If my husband told me a creepy little girl was standing outside and not to open the door, I would simply believe him. RIP to most horror story spouses but I’m different
I know right.
Mine just needs to say that there's a kid at the door. Said kid being creepy is just an extra "nope", out of me.
They'd 100% be a kid in need of help and they'd be dead as a result of your superstitions
Mine would just tell me to get the door ! If it was a creepy kid I said it's for you 😂
And you would 100% be dead or robbed looks like it’s fucked either way I’d rather keep my life, glad we have a hero tho
Dog: murderous
Elsie: BAD DOG!!
Dog: “and I took that personally..”
SOOOO UNDERRATED!!!
I am going to cry XD
Elsie: WE NEED TO LEAVE, I DON'T FEEL SAFE HERE.
Also Elsie: WE CAN'T LEAVE, THE ROADS ARE A MESS. WHERE WOULD WE GO?!
to be fair she said that after getting a better picture of what was happening outside lol
A lot of people are saying that nowadays when to look at the changes to their towns... I know I have lol!
@@Darksomnium To be honest my friend, there is no being fair in the face of horror, agony, despair and complete danger and its destruction.
Take it from a 3 tour combat veteran and his experiences. In these circumstances, there is no fair. But I get what you’re trying to say.
GOD Bless and you got some good story telling.

Damn, that wife didn't even try to make it a week. Once those dogs entered the equation, it was just "peace, I'm out honey, good luck with facing the apocalypse alone."
Wife did not give AF about her husband.
Wife needs to watch Roanoke-Gaming to get some rela Perspective on how survivable and easy her Situation is
Exactly! I hope he has a awesome vampire afterlife!😂😂
Hell if a vampire knocked at my door I might make a deal with them to turn me into one. I'm tired of getting old and worn out.
Not uncommon among wives.
@@markcarpenter6020 Okay grandpappy, let's get you back to bed.
I took it as the vampires not being able to enter without an invitation definitely. It was a cool story, reminded me of 30 days of night.
As an adventure time fan if reminded me of the hyrophant
I really thought the same, 30 days of night.
30 days of night is definitely gonna be a cult classic in a few years. Lived in bethel Alaska for a couple years and watched that movie and the grey damn near every other day I wasn’t watching lotr.
This story made me think the vampires were more feral less sophisticated but sophisticated at the same time? The use of dogs was awesome and wished they were used in 30 days of night instead of being killed. Can you imagine a pack of huskies just hunting down the survivors? Would’ve been sick
Me. I'd just wait until sunlight.
That radio reading a close caption is so neat! I like the detail!

Facts!
The way she interrupted him trying to explain what he saw outside just pissed me off, let her go outside and lock the damn door behind her 😂
XD
I was quietly working away on my main monitor, 9 minutes in, realized I was on edge. Looked out my office window, Got up, looked down the hallway, locked the door.
Story got me bro. Ambient Terror.
Let us in 🕴🏾
@@sunnydae1031How about we pretend I let you in, but I really just pretend to not be home?
The wife killing herself pissed me off. She just abandoned him, didn't even say goodbye or even convince him to join her. An absolute coward, after being annoying at the start too
Wahmen, amirite? 😂
Yip definitely
She was on Whatever Podcast
And she got all the girl-cooties all over the place before she died, too! /s
(Pro tip: if you (general "you," not you you) ever get an urge to write a female character screaming, yelling, etc. and then to describe that as "shrill"... Don't. That's a great way to end up on r/MenWritingWomen, LMAO.)
Like you would do any better lol
Elsie was pissing me off so much in the beginning, how do you not trust your partner’s feelings or intuition?? She was also irrational the entire time, terrible wife
I hated her so much in the beginning.
0/5 ⭐s, wouldn't marry.
She had to be a 10 out of 10 as far as looks. Because she was just awful. Definitely not marriage material.
I was feeling the same way. Reminds me of my wife 🥴
You gotta go through a vampire apocalypse with someone before you marry them, so you know how they will act!
Im a motorcycle rider. And i listened to this one night while riding when it was warm for one day/night.. This has me in chills because i had to pull over at the end of turn off all audio because i couldnt get the nerve to go home because i do live on a chestnut street.
Anyone else wonder what Ronnies process is for picking stories? He always select such well written stories that have space to add his sound effects and include other narrators
If i remember, he reads through each story a few times and sees if it connects with him or inspires him. Then he plans out the reading. Don't quote me on this one though because he explained it a few years ago in a livestream.
and so fast
He sort of skims them to see if they have a hook that catches his attention. Creepypasta. Com, the creepypasta wiki, r/nosleep, his own subreddit and email submissions are all common sources.
This man is a redditor for certain
Er yeah i imagine its same as how anyone picks something...
If i like it i will choose it .
As for picking or looking for stories with spaces for sound effects ?? ..... well the sound effects are added in and stories not carefully picked so sound can be fitted in if the story has enough spaces for it . If you listen to some of the sounds, they coincidence with the narration, meaning going on at the same time as the talking . Its the same as how they put sound effects in films or tv shows or radio ( less the radio show is live then the sound effects are done while the reading is goin on ) its done after the narration or lines read , eg in a film say a shot with ppl dancing in a club its all done with no sound effects , no music playing only sound will be any lines that are in that scene then when the shot is right its taken and the music added in after .
This is the scariest depiction of vampires I've ever heard of.

