You can enable notifications on lock screen. It's just dug down into the settings. Idk why they weren't enabled out of the box. Maybe some security move by Huawei

Yes! Settings -> Notification & status bar -> Notification management -> (select app) -> Toggle Display on lock screen. That the procedure for Mate 9 with Nougat. Probably similar on Mate 10 pro.
Velibor Vidić that still doesn't work for many apps. There are plenty of apps where notifications just don't show up no matter what you do.

I'm interested. I took the Huawei challenge this year with my Mate 9, and it's been superb. Still every bit as fast as it was on day 1, unlike so many other phones. It may even be faster actually, thanks to the advanced machine learning. The camera is killer though could be a little better stabilized. Battery is insane. It looks great, screen is great and was already very small bezel for a late 2016 phone. The kirin 960 is still about 95% as fast as anything you can currently buy. The 970 actually doesn't seem like much of an improvement oddly. I see no reason to not get the 10 other than price. I might cheap out and get a 5t but that'll be a total side-grade rather than an upgrade!
Beastly G No 5t, just keep the mate 9 if you don't go with the mate 10. Mate 9 feels great is built like a tank and is really fastAF and snappy after months of use.
A nice phone indeed.. I have a Note8 myself as I work in the engineering field so sPen is an excellent tool for me. I would definitely put this phone above anything else available right now apart from the Note. My only criticism is from a personal perspective. I attend a lot of conference meetings, seminars etc as part of my work and have become very accustomed to the wireless charging pad invariably installed beside me at the meeting tables. I need to keep my phone beside me, not sitting on the floor plugged into a wall socket. I know battery life is good, but in a 15 hour++ busy work day, convenient charging is important. With that glass back they should have included wireless charging. It's not a "Pro" as far as business users like myself are concerned. Other than that a very good phone. I also need and use expandable storage though I'm not critical, not many people might use more than 128gb anyway.
Brian M I use mine for business and I always carry a 28000 mah battery pack that will charge 3-4 times that I can grab from my brief case in a split second. The problem with induction charging you cannot use the phone two handed which defeats the point if you are always using in meetings. In the UK inductive charging is not a big deal. I suspect by not having a headphone jack and wireless charging pad they could make the 4000mah battery fit, and that to me is a very good choice.
andyH_England Actually no . Picking up the phone to take a call and replacing it on a charging pad is not a difficult task. I'm not into carrying battery packs. Wireless charging is definitely more convenient for me personally.
Brian M it does not take innovation forward, just a slower, less efficient more expensive way to charge your phone. When we get actual wireless charging like wifi or Bluetooth then it will take off. At the moment I just think it has a cool factor and for most of us the expense makes it a gimmick rather than the new charging standard. Of course nothing wrong with that, but inductive charging is a marketing guff from Samsung who are owners of two of the standards so have an interest in getting it on the streets. In a year or two inductive charging will be eclipsed by actual wireless charging that will in fact be useful.
andyH_England Again, that's not the case. The vast majority of business people I'm sitting around conference tables with everywhere from London to Hong Kong to Istanbul and many other major cities often in meetings for 4 or 5 hours at a time are using the wireless charging pads installed. A phone can be totally recharged in that time. It's definitely the most convenient method in that setting . Maybe you operate in a different business environment and wireless charging isn't suitable for you. The fact that it is widely used negates your argument entirely. In the city I'm based in right now, wireless charging pads are installed in just about every premium restaurant and bar. It's difficult to find a coffee house that doesn't have wireless charging pads on the tables. Maybe you run in different business circles. Wireless charging has already "taken off" in the business world I operate in.
Brian M yes sounds like I work in a different business sector. Really Samsung has only had wireless charging pre 2017 so a bit of a surprise that so many use it! HTC, Pixel, LG, OnePlus, Iphone pre September, BlackBerry, Sony and many others pre 2017 never had wireless charging. I assume you work in South Korea where Samsung dominates or in a business environment where Samsung is the stock company phone?
