  • Hi Nail Friends! I'm a DIY at home acrylic dip powder and gel user. I am not a professional, just having fun and saving $ by doing my own dip powder manis!
    If you saw the thumbnail and title, you can already see how my middle nail betrayed me! I finally had all my natural nails the same length, but then she decided she was too cool to hang out and decapitated herself all the way to the nail bed. I thought about chopping the others, but why punish everyone for her bad behavior? Instead, I decided this misfortune was the perfect time to talk to you about 2 of the most popular questions I am asked; Cuticle/Nail Prep and Builder Gel Nails! I'll show you how I clean my crusty cuticles and prep my nail for builder gel application. I will also show you the end to end process for how I re-create a new nail tip with builder gel, shaping included!

    I'm not a mom but I am a God mom and I spoil her so much. I think it's a great idea about the 3$ to the piggy bank. Very good idea.
    Last night I dipped my nails and I hated how they came out so I had to soak them off. I was so tired that I used my efile and ruined my natural nail length. I think I'm going to try this on them. Thanks so much ❤

    With the ultra bond I heard you say- don’t use this with your dips. What would happen if you did? I assumed it could be used with both.

      Hi! Thank you for watching! It’s designed to help with gel adhesion. I think it would probably interfere with the dip products staying on your nail. I’ve seen a few ladies say they got mixed up and their dips popped off fast when they used it by accident. A pH prep is usually what I see people use for dips to help dehydrate the nail bed and can help the dip powder last longer if they have lifting issues. ☺️

    Hello, loved this video! What color dip is the pink on your left hand and where can I purchase it?

    • @CorgisWineAndNails
      @CorgisWineAndNails  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thank you so much for watching! The pink is actually a thermal dip that changes to purple when cold. It’s called Princess Turns Queen from sparkleandco.com.
      Also, just in case, if you are a first time customer you can use CorgisWineAndNails in the referral field at checkout and we both receive a $9 credit for a free dip. 😊

    This is a very helpful session. I don’t do builder gel yet sense I am new to dip powder. I haven’t done any gel or gel tips yet. I’m sure one day I will need info on how to do it and fix nails and such. I love your other videos and how you do your nails. I can’t function with long long nails any more so mine are short for now. I was going to the salon getting them done but due to COVID and the cost I had to stop going. Oh plus I fell and broke my arm and couldn’t drive. LOL OMG 6 weeks of no driving was killing me. Thank God for hubby and son and his girlfriend for taking great care of me. Arm is better and I am driving an doing as I please again. Dip powder has saved my nails they are growing out now and are strong. This video will come in handy when and if I break a nail like you did. So thank you for this. Now I have to watch your new Pink and Lilac video.

      You are the sweetest, Susi! Thank you for watching and for such an awesome compliment! I'm so glad your arm is ok, that would drive me bonkers too if I couldn't hop in the car and take off when I needed to!
      I'm so happy you love dip powder too, it's such a great hobby to be creative and I've had the same experience that you mentioned, my nails actually grow now. I think it's more fun to do them yourself on your own time!

    Thank you for the video this was very helpful. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix lifting from the tips?
    I always dehydrate my nails use the bond and also use a gel base before using builder gel. I never get lifting at the cuticles only on the tips. Any helpful hints on preventing the tip of the nail from separating from the builder gel?

      Thank you for watching!! Oh man, that's a tough one to troubleshoot. Do you happen to wash your hands a ton or bang your tips a lot? I think sometimes it comes with the territory in some professions or activities you do. But, I've had that happen just a smidge on the tip before to me too. For me, it's usually when it's time for a full BG refresh after a couple of months of just filling.

      @@CorgisWineAndNails I thought washing my hands might have something to do with it. I wash my hands constantly and have been Relandscaping my front yard so I’ve been doing a lot of gardening pulling weeds pulling up all of my grass. I figured that might be it, but I also didn’t know if it was my application so I figured I would ask.

    Need some advice: I smudged my dip powder's top coat and messed it up. Should I file down the top coat or should I just reapply the top coat over the smudged top coat??

    • @CorgisWineAndNails
      @CorgisWineAndNails  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! I personally would buff the top coat off, rinse, activate, wipe, and do top coat again. It will be like it never happened. 😊

    Loved the video you made it look so easy.
    So question when you do builder gel on your natural nails you have to put a base first then builder gel.

    • @CorgisWineAndNails
      @CorgisWineAndNails  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Yes, you need Base Gel before Builder Gel on natural nails or if you are refreshing the builder gel you have on.

    Thanks for the video, loved it! Curious as to when you do a fresh set of builder gel how many layers do you typically put on?

    • @CorgisWineAndNails
      @CorgisWineAndNails  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much for watching!! On a full new BG application with no extension I kind of judge if I like it with just one coat. I will do two if it feels like it needs just a little more strength and buff it down to the thickness I like. But if I can get away with just one layer that is my preference so that it still feels natural. With an extension sometimes two or three is needed, but it's always a judgment call, since sometimes it's hard to guess how thick it is before you cure, y'know?

  • @yovigomez6497

    You do such a great job on builder gel and this was very helpful to watch. For some reason I get lifting at the tips of my nails even dehydrating my nails and using the bond and gel base so I have no idea how to fix the tip lifting. I never get lifting at the cuticles. Any tips?

    Love the video as always!!! So thankful your son got to go to the swimming party. I have a nephew with a Dex (that’s the name he gave it 😂💕) he has had it for four years now and is doing great!! There are a lot of up and down days, so totally understand the importance of you being there and all the work you have to lovingly put into his health. I do know it’s not always easy, and some days and nights are a struggle!! You have my prayers 🙏.

    WOW, look at you with long nails. I remember when you had a tiny coffin shape. Voiceovers are my worst nightmare but I am so slow, I have to speed it up and do it. I am so happy the kids were great with your son. They are just curious at that age. That piggy bank idea is a great idea. Better than a bunch of toys that they may look at for a minute and walk away. You could paint under the nail tip to get the same opaqueness of all the fingernails. I have done that before. Buffing won't take the clarity away either. It will come back with a top coat. They look great Miranda!!!

    Great video! I loved seeing all the filing and shaping so thank you. A friend of mine did the same for her son's birthday, sort of. She didn't suggest a venmo donation but said her son has too many things and he doesn't need more and coming to play and have a good time was enough. I think it's a great idea.

    • @CorgisWineAndNails
      @CorgisWineAndNails  3 роки тому

      Yay! I appreciate you watching! I definitely think you will see growth! That's pretty much how I got mine to grow out, by protecting them with a thin layer of BG. Then I use peel base before I dip and that helps me always keep the BG on and fill it as needed.
