    Hi there, great anorak. I too love them. I wear a Swanndri anorak but only because when I was looking there did not seem to be any alternatives. Love the knife pocket. What a brilliant idea. Good on Derrick and Triple X knives!

    I have never been interested in hiking for time and distance. I enjoy trips like that but at my own pace. I just don't like feeling rushed. It adds a level of stress that I go to the woods to shake off or forget about for a little while. Great video my friend and nice anorak.

    I just got to see your video and yes its all true cayse I'm 71 now but still in the woods cause i'm the most comfortable in them some times i'll be hiking out at 9:pm no light cause my eyes adjust to the dark but yea brewing a coffee and reading a book awesome . My body has slowed down but my mind 100 miles an hour and you are right about mother earth take care of her and she will give us life (grand father taught us that)

      I truly believe we can draw energy from Mother Earth, her sights, sounds and all the grandeur she provides. Your Grandfather was a very wise man !!

    Nice Anorak, got one to that is made out of an old blanket. Sometimes I still go in to the Woods with "a match and a knife " I still like the primitive side of being in the outdoors. Where I must have a fire to stay warm hahaha I like it ,getting older does not gonna stop me( for now that is lol )but you are right about doing stuff not so fast anymore Wayne. Greetings Martin.

      Good to hear from you Martin !...I feel good for my age too but I do take a little more caution now, I still go canoeing in some remote areas were help would not be easy to get to. When I do go in the woods with a match and a knife, you can rest assure i am not too far lol !.
      I wish i had the talent to make my own anorak Lol !! I might try it some time, Thanks for watching buddy ( :

    That is a great anorak I love the knife pocket. I’m going check into it. I read your reply to Jim and agree. I’m 67 and really enjoy the outdoors but have slowed down too. Us old guys can still teach young bushcrafters and we can learn from them also. Thanx for your thoughts

    Interesting looking anorak. Nice addition to the Triple X knives. As one of the "little older" bushcrafters I also have learned to slow down and enjoy my hikes. There is a lot more to see walking slowly. Thanks for sharing

      Thanks Mark, The Anorak is of very good quality, it is warm but breathable...i think a good choice for my area and conditions.

    The Japanese call it Shinrin-Yoku or forest bathing, taking it all in lowers your heart rate your blood pressure and reduces stress, no need to march through the woods just amble and take in the beauty.
    Totally agree with you Wayne, relax and enjoy the coffee

    Great video. I have three triplex knives (love 'em) and the quality of the 'rack looks great. I already have one from boreal but i think i will add the knife pouch mod. great idea. But more importantly, your comments at the end are spot on. I too am in my 50's and i cant do what i used to in my 20s. Last winter i went on a trip to Mew Lake with the Toronto backpacking club and it was great. But we went on one short hike and the young lads basically ran through the loop. I tried to keep up but ended up getting overheated and went back, alone. Maybe its my military days ethos but I was a bit pissed i was left behind. I realize now I have the most fun either alone, or with like minded older hikers who go at their own pace and enjoy the trip, not the distance covered. No flames to the younger hikers, hey I ran throgh trails myself. But i certainly do enjoy my hikes and paddles much more since i slowed down the pace a bit. Thanks for the video.

      I guess the old saying "It's not the destination that counts but the journey" must of been written by old farts like us Lmao !!. In all seriousness though I truly believe that...i think it was Bill Mason that said the walk back for the second carry was magical and he's right !! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I appreciate the support ( :

    On the second part of your video, I use to double and triple pack through portage trails. Getting through them fast was the thing. I no longer do that to myself. Packing lighter with a little less gear and pausing to see and experience the trail has taken its place. Thanks for the reflection.

    Hi Wayne, glad you're back at it mate. Love the anorak, i'm in two minds weather to buy one or have a crack at making my own one. I liked what you said about slowing down and taking the time to enjoy the outdoors. It doesn't always have to be a challenge that you need to rush through. Thanks for sharing. Take care, buddy.

    Nice video Buddy. Awsome anorak and that front little pocket to put your knife is quite interesting, it might reconciliated me with the neck carry of a knife. All your wisdom words on slowing down the pace is just wonderfull. I also come from a production management and continuous improvement background and that seek to constantly get better result is sometimes taken the wrong way. Taking the time to Take the time most of the time gives you more ways to absorb what your environment provides you.

    • @highlandtrekker
      @highlandtrekker  6 років тому +1

      I think my issue with the whole production management side of things, and this is companies i have worked for is when a solid "Time study analysis" is made but not respected by upper management and it's the floor employee that is expected to work at an unreasonable pace there fore creating a lot of employee turn around which in result leads to a lower level of production than the initial "time study analysis" had predicted. It's wonderful to get your feedback ! and thanks for taking the time to comment ( :