You can enable the lock screen notifications depending on the lock screen theme you choose, at least that’s what available on EMUI 5 on Mate 9. But I think the same should apply here.
would you suggest HTC u11+ or mate 10 pro better? my current phone is LG G4 and I think it's time to upgrade to a better phone now after almost 2,5 years. My priorities would be great screen, great sounds and great camera. thanks for your suggestions!
Infinity Seeker95 hey thanks for your input. However the 3.5mm jack and the lower price is not my priority. Unless the Mate 10 has better sound, better camera and better battery, I'd be up for it
So much compromising with this phone.. I decided to get the V30+ instead. Other than IR blaster, it just offers a hell lot more. The review is great BTW!
Tim!!!!!! I want a phone that has as good camera as the lg V10..the v 20 n 30 cameras were worse...when I take a pic on the v 10 u can zoom in and crop and image still looks good..v30n 20 failed miserably..does the mate 10 pro have a good camera?? All I need is a camera that is just as good as the V10 when u zoom in..and crop thanks..
The Nexus 6p was the supreme phone. I received so many compliments and absolutely loved the phone. I didn't wanna leave her (Huawei) but I had to mostly because they are dropping off the face of the face of the Earth for some reason. They should've took Google's agrmt to produce their second phone on their conditions. In other news my One Plus 5t is absolutely awesome for the price!
Noticed you had T-Mobile as the carrier in one of your battery life screenshots. How is the experience using the Mate 10 Pro on T-Mobile? Is VoLTE and WiFi Calling supported?
Nice... But a bummer that it has no SD card... Not really seeing a reason to upgrade from my Mate 9... Water/dust resistant but I lose the headphone jack...
Good effort from Huawei this time, really close to Samsung's S8+.That's good, so Samsung wouldn't sleep now. S8+ is really good phone, above many others with such brilliant display and shiny modern design but S9 must come with more thinner and ergonomic design, double rear cameras and plus IR control again. And please, leave out that glass back panel - it is slippery and fp magnet, move to ceramic or some fine alloy! S8+ vs Mate 10 pro Display: S8+ Overall system responsivity: Mate 10 pro Design: S8+ Ergonomic: draw (both are heavy, big, tall and slippery) Speaker: draw Microphone: S8+ Rear camera photos: draw (Mate has ugly washed colors but with small improves in dark) Rear camera video: S8+ Front camera: draw Battery lasts: Mate 10 pro (caution: some models have batt. drain issue) Battery charging: Mate 10 pro (although not much faster, just few minutes) Overall quality: S8+ Software: S8+
I demoed it for a day and it was actually pretty good so I have a feeling it's probably going to buy it cuz it's been the best battery life that I've seen so far on a smartphone all my Android phones in the past have had bad battery life I'm ready for an upgrade
Why did you review everything but what it's made to do, make calls? I thought you were reviewing a camera. that maybe can make calls too but i'm not sure. the main benefit of this phone is dual sim and you didn't even mention how to operate and use a dual sim phone.
I don't think it's meant to be used itself much, though you can if you want like he did. It's strength is in being a full second sensor that combines information along with the main camera into a single image/video. Wide would be nice too though.
I am surprised Google has not implemented the rounded notifications in stock android like Huawei has done with their EMUI. Google has it in everything else but the notification shade. I am glad Huawei is doing a great job with their flagship though. They definitely need to be in the US.
I miss it too. You might be able to enable it still though. There's a mod for my Mate 9 the enables it as it's still there in the code. Just changing a 0 to a 1 in the Build.prop file. Probably needs root, IDK, I always root regardless :D
yep I have both Mate 10 Pro and OnePlus 5T 8Gb Mate 10 Pro just win it all in term of battery I can say because of its Kirin970 AI processor/SoC Kirin970 having Self-Learning Behavior of Owner so Huawei is actually trusted for better long term case
João Cardoso Gotcha. Didn't catch that. Still bad but I guess they were thinking it was a security issue? Looks like a great phone, but the lock screen notification implementation is a deal breaker for me.
That dark theme ui seems nice, love it !
Velibor Vidić we need confirmation from someone using emui 8 about the existence of that feature in the first place. I hope Huawei didn't remove it!
I personally like to minimize the notifications shown on the lock screen as much as possible for security reasons.
ya there are much more they didn't know just give them time to play with that phone
Velibor Vidić that still doesn't work for many apps. There are plenty of apps where notifications just don't show up no matter what you do.

