Love that you use the venerable Steampipe for this! We forget how primordial Reaktor is and was. Instruments like Steampipe and Metaphysical Function still have a lot to give, even 20 years on. Which is bonkers and beautiful. Built to last. Anyway great video!
@@blushingfrieza How much it would affect the price to have 4-8 voice polyphony? Anyma is about 50 % more expensive, than e.g. Mininova, and relatively equally priced Cobalt8M has 8-voice polyphony.
@@Methanol2000 someone on a forum explained it well: I think maybe a lot of people's tacit mental model of how you make a synth polyphonic is based on poly analogs: you have some set of chips that make up a voice, then you have a few of those and some kind of master control board and voila. DSP stuff isn't like that. Your chip has to deliver a certain number of computations in a certain amount of time for the sound to come out, and whatever chip you're using has a hard limit on how much of that math it can do in the allotted time. You can't really just add another chip (or set of chips) like you could with analogs, because there'll be timing issues and so on; you'd pretty much have to start with that in mind for it to be a viable strategy. The other option is a more powerful chip. So this one is monophonic, period, and "making it poly" would mean redesigning the whole thing. It'd be a whole different product and they'd basically have done R&D for two products with no monetary return to date.
If you already have reaktor make sure wether or not it came preinstalled in the base library.
