This is a Great Post!!! Why?? Because I have a model of Almost the same a-c.... I have decals from 'Draw Decal' of an OV-10 'Bronco'......but it has the tail # N408DF, 418, 423, 340, 240 230, 410, and 419!! I Hope to do it Proud with this footage..... and Pay TOTAL Respect for those pilots/radio ops, who Do Their BEST in guiding the water drops in SoCal over the past two (2) decades!!! "Santiago", "Thomas", "Cedar" Wildfires. From a USN Veteran of 20+ years......Thanks Guys and Gals!!
The OV-10 Bronco's used By Cal-Fire stationed here at the Paso Robles municipal airport are something else to see. These craft have had there lower gun-pod stub winglets removed and an additional fuel tank added inside the rear cargo area to extend both range and loiter times over fires. Once you hear those twin T-76 engines howl, you'll always know it's a Bronco without looking up.
This is the Beast of all Muti military twins that was a great Air to ground transportation duties and without any doubt the Bronco can operate out of small and narrow runways
Same, except I just started flight school and haven't even finished my PPL yet. There's just something about that unique design. The Bronco has the coolest cockpit view I've ever seen, it would be a dream to fly it one day.
There is just something that appeals to me with this A/C the military was crazy for retiring it it would have been perfect in Afghanistan with light armament to pin down the enemy until heavier weapons could be brought to bear I would easily have volunteered to fly it for free no pay!
At about the same time, Canadair was showing, and testing, the CL-84 at several locations, and it performed rather well as a multi-role twin-turboprop aircraft, BUT it was a fully VTOL-capable tilt-wing! It had very fast transition from VTOL to fixed-wing cruise, and had sophisticated flight controls that made it much easier to fly than a helicopter, with quite a "seamless" transition from VTOL/STOL to normal cruise. 35 knots capability in both directions in hover. It tested very well as a weapons platform, easy to aim and quite stable. Unfortunately, it fell afoul of the "not invented in the USA" attitude of the US military, and was "replaced" by the UH-1, which had lower overall performance, and was more difficult to fly and maintain... sigh...
That is not entirely accurate. the CL-84 did have control issues, and the phrase "only to be flown by test pilots". Even the v-22 had control issues, solved with powerful computers, the CL-84 was just too soon. Great aircraft but not what the government wanted for its military.
Just a heads up. It is against my religion to care what you and your less than one year old account think. This video is not fuzzy, The first part of the video is a picture of the aircraft more than two miles away. You might want to check the playback setting of your telephone before leaving a stupid comment.
OV-10 is my ultimate private aircraft. Fully aerobatic, great view, huge cargo area....hard points.
oisiaa hard points (LOL)
High wing, multiple motors, grat landing gear, slow stall speed, small runway operations.
I was the Base Mechanic 1995-1997 in Hemet. I had the first OV the state converted #301. Great flying aircraft.....good times.
😊

Here in the foothills of the Sierras, when we hear those engines circling *us* we're concerned immediately.
@@spikespa5208 As am I, When I hear them depart Northwest of me I'm out looking for smoke.

So you're saying that if I can build a runway then maybe one WILL come..?
* gets a hopeful gleam in his eyes *
Great aircraft, looks as good on the ground as it does in the air!
My future dream job.
First plane I would buy if I won the lottery
Same here..!
I’d definitely buy one of those
OV-10D in USMC black, gray, green camp. Would be my dream ride!
❤😮..I loved Bronco-V.10 type Turbo Propeller is the best and legend ❤😮🛫🛫🛫
Beautiful aircraft.
I was ordnance on the OV-10 when I was in the Marine Corps
I bet the performance of the Bronco with all the weapons systems removed is spectacular.
and the ~2000lbs of radios and oldschool avionics.
wcolby, awesome video. The OV-10 is one hell of an airplane.
Hey hey dash 10 bronco!!
Ov-10 vrs IA 58 PUCARA estos dos gerreros an demostrado versatilidad. En el campo de vataya. Impecavle avion
Very nice looking A/C, seems it could still be in use by our US military!
For close air support there are only a few craft capable for landing in a field full of tree stumps and holes there isn’t anything better
Saludos amigo desde mar del plata Argentina 🇦🇷
Wonderful.
I would give anything to fly that for SoCal Fire. According to their website they want 1800TT. I only have 335. Sucks!

You can also watch BAT 21 regarding the ability of the OV-10.
Bat 21 didn't use an OV 10 Bronco, it was an OV 2 Cessna Skymaster.
I wonder if as a condition of civilian transfer the winglets/hard points had to be removed?
El OV10 Bronco es ideal

6 years later this planes still flying. Its last flight was today
To clarify, this aircraft is still working in the CAL FIRE fleet, it did fly on July 27th & will continue to fly.
@@wcolby yep its still owned by Cal fire
They should add a tank to drop on the fire since it is there anyway.
It does the job it was designed to do, it spots the fire for the water bombers and tells them where to drop their load.
Counter rotating props.

The more I watch the Bronco, the more I think there's a role for it in today's US branches, with a few integration upgrades.
The only thing I don't like about the Bronco is how the nose drops down so far when you land
That helps the aircraft stick to the ground & stop.
Are the engines Garrett
Yep, TPE331s.
AHH aquí en Argentina tenemos su mellizo..el IA 58 PUCARÁ..""Pero el nuestro es más lindo"""..😀😀😀😀😀😁✌️✌️🇦🇷🇺🇸🇦🇷🇺🇸🇦🇷🇺🇸🇦🇷👍👍👍

Too much commercials...not worth the view