Ordered mine a few days ago. Should be getting it tomorrow 😁
Great phone and I will e waiting to see which US carriers get it. Heard a report that said maybe AT&T and Verizon.
Guy Davis I'm getting mine from eglobal center online just 799 bucks.. I'm getting the delivery tomorrow.. I'll let you know
Guy Davis Just Att
ATT dropped Huawei at the last minute. Huawei CEO made headlines with his angry/upset speech at CES 2018..
Guy Davis Verizon also dropped out too.
Can't you just pop in an ATT or Verizon sim?
It's a great device. Really enjoying mine. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago from Vodafone UK. Great battery life too.

Beastly G I would just keep the Mate 9 before buying a 5T.
Why even get the 5t.... No SD card or dual speakers... The mate 9 is getting Oreo early 2018...
Mate 9 looks and feels cheap when I saw it on best buy
Same here! Got my Mate 9 a few weeks ago, perhaps a month... best phone I've ever owned, and I've owned too many lol
Beastly G
No 5t, just keep the mate 9 if you don't go with the mate 10.
Mate 9 feels great is built like a tank and is really fastAF and snappy after months of use.
I love my Huawei mate 10 pro

1080p amoled is perfect. 1440p is overkill to be honest.
Sheikh Suleiman That's your opinion. People want options. No reason they can't give the option to raise and lower resolution like Samsung
some people have dreams of using VR so they get 1440p but does the average user actually *USE* VR? Don't think so
1st Acc agree
ClaxtonBay123 for me 1080p is more than enough
Sheikh Suleiman Well that's irrelevant. If you just want 1080p make your own phone.
Great video! Does the phone support HD Netflix? How about tmobile wifi calling?
Would you get this, s8 or htc u11? These three phones have a good deal where I'm from. Thoughts?
Excellent explanation man 👍... Always my first preference is you to see any new video
Great review Tim, as always!! And great shirt by the way!

Great phone and excellent specifications
Is it worth getting This phone for januari 2019 or should i boy s9?
Get it !

Tim, what launcher you using for mate 10 Pro, look different with mine.
superb smartphone design
You can see your notification on the lock screen it's in the setting adjustment.
One question why did you choose Pro to the normal one? Isn't the normal one better?
Better than op6 right ? I was hestitatng and went for this one....the op6 was gonna be a big mistake
3.37 ur battery jumped down from 48 to 11% some defect?
What is the model number?? BLA-L29C??
The Nexus 6p was the supreme phone. I received so many compliments and absolutely loved the phone. Pre-ordered one today and got the $150 gift card from Amazon. Now is worth it!
yes best battery i just get one last week i love it best mobile phone for me
Its a beautiful and powerful device
Noticed you had T-Mobile as the carrier in one of your battery life screenshots. How is the experience using the Mate 10 Pro on T-Mobile? Is VoLTE and WiFi Calling supported?
I would like to know this also
The Galaxy S8 active has the same size battery. If you get a chance, can you review that phone and see what the battery life is like?
who is the google home mini winner?
Which launcher????
Great video man. I like your videos.
Thx for the great review. I have a question! Dose the US version support Arabic language? and dose it have an Arabic keyboard?
Do you have wifi calling on t-mobile?
Great video, Tim.
Huawei is not competing with samsung and iphone, huawei is better than them already
Great review🙌🏻
When will you declare the winner of the last video
What do you do with so much phones
What about the regular Mate 10, QHD and MicroSD, I'd rather get that
X2 !!
Beastly G What's the X2?
This one is better
That won't be in sold in the US
Regular one is ips lcd I think.. this one is oled
@Tim Schofield Which launcher u are using cause i like the samsung type
Good phone and good review.
Nice... But a bummer that it has no SD card... Not really seeing a reason to upgrade from my Mate 9... Water/dust resistant but I lose the headphone jack...
jonah travisano Im pretty sure you wont need more than 128 GB on your phone, and Theres an adapter for the audio jack
My mate 10 lite has almost all the features that mate 10 has.😊😊😊😊😊😊
I am unable to remove call connect and end vibration in my mate 10 pro. Kindly help
This or the note 8?
Nice video review. Thank you. :)
Bro when will I get my Oreo update to my mata 10 lite??
Love this phone. Gonna grab a 7X because this one is way out of my price range.
Love your review bro 🎄🎄🎄😇

