3 Reasons Not To Buy | KTM 250 Duke FAQ #3
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- The KTM 250 Duke is firmly a learner or new rider's motorcycle. Advanced riders or people stretching their budgets should not get one. Three things to think about. First, value for money. We remind you that you cannot actually ride value for money. And that it ends the moment you're out of the showroom on your new motorcycle. But still, not that the Dukes are inexpensive, but despite only a modest rise in price, the 250 Duke is an expensive purchase. A good purchase, but expensive for sure. We'll discuss this in more detail in the last four videos in this FAQ when we bring up its rivals. Second, we said this for the Speed 400 too and it applies to the 250 Duke too. Because it's so sweet and calm, it can also feel a lot less entertaining than the other Dukes. This is good for new riders to have mental space to learn with, but can become uninteresting for intermediate or advanced riders as well, especially over time. The longer you plan to keep the 250 Duke, the more this is important to think about. Third, this apples to the 390 Duke as well -- space. The seat is not very gracious front-to-back and if you're a large rider, in height or girth, you should establish that you have enough room to move around on the bike before you commit.

I sincerely align with the second point from Shumi. Here is the quick story of my duke. I bought a duke 250 abs in 2019 just because it’s calm and not power hungry like the 390. But it was all ok for a matter of 10,000 kms😅.After that point I started realising that I am putting stress on the engine often to extract power for god knows why I was bored with the engine. I sold the bike in a span of 6 months and purchased a 390. Now I made the right choice !! The learning curve of 390 is too long and it’s going to be my long termer !
This same Happened with me Too After Buying Gixxer SF250 after Few months I'm bored now i always wanted a 390
@@Randommotovlogs I understand. My 390 is an everyday learning. The bike’s power delivery and the Indian traffic behaviour makes everyday new with numerous close calls ! I skip a beat everyday and that’s what makes me feel, I am still behind the setup I live with. Whereas with the 250, I felt I am always ahead of the setup ! Just make sure when you upskill, setup goes up too! That’s what happened in your gixxer !
Hi bro I m confused between DUKE390 AND GT650 CHROME I M a fast rider I have pulsar 180 since 7 years i use it while cruising upto 110-120 kmph I love the looks of GT650 but DUE TO WOBBLE ISSUES, TUBE TYRES I am confused should I go for DUKE 390 I JUST don't like much the looks of DUKE that much But it's an overall package and I m an office guy means my friends will definitely say chapri If I buy DUKE BUT still I don't care about that Can u please share ur experience And give any Suggestions i have ridden GT650 but Not DUKE 390 i like the riding dynamics of GT But don't know about DUKE
So true. I expected it to be more fun to ride, but it does bore me (last-gen Duke 250 is what I own). Had the old 200 and that was so much more fun to ride and had the right gearing ratio for the hilly roads here. Regret not getting a 390 instead.
@@aegon5399the gt now gets tubed tires and the wobble is due to poor maintenance of the forks.
To help you decide which one to get you NEED a test ride of both. They are very different motorcycle and invoke different feelings in you.
They are the opposite ends of a spectrum. Where the Duke is known for its insane acceleration and power the gt is known for its road presence, looks, and the emotions you feel when you ride it.
Get a test ride and decide
I own Duke 250 gen 3 & I have already modified 4 things :
1. Exhaust
2. Seats - both rider & pillion
3. Horn
4. Fog lights
I don’t regret buying it, I have made it mine ♥️
Thanks for sharing Pranjal!
@@motorinc my pleasure Sir!
@@pranjalxaikia553 is it has traction control?
I own a gen 3 250 is a very good bike for starting in india if your 5.7 its a perfect bike , best part of the bike engine response power to weight ratio you can feel the acceleration cheap to maintain just 1000 first service second 1500 due to brake pads overall 2000-2500 per service , millage is also good if you cruise 40+ city 32-35avg, unline other bikes 250 uses 4piston dual caliper front brake 325mm best in segment, also the wp apex bigpiston suspension damn good absobs pot holes like chram better than rr310 suspension and smother engine much smoother than rtr and rr310.
its expensive but the best looking 250 head turner
90% of KTM showrooms do not give you any test rides
That's because of those people wot stretch it like a bike with 3rd service
No bro, I went recently with my friend Learner license and got test drive of 390 was so much fun. I give props for KTM allowing people to experience their awesome machines. But I think you need to look serious in purchasing in order to convince them to let you drive
What? Thats just pathetic.
Literally went yesterday for a test ride with no issues
@@H8ssan We just did it today, 3 peoples, all without license 🤣
Big Dream To Own KTM Duke 250...❤
But One Day I Will...🤗
That's why I bought Duke 390 in 2018. Still loving the acceleration and the power it produces
@@thewarlord502 what is the ground clearance of the duke 390 gen 2
Take Duke 390 to be a dramatic girlfriend while a 250 is calm wife given to you by parents (obviously cuz the "250" looks smaller in numbers to them)
While the gen 1rc (that underbelly exaust) is like a school crush that you could never get and now it's way more used to be acceptable 😂
what did i just read 😂