Try 30 days of night vampires
It’s definitely up there

She was outta there!
yeah, she's quitter. Should've stayed and fought with him til the bitter end.
@@dangminh3571 fck no I’m not letting a group of zombie vampires have a soul-feasting orgy over my dying body. I’d do what the wife did, but I wouldn’t go about it the same way. I’d sit down with my partner (sober), present our options, and tell them that I would rather die. If they don’t want to join me, that’s their choice. If they try and physically stop me then they’re the one being selfish and unfair. I can’t imagine much worse of a fate than the one her husband ended up succumbing to. (With the exception of that story about a lesbian couple who jokingly mess around with some supernatural force they don’t believe is real, and end up trapped inside a concrete room with no escape, for eternity)
@@dangminh3571 It wasn't an unsurprising outcome. The writer made it a point to focus on their fragmented relationship. It kinda reminded me of a couple nearing the end of their marriage unsuccessfully fighting to keep it together. I get the sense she didn't love him anymore, so she felt no empathy for his fate once her decision was made. Still pretty f**ked up, though.
@@clorby22 what's the story with the lesbians you mentioned?
So, to answer your questions, yes, vampires traditionally have animal familiars and the ability to control them. Dogs, wolves, bats, insects, cats, etc, are all pretty common. stronger vampires can do the same to humans. (Thus Dracula's "Look into my eyes" routine) This is how human Thralls are made. So next time you play Skyrim that's a fun detail you'll know.
Vampires also cannot cross running water. So if you cross a bridge while being chased you can escape.
Oh thank you for the details!
You can escape . . . as long as there are no vampires on the other side of the bridge from the next town.
@@MusketeerGweneth You know what? That's fair.
The dogs might be a problem though
@@draximo9036 Yeah, they might not all fall for the old trick of throwing the ball or frisbee 😅
My favorite part of this story was that it was told in a more traditional story format, instead of being exclusively told from the 1st person perspective. It makes cool endings like this possible and not predictable. With the top notch narration it makes for a really engaging experience.
Those taps scared the shit outta me. I'm soldering and desoldering caps on a motherboard, and it sounded like they were muffled pops 😂😂😂
This was easily the coolest vampire story I’ve ever heard! The whole time you had me feeling like I was there, feeling their terror, anxiety and depression. The atmosphere set by you and the author was incredible and I’m utterly impressed by your work as always 👏👏👏 hell yeah Ronnie

You might enjoy a movie called 30 days if night then.
Same "vampires take a town by storm" vibe as this story
@@ryanabrahams8061 had a sequel too didn’t it? I remember 30 days of night but never saw the sequel
@RevenantMain1 it does. Ive seen the sequal but dont remember it....i beleive his misso that surved at the end hunts vamps now.
I dont remember it being particularly terribke but obviously bot very memorable haha
Great narration with perfect ambiance. This one hit hard, especially how the panic felt so real. I can't believe the wife just abandoned her husband like that. She didn't even tell him goodbye after they'd been together long enough to raise a child together.
The fact that the audio is shown on the screen for the entire video just shows the time and effort put into all your work. Thank so so much for putting so much into every one of your videos and collaborating with amazing authors. You never disappoint :)
I guess you wouldn't notice if you're not hearing impaired, but his videos almost always have closed captioning instead of just the auto generated ones
Really nice story, cool that they used the Canines as a mean to keep them trapped there.
yeah i thought that was interesting!
What?! The point was getting them outside, not trapping them in, their only safe place. So dumb, dumb dumb story
well there was no electricity in winter, they would run out of food within a week most likely plus the animals can still get in. so staying inside isnt really the all that safe if you want to live mo than a week at most. @@FieelFlying

The old anti piracy ads 😂
Ngl this story was so good that I was literally shaking in fear, just the idea of your neighbors and everyone you know getting turned into soulsucking vampires.
Like background characters like Mr Jeep just made it a lot more terrifying because it reminded me that those were all people who lived their lifes just to get tackled and "murdered" by his neighbors.
Although the story got a bit drawn out with the pretty long dog fight.
It was pretty great and it's like an 8,5/10
glad you liked it overall! :)
Being in any sort of crisis situation with this couple is the real creepypasta.
Seriously though, AMAZING story.
There are literally creatures out there that can shred you to bits, and of all luck, they stumble upon a violent dog? Now that's some demon-blessed bad luck!
I believe it isn’t luck the dogs had become Familiars , or creatures that vampires or witches use to guard and serve them
That was very "my tiny town got put on lockdown" and I enjoyed it very much, aside the chow getting hurt, cuz I used to have one.
Same, aside from not owning a chow, as I instinctively felt a pang of sadness at the poor doggo getting beaten by the protagonist, even if he was trying to save both his life as well as his wife’s.
@Jolis_Parsec hurt puppers hurts me. Hurts me in my SOUL