Rear camera video: S8+
Front camera: draw

I demoed it for a day and it was actually pretty good so I have a feeling it's probably going to buy it cuz it's been the best battery life that I've seen so far on a smartphone all my Android phones in the past have had bad battery life I'm ready for an upgrade
I bet if they marketed it as 1440p and 2x zoom + black/white without using any other camera you wouldn't have noticed
You know I'm just wondering where is your MiA1 review?
Kai-ren 970?? This is not Star Wars LOL
It's Kirin pronounced Quir-in.
Huawei amazing
Why did you review everything but what it's made to do, make calls? I thought you were reviewing a camera. that maybe can make calls too but i'm not sure. the main benefit of this phone is dual sim and you didn't even mention how to operate and use a dual sim phone.
Camera comparison against the HTC U11
Dope phone Tim!!
make a video Huawei Mate 10 Pro vs Oneplus 5t
great video....
Phone doesn't appear to have an App Drawer, but you can activate the it in settings.

How come some tests found battery life was bad
TRUE TECH OPINIONS definitely not a problem. On one right now. Unplugged at 7am,now it's 11:23pm and still have 34% with moderately heavy usage.
waiting for the u 11 plus...
Why monochromatic camera? Who uses it anyway? It's way better a wide angle camera like LG's.
I don't think it's meant to be used itself much, though you can if you want like he did. It's strength is in being a full second sensor that combines information along with the main camera into a single image/video. Wide would be nice too though.
It's not just for snapping 20MP black and white shots. It combines both lenses for the wide aperture mode. It's a great camera.
For S8, N8 and any phone like this one that let you scale down the resolution for eternal battery life....
-720p display res

👌👍
Super reviews. Full big screeeen. Great.
Very good looking
That price though, Holy hell.
Tim is so handsome 😘
Why did they remove the headphone jack...the phone amazing but why..?
I am surprised Google has not implemented the rounded notifications in stock android like Huawei has done with their EMUI. Google has it in everything else but the notification shade. I am glad Huawei is doing a great job with their flagship though. They definitely need to be in the US.
Please do a iphone '8' full review
This is the only phone that makes me "second think" from the Pixel 2 XL.
Hey Tim, If you're reading this comment, can you make an unboxing and review on Huawei P10 Plus. Pretty please.
Ki is not Kai is actually sound like key
No tap to wake is a deal breaker for me. Older Huawei phones had that feature. Not sure why they dropped it.
I miss it too. You might be able to enable it still though. There's a mod for my Mate 9 the enables it as it's still there in the code. Just changing a 0 to a 1 in the Build.prop file. Probably needs root, IDK, I always root regardless :D
but didn't LG patent it and now no one else can use it unless paid for?
Why don’t use finger print?
There is fingerprint which can wake up the phone much faster.
Best battery? Have you checked out the 5T yet?
Jayvon unfortunately, it outshine the 5t in term of battery life
yep I have both Mate 10 Pro and OnePlus 5T 8Gb Mate 10 Pro just win it all in term of battery I can say because of its Kirin970 AI processor/SoC Kirin970 having Self-Learning Behavior of Owner so Huawei is actually trusted for better long term case
I am sure I would have bought this if it had wireless charging
Passing on this mid-ranger.
With the same 4000mah battery
No notifications on lock screen?! Who ever thought that is a good idea? Pass
Jeff McKnight was wondering the same thing! Like wtf!
It shows notifications till you unlock it. After unlocking the notifications disappear from the lock screen
João Cardoso Gotcha. Didn't catch that. Still bad but I guess they were thinking it was a security issue? Looks like a great phone, but the lock screen notification implementation is a deal breaker for me.
Jeff McKnight I'm not entirely sure but some people are saying you can enable it from settings
It's true, that's how it works on Huawei phones.
No aux no buying
Hey everyone
I want this phone. But I hate that I don't have permanent notifications on the lockscreen :(
And another question
Does it have face unlock?
Django Green I don't think it has facial unlock.
Emui.... Still an eyesore
Dope🔥🔥🔥
When are you going to pinned the winner of give away in smartphone award vedio
I want to buy Mate 10 pro
Nice phone but note 8 is my choice
No headphones jack 👎
To expensive
INDIONYC VAPE most of the flagship phone is about that price so stick with that unless the world have a massive change you knew it
UI looks like an early Gingerbread Version of google.
You mean it has no head phone jack?
I wish they would bring back 16:9 I hate the 18:9 aspect ratio