Funny but true
what are your thoughts on duke 200 vs duke 250? which one would you rather have as a beginner bike? as a second bike? as a bridge bike for someone riding a commuter and wants to ride faster bikes?
Currently the duke200 you can buy is the 2nd gen model. 3rd gen only available for Duke250 and 390. So to answer your question, Duke250 gen3 is the better option.
Thanks
Oooh thanks!
Waiting for the huqvarna svartpilen 401, Thankyou❤
Sir in my area they don't provide test ride when you visit in their showroom . I m talking about Husqvarna panvel showroom. This made me to drop to have duke
Even in my nearest one they don't have one! Disappointing for such a reputed brand!
You should try another showroom. When one showroom is bad try another. I bought my bike from a showroom 50 kms from my home as the closest one wasn't very good.
Please need your thoughts on Husqvarna 250, sumi.
@motorinc
Duke 250 or Gixxer 250/SF 250
For daily city use(Hyderabad) and occasional long rides (once or twiice a year of 1500kms)
Hi Motorinc,
I am an experienced rider who has owned an Ntorq 125 (2018), Dominar 400, Cb350RS and Vstrom SX 250 and now looking to buy a Duke 250.
My idea is to keep different bikes for different purposes. Hence I'm buying the Duke 250 to make my city commutes fun.
I would be using it to replace my Ntorq for grocery runs, city commutes to my office and places, and every other purpose that Ntorq used to do.
Reasons being:
1. It is compact so helps with parking space.
2. I can flatfoot both side hence can manage it everywhere.
3. Its sharp steering helps in tackling narrower streets and bumper to bumper traffic.
4. It is calm, relatively cheaper to maintain and fuel efficient as well.
5. It is still fun being a KTM albeit being a purposeful avatar.
I was looking to purchase Duke 390 at first however for my purpose that isn't the bike right now. I will purchase the 390 but for different purposes and in a different avatar maybe RC for track or ADV for touring.
Now, please suggest how good a setup is for my use case scenarios?
Should I still buy 390 for this purpose or go down on CCs and look at MT-15?
Can you make a video about buying gt650 & interceptor 650 2024 ?
I can see many videos on social media that the new Duke 250 has engine issues, is that true or any update on it. Also I am thinking of buying one, shall I wait or check for other options
any updates on vitpilen 250
Instead of buying duke 250 we go for triumph speed 400
How to find the batch of any bike?
I want to buy a Duke 390 but you said not to buy the first batch bikes. When should I buy? (Month?)
Best to buy the bike after 6 or 7 months from the showroom launch.
I have searched many videos regarding faring bikes vs naked bikes and also rode my friends bikes but i am still confused on which rider should get which category its confusing me very much..😢😢 Please clarify my confusion if possible.👍
Kindly make a short on Svartpilen 250. Lots of love
4th reason not to buy is it has electronic issue and service centre people don’t know how to solve it and say not a big problem simple rev harder.
Saw almost all of your videos but can't decide what to buy, with budget being around less than 2 lakhs!
get the ns 200 or N250👍 best value for money bikes, wait till March because new updated versions are coming 🔥
@@pruthvigohil9845 thanks Pruthvi
Consider honda cb 300f

Absolutely on point. Please review NX 500 and is the price justified? Need Motorinc 1st for NX 500 and is price still justified?
Will not happen. Honda flatly refuses to give media bikes so unless an owner offers his bike to be reviewed don't expect any review of the NX 500 from any media outlet
@@brendonfernandes2877 yes true.

I like the previous gen Duke design then this one
Many do!
Can you please make FAQ for 250 adventure?
Would you consider 12y of riding 150cc at least 15km per day, a reasonable amount of experience?

