Yesterday I saved a dying chick his eyes were closed he almost died but after I took him away from his mom bec she abandoned him and I was making him warm and he start chirping after he opened his eyes and am really happy I saved his life 🥺

My chick died today. I am sorry little baby. I tried to do things i knew. She was lethargic since yesterday and was coming to me and was not playing with others. RIP dear. I miss you. I can still feel her in my hands. I am crying writing this.
So I commented yesterday that I was glad to have found this video because it gave me hope. Unfortunately, my sickly little runt died. I tried my best, and I was very happy with the small improvement she had made in the evening, but I guess she just wasn't meant to stay.

It’s really sad but I know no one else would’ve picked her, so I’m happy I gave her a home for the time that she is still alive ❤️ Edit: my chick died today at about ten. It was really sad and I miss her so much. Thank you for giving me advice to try and help my chick while she was still alive. I miss her so much.

In the last six months I’ve saved a baby roosters life and a baby hens life and I’m only 14.😙 not to brag or nun.My rooster had a stroke and had trouble walking and was getting trampled and was shaky w splayed legs and I nursed him back to health, and last month we bought more chicks and two of our buff Orpingtons were really tired but one of them was chirping in pain.The other was just sleeping so we didn’t pay much attention to it and it sadly passed, but the other would t eat or drink on her own, had painful stomach aches and wasn’t growing for a week or two.Literally sized like a two day old chick for two weeks or so.I force fed her chick crumble mixed with water for two days until she ate it on her own and separated her so she wouldn’t suffocate or be trampled and put her in with the biggest chick from her flock.Idk why it just seemed smart to put her w the biggest chick.But now she eats normal doesn’t scream, and even jumps around eats our weeds and her favorite treat is cantaloupe and she love to eat june beetles.but has anyone else had the same problem with a chick with rlly stunted growth and stomach pains?I have no idea what she went through still.Shes only a little behind on growing now and has a problem with depth perception and probably got knocked around cause she walks a lil funny.Her name is Millie because when we got her she had a red scrape on her nose(it healed) and we named her 11 originally (stranger things) cause it looked like a nosebleed, but changed her name to Millie because Millie Bobby brown.but please lmk if anyone knows what could’ve happened so I can prevent it in the future.

BOY! Did I need this video today. I awoke to 2 dead NJ Giants and 1 being trampled and week. We had severe thunderstorms and high winds which made it very cool and humid overnight. I am sad but determined to save this little one. #Thankyoufortheinformation #NewSubHere
Last year we started a new flock and one of our pullets would just lay under the lamp and wouldn't move we were told sugar water and egg yolk on a qtip every 2 hours, with in 3 days she was 100% and is now our biggest girl but is a huge brat and won't let us pick her up lol
My chick is very sick. shes a few weeks old. ive has chickens for a few years but never seen one last this long when ill. She is having trouble breathing, so she's using her mouth to breathe which is causing a clicking sound? her eyes are closed and she keeps sleeping. i have been holding her for 3 hours now as she is in pain. i am trying to give her electrolytes in her water and shes warm. she wont eat food. i kept her away from the other chicks. not sure what else to do. I'm case anyone is wondering the vet cost $64 just fo a checkup so my family didn't take her in :(( most vets don't specialize in helping chicks either 😫 Update: she unfortunately passed away in my hands 😭💔 rip Melonball Update: I've done some research and I think my chick got pneumonia from Aspergillus Fungus maybe because we took them out in the grass one day when it was hot? ¡¡¡ ANY OTHER TIPS WOULD HELP !!!

Hi all - my apologies. We ended up going back to work and I’m just realizing I didn’t have my notifications turned on. The best advice we have is what you see in the video. With regards to the chicks and dealing with blood - sadly, some chicks just simply don’t make it. Don’t blame yourself if that happens.

Rest is good, but also make sure you dip it’s beak in the water so it knows where the water’s at. We have some great tips in the video about hand-feeding if you need to do that.

I had one hatch last night the previous hatch banged her egg around so I believe it broke the yolk before she could soak it all up, she came out weak and very tired, I’ve left her in the incubator for about 14 hours and I had to wash the yolk off she’s in the brooder now I always always have electrolytes for my big chickens but for some reason I have none what s a good electrolyte recipe for chicks?
My chickens had chicks a few days ago and the smallest one started acting weird today. It stays in its nest area and is struggling to move so it cant get to the feeder. (I’m keeping the chicks with the rooster and hen so I can’t do much because the rooster is hella aggressive) It tweets and shivers most of the time and I’m afraid that it’s going to die. It got splashed with water earlier so maybe it’s just cold but I just want to make sure. I don’t know if when a chick is cold it should act like this. I don’t know what to do.

It sounds like coccidiosis. I’d recommend getting some Corid. You can get it online or from most local feed supply stores. It can be mixed in the water and is used for 3-5 days for successful treatment. Corid comes in liquid or powder form. Coccidiosis is super contagious to the rest of your flock so the best advice is to treat all of your birds and thoroughly clean their pen/brooder/coop. I would definitely separate the little one that is showing symptoms. Give her a comfortable place with plenty of water (with the Corid) as well as food. A similar setup to what is in our video is a great solution.
Hi there! Clean their beaks and eyes off and separate them from the rest of the group. Make sure they’re eating and drinking on their own for a few days before you reintroduce them to the rest of the flock.
What was the name of the first green that you gave your baby chick. Before she could eat starter food? I have one that got in the big coop. Mama took her in there. The other chickens beat her up before I could figure out what was going on. And damage to tendon. I’ve talked to my vet and he told me what to do but I need to know what to feed her.

