You truly are a gem, Tracy! I follow three custom crews on U tube, and I like your videos and narrations the best. I grew up on a farm/ranch in south central North Dakota and I always looked forward to combining. I miss it. When I was a youngster, we had a custom harvester in my hometown that always left for Texas in early May and worked their way back to ND. I always wanted to go with them just one year to experience the custom harvest trail, and he would have gladly taken me, but my dad would never let me go because we always had a lot of hay to put up all summer. I still have cows, but no grain farming as I work full time for Titan Machinery, a large Case/IH/New Holland dealer, and having cattle works better with the job than grain farming. I hope to retire in a few years. Maybe I can still have my dream of hitching along with a harvest crew. These new combines, no matter what color, just amaze me. I always think running a grain cart would be fun too.... Thanks for all your great videos. Makes me feel like I'm right there in the cab. Like I said in a previous comment a few days ago, I can just about smell the grain dust through my phone when I watch your videos. Thanks for all the great videos! Keep them coming! And you all stay safe out there! The world needs and depends on you all!

Winter wheat sprouts in the fall and comes up but has to go through a dormancy to produce grain.
You’re still doing what I would love to do. Help harvest but not the headache of owning the machines. Mine machine is old, pretty well wore out and too old to think about spending that much money to update for my own use.

Hi Tracy I have a little more information on the winter wheat it germinates in the fall and needs to get at least three leaves on it for optimal winter survival and it needs the frost in order to make seed if it doesn’t get frozen it will not produce a head. Great videos really appreciate all your hard work to make them. George

Great video! The sawfly is a big problem. In other videos about agriculture I noticed that some farmers do swathing. But I guess when you have so much land it will take too much time. I also watch the video's of Kates AG, they are interesting too. As a matter of fact she uploaded a video about swathing today, it is in Montana too. I always follow two channels; your channel and Kate's channel. It is always fun to watch harvesting in the USA.
Today I came across an ad for a yellow American school bus from 1997. I immediately thought of you. They are still worth quite a lot. Thanks again for uploading the video. I assume you sit behind a laptop every day to put together a video! Hope you got my mail, I send some pics of my garden. Greetings from the Netherlands!

@@ZeorianHarvestingTrucking I should have noted that the curriculum studied many fields who used statistics. I think a lot of data we used in learning was because it is pretty easy to design experiments in crop agriculture because most fields are somewhat uniform and lend themselves to subdivisions for experiments. We did have professors who were involved ag research who shared with us. If I had been in a pure agricultural field like my friend who ended up with a doctorate in poultry science it would have been more hands on. It would be interesting to be a student today with all the technology you have and the data that is being collected as you harvest.

Vernalization (from Latin vernus 'of the spring') is the induction of a plant's flowering process by exposure to the prolonged cold of winter, or by an artificial equivalent. After vernalization, plants have acquired the ability to flower, but they may require additional seasonal cues or weeks of growth before they will actually do so. The term is sometimes used to refer to the need of herbal (non-woody) plants for a period of cold dormancy in order to produce new shoots and leaves,[1] but this usage is discouraged.[2]

Low grain prices and high fuel and fertilizer costs is why the equipment manufacturers are laying people off. Nobody will buy equipment for a while. I grew up on a farm and always wanted to farm but it was not in the cards. The government condemned 1 square mile of farmland and turned it into a lake and a park. My grandfathers farm was right in the middle. Now it is overrun with Deere.

The cost of doing this job is ridiculously high! Not sure how some are making it work. When the farms are gone, where will we get our food? Import?

Start telling us how many acres these farms ur cutting are, 1,000 4,000 we have no idea how big these farms across the country are, I’m from Maryland

Rough estimate they probably cut 7000 so far. Mike Mitchell ch. from across the border in SK, family farms at least 60,000 acres.Welker Farms ch. not far away in MT they have about 12,000 acres. Most farms won't reveal exact acreage numbers, nobody's business. It's never a real comparison with another farm, anyway, could be one family operation or multiple familys/ generations involved.

I have no idea how the markets work. I’m just a combine driver. Why last? Because I don’t mind picking up the smaller pieces left or cutting the edge of the field. They like to just GO!
And besides that, I get good pictures being the last. 😉
