40-8 highballing it in 2024, awesome video and nice P5 on the first train! 0:44 I see those locomotives, the Dash 8 duo and GP40-2LW still in Guilford/B&M colors!
L080 had MEC power. I know, I know, they were CSX, but now that they are back under CSX they haven't been re-stenciled to CSX ownership and are officially still MEC. Nice video. Someday I might get time to wander around again.
I grew up on the street located just above Bradford depot and it was there that I got hooked on railroads. My father used to take me over to the fence to watch the trains and we used to ride the ubiquitous Budd Liners (RDCs) to Boston often to visit my grandparents who lived in Cambridge. Where the depot and parking lot is today used to be a good-sized freight yard and the old depot had a dispatcher's office located at the end facing west towards Lawrence. There was quite a bit of freight traffic in the early to mid-1960s and there was a switcher stationed there as well. Much later, I used to railfan from that same location you did in Lawrence. I was approached by the then friendly B&M crew and was offered a job. I almost took it but for some reason or another I didn't. A short time later Guilford took over and everything fell apart. Perhaps it was my inner senses telling me not to do it. It's hard to remember why so many years ago now.
That’s an amazing story! I got hooked on railroading the same way, my dad took me up to West Medford station and we sat for hours watching the trains fly by.
Well done! Excellent coverage! And there's 1138 with her license plate! When did you manage to catch that? I'm guessing midweek with 37 and 38 off the Flyer
I’m not sure. I think they are gonna keep it on the New Hampshire main line for a bit while they do some track work and infrastructure upgrades on the haverhill

The train in Wilton NH goes right by my house and the meth dealer next door. The Wilton NH police have been protecting the town meth dealer for years and retaliate against neighbors who complain about drug traffic. The Wilton NH prosecutor is a police officer under the corrupt Sargent and they both protect the town meth dealer.
They aren’t exactly rare, they are daily local freights, but at the time of filming their OD time (On Duty) at Portland meant they would be running in darkness once they got to Haverhill and Lawerence. The OD time has since changed so they run in daylight more often now, but at the time they normally wouldn’t.

You beat that first train from Haverhill to Boston? You're Superman!

DOBO don go that fast
Those C40-8 were everywhere when conrail was still around
I hope they stay for a little longer they are pretty cool.

Yeah, I'd say the MBTA operating normally is pretty rare indeed.
It’s been relatively decent recently
Nice shots !

Poor Boston hardly has any freight traffic left, right?
Unfortunately. If it does it’s all in the dead of night.
Good stuff Conor! This is Isaac btw
Nice!
Keep up the content 👍👍

I have never seen a NS engine on a CSX train in the Springfield area.
It’s a little farther away from Springfield than you might think
@@conorontherails I don't think so. Miller's Falls is nowhere near Springfield.

Correct! I believe I caught that ballast extra on a Wednesday, so they had some other work for them. The railroad never sleeps!
Since when is montreal in mass? Big question is bodo route back? Via Reading? I've rarely seen bodo. I have seen dobo come in via Reading.

The only thing you would be able to get that's not MBTA or Amtrak is L080, the CSX local that was in this video!
