I got to see this exact production and I thought it was amazing Tina arena really played Eva with passion and made me fall in love with the music all over again. Her energy was amazing. I thought the costumes were amazing and the set was unique I loved it
I have so many issues with the production. You can’t just cram the original production into the revival’s score and libretto. The whole show just doesn’t gel.
She would have been amazing in the original Prince production with those orchestrations. Recreating Larry and Hals staging just doesn't work with the Grandage score. Tina should of done the show 20/25 years ago, I'm suprised she was'nt ever approached back then as she was more than capable for sure.
Precisely. If they were going to do the original staging, they needed the original orchestrations. This mishmash just felt too haphazard to form into a cohesive whole.

It was very jarring. I could see that, in the right hands, the Prince production could be powerful, but it just lacked the energy needed to make it work. And the Grandage orchestrations were so ill-fitting. As well, the projected newsreel footage looked like a 140p UA-cam video someone ripped. It was just amateurish across the board.

The syncopation of the score is a mess. She's got zero rhythm