I am using KTM Duke 250 - 2018 model from last five years. Now, I am searching for a New bike (replacement ) any suggestions from bike lovers??
Get the current D390
I'm confused between R15M and Duke 250. Took the test ride of both the bikes. Just confused between Handling (R15) and performance (Duke250).

I'm 6.4ft tall. Looking for a new bike that would be comfortable for me. I like the new 250 Duke but have concerns.
Can anyone tell me whether this bike would be a good pick? If not, what can be the other option? (Kindly don't suggest RE bikes)
Oh wow. That's tall. The only right answer is a test ride! Please do get one. Very few 6'4" people out here to tell you exactly what will fit
What about cb300r??
Can you compare Duke 250 vs vitpilen 250 please
Please do video on adv 250

I have 2019 200 cc
Happier
Then which naked motorcycle suits tall and healthy riders
You need an ADV. Something like the Himalayan or Ktm adventure 390
Wat abt Vitpilen 250 new model
We haven't tested it yet, Arun, but stay tuned, we'll have a small updated on in the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 MotorInc First that's coming soon
Can I buy dominar 400 instead of this?
Vitpilen 250 or duke 250
We'd prefer the Duke - it sits you more upright so it's more comfortable everyday
Would you consider 6’2 inches as exceptionally tall riders?
No @ronixth7526.
I will suggest apache rtr 310 ,best bike in the segment
Hey need help with mt-15 !!!!
Theres no video from u ppl for that bike..
would you say the speed 400 is worth it over the duke 250 from a purely performance standpoint
Yes bro
As a person who's 6ft tall and weighs 82 kilos I felt the speed 400 to be too small and cramped unlike the duke but the seat space for the rider on the duke is awkwardly shorter too .. if you're a pretty big rider above 5.10ft you can go for the scrambler 400x instead of these two and due to the changes in sprocket size the scrambler feels much quicker than the speed400 both inside the city and on the highways
How long lasting duke 250 engine. Plz reply
This one is a new engine @gbaanurag1120 so it's too early to say but we have not heard of any major concerns about it so far.
@@motorinc ok thanks for response
First he said... reasons not to buy 390 instead get the 250...now reasons not to buy 390...😊?!
We do this for every vehicle we cover @redjstc9123. The intention is to give a holistic picture of the vehicle so the prospective buyer can make the decision for themselves.
I am 6.1ft is this bike good for me or i should go to scrambler 400x??
Get a test ride and ping us? For reference, Shumi (in the footage) is 6' tall
I m a tall rider 6 ft2 so which bike should I buy *1 bike for everything
Answers to the following question should be able to narrow down your choices:
-Budget that you are willing to spend:
-Daily usage in Kilometers:
-Number of hours you are willing to be on the saddle when you tour:
-Choose one primary requirement out of Space, Features, Technology, Performance, resale or Mileage:
Then it's just the matter of taking test rides to know which motorcycle puts a smile on your face.
@@VahanStore budget is 2.5 lakh

Touring I never did but 150 km would be nice ,can you help me if possible
You should test drive the Suzuki V storm heard good things about it
@@Imaksh7 if you can stretch the budget you can look into the speed 400 or even scrambler 400x.
Suzuki vstrom 250 is also a good deal, considering the budget.
If you are into 2nd hand market, the 390 series of ktms especially adv 390x makes more sense
@@nesaraggowda6101The Speed 400 is a tiny bike and is am absolute no no for tall people. The Scrambler is also tiny and not recommended for tall riders.
Why don't you guys review honda bikes reviews. i think honda did not pay for review

But let us be clear about one thing: we don't do sponsorships, promotions etc. All of our content is independent and we call like it we say it. Honda _cannot_ pay for reviews, neither can anyone else. If you don't trust us, don't watch MotorInc please.
Duke are just expensive period and tbh I don’t feel the value competes with the price . I heard they are not reliable from too many ppl
They are reliable now. But not well built. You will face niggles but you shouldn't face too many failures.
the husqvarna 250 is way better
Thanks for letting us know @usero1. Mind telling us why also?
1. price - 30k less
2. faster acceleration, fun low end (smaller sprocket?)
3. same service network, parts reasonably priced. good finish
4. light weight, no clutter design, shorter wheelbase snappy handling
5. aggressive stance still comfortable and slightly taller than duke250