Major “Why do the garbage men come at night” and “My home town when missing vibes”!
Great story, really defines the notion “if you can’t beat em, join em!” Lol..also, i think (not 100% sure) the idea of Vampires having to be invited in, stems from a theological aspect, where vampires (like demons or fallen angels) rescind their “free will” in which humans were given the freedom by God to do so, but angels were not..i guess this would transcend to fallen angels, demons and vampires alike..
my theory was that it started with Sumerian type warding you know? Nail a frog to your door and the demons pass you over? Then eventually the door itself became the ward, like a demon is an animalistic thing which cannot exist in the civilized except for in the weakness of ones heart (an invitation). The house being a metaphor for the self. Maintain the door and maintain the house and the ward is retained but if an abode is left vacant, like say, an abandoned castle? well they then can just walk right in because the civilized do not rest there. Maintain your heart and evil cannot rest there, but if your love is left untended and vacant then evil will easily enter within, yknow? thats what i thought
Okay that candy cane bit was actually really funny “and then bam! Proceeded to be really bad at ski ball”
There has been just a few stories where I would have to pause and just take a break from the chills and fear I felt listening to them. I’m not even done listening to this one and I am truly and completely sickened and am loving the excitement I feel for this story!

Could you do a narration on backroads pt. 4?
Loved the previous parts and I purposely didn't read pt. 4 so that I can experience the story for the first time being narrated by you some day.
I can not wait for the prequel to Secret Prison Guard story.
I really enjoyed this story honestly. Super intriguing as usual and the ending had me in a blank imaging stare. Definitely at the edge of my seat, and the ending hit deeper than i thought possible. Wonderful story, beautiful narration. Good job, keep up the good work!
"We're most likely safe here, albeit terrified... so lets try and go out into the unknown!"
I don’t think you realize how bad it would be to stay. Even if it is safer the constant tapping, knocking, and asking to be let in would drive you insane.
@@ThisHandleIsTakenTryThisyeah, I didn't expect the comment section to be filled with so many L's. The story went into so much detail about the hopeless and horrific situation the characters were in, and somehow this was the guys take away
@@ThisHandleIsTakenTryThis I don't think YOU realize how utterly STUPID it is to permanently leave the closest thing you have to a safe heaven in an apocaliptic world over just some creepy sounds you can easly get used to. Natural selection at its finest right there.
@@user-uq9oe7sc5m How long would the safe haven be safe? Food runs out eventually, and it wasn't even a day until their power got cut. They had the choice of what they knew was an eventual death in the house, or risk going outside to possibly escape this nightmare. It's risky and desperate, but hardly stupid given the circumstances. Not to mention that I think you're really underestimating the amount of psychological damage that can be inflicted on the survivors. Neighbors and friends that they've known for years are now bloodthirsty monsters continuously tapping on their house, promising peace but only delivering a death of the soul. That's not just a "creepy noise," it's absolutely damaging to the human psyche and will wear down on anyone who has to endure it every night in a hopeless world.
The whole point of the houses on fire is the indication that there are “vampires” who have the wherewithal to plot..
Those were likely others who thought they could just safely stay inside. With the houses on fire.. they were burned out. It wouldn’t be any time before they were also smoked out.
Excellent narration, lovely story!!.. would make for a wonderful horror serial though I must say. The ending about the husband becoming one of the ghouls/vampires is something really sad but the way the story progresses is nothing short of spine chilling, terrifying and highly immersive!!.. it’s 2317 here, and before sleeping, am listening to it and enjoying it!!!.

Started with the role playing wife story and I can safely say you’ve kept me entertained through the worst part of the shift! Thank you, Somnium and friends! You all make these do amazing
I'm a really big fan of this author, their stories have actually contained some of the funniest moments in them of any horror author I've heard on here besides Jack Townsend (which should be a *very* high honor), but that's definitely not say they don't do drama well, too. (as this story obviously shows)
I'm so glad your enjoying their work!
This story is a testament to the importance of not only being a competent fighter but to also have an understanding of strategy and survival tactics. Unfortunately, these two protagonists are a good representation of the common man. Good story 😂
I doubt any amount of survival tactics or kung-fu is going to keep you alive very long in a planet full of soul-sucking vampires that instinctively know where you are and can mind-control animals to run you down.
And the will live
Amazing twist!! Love it!! As always, love your work!!
Another masterpiece man! You continue to produce such vivid stories that draw me in! Always looking forward to when you drop something new!
13:45 Were her knees weak by chance? Were her arms heavy? I hope there wasn't any of her mom's spaghetti on her sweater already!
Lol
it’s just vampire stuff, i’ve never heard stories of vampires breaking and entering, but that’s what happens in games. I think the difference is in written media, it’s more interesting to have to let them in, while in a video game format, that makes the experience alot less intense. Vampires in stories and folk lore almost always can’t enter your home without a welcome, but I’ve seen it be portrayed that even a “welcome” entrance rug is enough.
ioh interesting, ive never seen the welcome entrance thing but it makes sence haha
It's used in "Let the right one in" book by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the films of the same name, both the Swedish and the American remake.