It sounds like it might be the runt of the group just as our chick in the video was. The first thing you should do is separate it from the group. We have some other ideas in the video that may help you as well, such as making sure she’s getting vitamins/electrolytes/water. We hope the best for you, and for you as well Alicia!
I dont know if my chick is dying, or sleeping. My other chicks are stepping all over her, she is constantly on the floor, chirping, and eyes closed. She is smaller than the others, and idk what to do. Any advice?
Separate her from the others, regulate her temperature, keep watch, make sure she has clean water and food. Check for pasty butt! Comfort the chick if it starts getting rly sick. Try electrolytes in their water. I hope your chick gets well soon 🙏❤️

Ok so we just got some baby silkie chicks and the girl that used to be the biggest is now the smallest and isn’t growing… we believe she is sick because she’s not eating or drinking.. just sleeps all of the time and the bigger chicks always tumble over her.. we separated them but she is still not eating and drinking.. anything to help her eat on her own?? A wild chicken with her chicks my dogs went after. I stopped the dogs but 2 babies either in shock or trampled I carried in. Have them in a towel with heating pad on side as I don’t have a lamp. Gave water with a dropper they open eyes when handled and chirp some. But what can I do to help them? No blood or punctures that I see. Not sure if there is any broken toes etc. I feel awful and really want them to pull through. Will mama come back for them if they make it and can walk?? Any advice please?

Hello! I would suggest focusing more on hydration. Separate her and provide water with electrolytes. If she won’t take the water on her own try the Q-tip method shown in the video. Once she gets her energy back she should start eating. Best wishes!
How old is the chick? It’s hard to be able to direct you without seeing a picture of the bird. If one of its feet is hurt, I’d suggest separating it from the other birds as seen in the video.
A found a chick lying almost dead outside. It couldn't move and was gasping for air. I thought it got over heated and gave it some glucose water to drink(just dipped the beak in water) . After a it spat it out and died. Do you think i chocked it? It is warm outside but there are plenty of water feeders and shade. It was 5 days old and was fine in the morning.

I had one hatch last night the previous hatch banged her egg around so I believe it broke the yolk before she could soak it all up, she came out weak and very tired, I’ve left her in the incubator for about 14 hours and I had to wash the yolk off she’s in the brooder now I always always have electrolytes for my big chickens but for some reason I have none what s a good electrolyte recipe for chicks?
My chickens had chicks a few days ago and the smallest one started acting weird today. It stays in its nest area and is struggling to move so it cant get to the feeder. (I’m keeping the chicks with the rooster and hen so I can’t do much because the rooster is hella aggressive) It tweets and shivers most of the time and I’m afraid that it’s going to die. It got splashed with water earlier so maybe it’s just cold but I just want to make sure. I don’t know if when a chick is cold it should act like this. I don’t know what to do.

It sounds like coccidiosis. I’d recommend getting some Corid. You can get it online or from most local feed supply stores. It can be mixed in the water and is used for 3-5 days for successful treatment. Corid comes in liquid or powder form. Coccidiosis is super contagious to the rest of your flock so the best advice is to treat all of your birds and thoroughly clean their pen/brooder/coop. I would definitely separate the little one that is showing symptoms. Give her a comfortable place with plenty of water (with the Corid) as well as food. A similar setup to what is in our video is a great solution.
What do you do to help entertain her when she’s alone? When I have to separate an ill chick, they cry a lot

Hi there! Clean their beaks and eyes off and separate them from the rest of the group. Make sure they’re eating and drinking on their own for a few days before you reintroduce them to the rest of the flock.
What was the name of the first green that you gave your baby chick. Before she could eat starter food? I have one that got in the big coop. Mama took her in there. The other chickens beat her up before I could figure out what was going on. And damage to tendon. I’ve talked to my vet and he told me what to do but I need to know what to feed her.

Never keep a little utensils with water in the little nursery the chick might spill it and can die of coldness or because of water on his body

It sounds like it might be the runt of the group just as our chick in the video was. The first thing you should do is separate it from the group. Separate her from the others, regulate her temperature, keep watch, make sure she has clean water and food. Check for pasty butt! Comfort the chick if it starts getting rly sick. Try electrolytes in their water. I hope your chick gets well soon 🙏❤️

Ok so we just got some baby silkie chicks and the girl that used to be the biggest is now the smallest and isn’t growing… we believe she is sick because she’s not eating or drinking.. just sleeps all of the time and the bigger chicks always tumble over her.. we separated them but she is still not eating and drinking.. anything to help her eat on her own?? A wild chicken with her chicks my dogs went after. I stopped the dogs but 2 babies either in shock or trampled I carried in. Have them in a towel with heating pad on side as I don’t have a lamp. Gave water with a dropper they open eyes when handled and chirp some. But what can I do to help them? No blood or punctures that I see. Not sure if there is any broken toes etc. I feel awful and really want them to pull through. Will mama come back for them if they make it and can walk?? Any advice please?

Hello! I would suggest focusing more on hydration. Separate her and provide water with electrolytes. If she won’t take the water on her own try the Q-tip method shown in the video. Once she gets her energy back she should start eating. Best wishes!

How old is the chick? It’s hard to be able to direct you without seeing a picture of the bird. If one of its feet is hurt, I’d suggest separating it from the other birds as seen in the video.

A found a chick lying almost dead outside. It couldn't move and was gasping for air. I thought it got over heated and gave it some glucose water to drink(just dipped the beak in water) . After a it spat it out and died. Do you think i chocked it? It is warm outside but there are plenty of water feeders and shade. It was 5 days old and was fine in the morning.
