Casey kasem had a unique voice. As soon as you turn on the radio, that voice you knew it was casey kasem. Rest in peace.... you are with the stars now.
1975 had more #1 songs than any other year since Billboard started compiling the Hot 100. And the first part of the year features the longest streak of songs sitting at number one for only a single week each (twelve in a row). With the added distinction that no artist had more than one song during that streak. If you count the last week of the #1 single that preceded the streak, and the first week of the one that followed it, you'd find a different song topping the chart for fourteen weeks straight. And the ones bracketing the streak were both by Elton John.

#9, Sister Golden Hair by America was played in Cleveland, and dedicated by my sister, on Casey Kasem Top 40! Best memory of 1975 for me, because I was away at a girl's school about 80 miles from my home in Cleveland. My sister probably does not know how much it meant to me, as I was never visited the entire time (5 plus months) I was "locked away!"
You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by BTO and I Can Help by Billy Swan were also in the montage for 1974. BTO and Fame by David Bowie were in this montage twice!
4:12 “…and maybe you noticed…” Yes we did notice not one but two missing songs, “Love Will Keep Us Together” and…”Island Girl,” which got no love in the AT40 montage.
Island Girl wasn't in the montage because it hit #1 after the 75 chart year ended. It should have been in the 76 montage and it wasn't. At least I don't remember if it was.
WOW....whomever compiled the order of the songs for Casey didn't do a very good job. The #1 songs are NOT in chronological order - for many of them. As Casey states, the Billboard charts are used and here is the accurate list of the chronological order of those #1 songs for 1975.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Hot_100_number_ones_of_1975
I don't think this montage was in chronological order. 1974s went from January to November and did not include songs from either December 73 or December 74. If this was in chronological order and went fron November 74 to November 75, the songs would have been in this order. "You Haven’t Done Nothin’" (Stevie Wonder) “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” (Bachman-Turner Overdrive) “Whatever Gets You thru the Night” (John Lennon) “I Can Help” (Billy Swan) “Kung Fu Fighting” (Carl Douglas) “Cat’s in the Cradle” (Harry Chapin) “Angie Baby” (Helen Reddy) “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” (Elton John) “Mandy” (Barry Manilow) “Please Mr. Postman” (The Carpenters) “Laughter in the Rain” (Neil Sedaka)
“Fire” (Ohio Players) “You’re No Good” (Linda Ronstadt) “Pick Up the Pieces” (Average White Band) “Best of My Love” (Eagles) “Have You Never Been Mellow” (Olivia Newton-John) “Black Water” (The Doobie Brothers) “My Eyes Adored You” (Frankie Valli) “Lady Marmalade” (Labelle) “Lovin’ You” (Minnie Riperton) “Philadelphia Freedom” (Elton John Band) “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” (BJ Thomas) “He Don’t Love You; Like I Love You” (Tony Orlando and Dawn) “Shining Star” (Earth, Wind & Fire) “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” (Freddy Fender) “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” (John Denver) “Sister Golden Hair” (America) “Love Will Keep Us Together” (Captain & Tennille) “Listen to What the Man Said” (Paul McCarthy & Wings) “The Hustle” (Van McCoy) “One of These Nights” (Eagles) “Jive Talkin’” (Bee Gees) “Fallin’ in Love” (Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds) “Get Down Tonight” (KC and the Sunshine Band) “Rhinestone Cowboy” (Glen Campbell) “Fame” (David Bowie) “I’m Sorry/Calypso” (John Denver) “Bad Blood” (Neil Sedaka)
Back in the day, he had an early cutoff. Since Island Girl was a November #1, my guess is that it missed the cutoff and was in the countdown the following year.
@@daviddevol8957 That's what i thought also, so i listened to the #1 hits of 1976 but it starts with Saturday Night by BCR and Casey mentions it was the first #1 of 1976 so i guess the songs that hit #1 in november and december of 1975 never made it in the countdown.
It took weeks for them to produce these year-end countdowns so every year they only covered the period of November from the previous year through October of the current year. Those songs hit the top in November and December of 1975. What is weird is that the songs they did include are not in the correct chronological order.
Because those songs didn't make the cut for that 1975 year-end survey which covered from November1974 to November 1975. The songs you mentioned were cought up between both years and ended up on the 1976 survey because had more chart points during and after November 1975. Remember that "You Ain't seen nothing yet" and "Kung Fu Fighting" were included in the 1975 list and both are 1974 songs.
Island Girl by Elton is missing. It was number one for three weeks in the Fall of 1975. And it was number one as calculated by Billboard. So.... where is it?

THANK YOU for posting! as a teenager in NZ, I listened to Casey EVERY Saturday through the 70s!! So many memories!!
A local radio station here in TN plays his old recording of top 40 for certain weeks..weekly I mean.
Takes me back.. Good days.
The first Year End countdown I listened to. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lucy in the sky with diamonds and Philadelphia Freedom.
1974 and 1975 both tied having 35 #1 hits.
This year, his voice, brings me back to Ohio 1975 in my bedroom, with my tape recorder. The best year.
I Remember Listening to This. Great 😃👍 Memories. Mr Kasem definitely deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LEGENDS

Yes everything was a total mess with songs from November and December 1974, and songs out of order for 1975 and not complete to December 1975

'Island Girl' by Elton appears to be missing.
Good catch. It was number one for three weeks in 1975 as calculated by Billboard. Wonder if it was edited out by mistake?
It hit #1 after the cutoff for the 1975 chart year. Which went from November 1 to October 31.
