You have truly levelled up SO MUCH! There are definitely more layers of complexity and elements in new drawings which takes a deeper understanding of all the information presented!

Hi Jackie! Your art skills have improved for sure, and the new drawing is definitely 100% a better one - but the raw personality in the old one is striking and I feel your skills have tightened all that up and maybe constricted it a little? You should have a play with using your newly developed skills to concentrate on a slightly "looser" redraw of an old drawing - and I think you will find yourself moving forward by leaps and bounds. I love both drawings (really) but the first one would make me pause and wonder who did it. This is not a commentary on your skill or lack thereof, please don't think it is, you are a lovely artist and the work you have put in shows. It's about taking your honed skills and finding your old loose rawness and then merging the two. I bet you will be pleased with what you produce.

They’re both great, for sure, and the new pose is certainly more interesting. I do think maybe you lost some of her intensity/attitude in the new version, but all the extra flourishes and rendering added are nice. As always, your stuff is top notch.

It’s definitely a different personality. But I don’t think the new direction is wrong, just different. I don’t think she really wanted to preserve the other personality.
The new drawing is def a more soft/sensual more feminine(?) personality (not saying w/o range of emotions though), while the previous one has a personality that seems a little more aggressive, rough on the edges, has feminine style but could also be more “”boyish”” and laid back. The previous one looked like someone who skate boards. Idk lol.
The moods and style have changed

I think a lot of times when redrawing old art, aside from improving technically it’s also obviously just gonna be different bc ur not drawing it w/ the same intention that the 1st drawing was made with & ur a different version of urself than u were at that time, & ppl can get hung up on that. But it’s clear as day that the new drawing shows huge improvements! The old one was also good & had its own character, but the new one has a much stronger color palette & is much more dynamic & expressive! So cool, I love seeing videos like this

I'm a sucker for a simple style (my best friend's drawings look more like your old one and I LOVE them), but the new one really shows off your deep understanding of shapes and colors, it's complex while still looking clean, it's sooo good

The new art is so much more expressive and tells a story about the character whilst the old art despite still being beautiful really is just “oh pretty”. Both are good and nice but the new art is so much more than that and that’s what makes it better than the old one.

I love how you drew the nose and how you rendered out this redraw!!! Plus the way you talk about learning and stylization is so cool.
And woah! Cool to see Veikk make an appearance! I'd never heard of it until last week when my parents surprised me with the exact tablet you got for my birthday! I can't use it yet as I also don't have an HDMI port, but I'm excited to see it doing well enough to send out sponsorships! From what testing I was able to do with it on my current laptop (a very old Surface Pro that will be replaced by the end of the year) it feels nice to draw on. And I agree that the pen feels really light, but I like how wide the barrel of the pen gets, the pens I have now are all pretty thin.

I personally don't think there is a right way of doing art I do agree with you that your skill level has definitely gotten better design ,shape language , and basically communicating a point to the viewer using your art it's really cool but at the same time there is a charm to imperfect art as well

I want to preface this by saying that i have absolutely zero understanding of art. I watch these videos because I love watching people draw and looking at how illustrations come together and the thought process and intentionality that goes into creating them. So, in that regard I wanted to ask why the shoulder in the new version looks the way that it does? To me it looked a bit like it was jutting out a little too much and didn’t go with the rest of her frame. Was that a stylistic choice or is that just how anatomy works or is it a combination of both?
Just commenting because that part stood out to me throughout the video and I’m curious. Absolutely loved the final illustration 💕💕

Yeah sometimes it’s hard to tell when one is “better” but what is good is that 100% she has more technical skills than she used to, so she has more freedom to draw things to match her own tastes and be able to express a larger variety of art than she used to.

Hi there loved the redraw and your videos! I have a question for you: I noticed watching you draw that you rarely (or at least, far less than me) zoom and change camera angle when you draw. I do that, ALL THE TIME. Is that bad? I've started drawing in a sketchbook and I notice my lines are certainly less even and similar in shape as they are when I draw digitally. Do you think this could be part of the reason? Is my method detrimental? I'd appreciate any response! Again, love your videos!

I absolutely hate when people say “the old one was better”, AND? So many people have spent years on improving their artistic skills, and in the process they have found a style that’s different. It’s supposed to change, if it didn’t that’s when you have to worry!
Don’t listen to anyone who says that they like the old ones better, they aren’t the ones who spend hours to improve their art, you are 🫶
