Thank you so much for this video! I've been going through and learning about features in Cubase that I have never used, and this video has helped me broaden my styles.
Thanks for the grate video! Can you tell us please how to work further with chords and give to them a rythm pattern as a real pianist or guitarist would play them allong with our drum rythm pattern? Thanks!
I didn't see it mentioned in the comments and I didn't see it done in video... You're using a keyboard as a midi controller to input chords... Can you refer me to a video where setting up my midi keyboard as a controller? Is that possible? Thanks for your great tutorials!
It's doesn't. For the Project Key to work, MIDI events need to have a Root Key allocated to them. All of this in not active by default. I will make a quick video on this, good question.
0:30 I remembered an interview to a band in radio in my country some years ago: interviewer asks about band conformation and one of them answers well, we are four musicians and a drummer.
Thanx for the best video I've ever seen about Cubase chords! My question is: At the time 17:37, how could the chord 3 notes turn into only an 1 note as a bass note? this is so useful to get an a signal bass note automatically! Any way, is there any other automatic way to get a bass note accompanying to the main melody, could be used in any vst bass sound?
Thanks again Chris for an another super clear and helpful video! , I used this to create some amazing chords I couldn’t dream of playing or writing without the tool. I’d loved to know more about how to edit the arpeggios if that’s possible?
Thanks, Chris! Not in front of gear right now so - I saw when you used the presets, you played in C major on the keyboard but had the preset set to D minor. I totally get that workflow BUT... Is there a way to play it on the keyboard as in the preset with the "correct" notes. You know, D minor with the Bb ....thanks again for another great walkthrough.
In this Chord Pads mode, notes are mainly Triggers but you can change that around if you want to in the Chord Pads Settings and make the Chord Pads start note to whatever note from your controller.
At 6:30 when you change the key preset again, did it adjust what you had already dragged in to the track? Or would you have to redo what's on the track? Also, that Chord Editing tab...very nice... not sure since what version its been there but... I'm glad you showed it!
@@mixdownonline so different instruments can have different chord voicings and/or skip or change chords. you might also want to to advance or lag chord changes for some instruments.
I love the chord track, even if I don't use it very often to create a sequence or play back tracks. It is excellent as a transcription tool to spell out your chords from a recorded track. I used to jump through so many hoops in other DAWs to be able to do this.
what is Disappointing about BOTH the Chord Track, Chord Pads, and ALSO the Chorder Midi insert, is that the first two do Not allow you to use your OWN voicings :(( The third one (Chorder) has a dead/silent interface whereby Steinberg forgot to enable a Live Preview whenever you CLICK on the Chorder's trigger keyboard, someone was stuck inside the mindset that you MUSTTTT only PREVIEW the Chorder's chords using ONLLLY a Midi keyboard :(( Absurd that THREE powerful tools all come with deficiencies :(( With Scaler as a plugin (COSTLY thou and introduces plugin CLUTTER!!), I am able to do ALL the things that are missing here.
Hi, a question... I have a project in Cubase where I create an INTRO (4 chords) with three vst tracks. Then I continue with VERSE of 4 chords and 6 other vst instruments. How can I not play the 3 vst instrument tracks added later.....at the beginning of the INTRO? Thank you
It's really cool that you feature Dom in your videos here. Both his and your Cubase tutorials are some of the best UA-cam has to offer!
Dom is a GREAT guy and a very good friend of mine :)
@@mixdownonline 👍👍👍
You are awesome my friend!
Cubase has some really awesome features. I believe it’s the best overall DAW for music production. Great video!
👍
Totally agree!
Nicely explained!
You uncover so many great important details Chris! Thanks for all your do!
thannk you
Oh my! You are very close to the magic 100k.. And I found you by accident..! Keep it up.
thanks for sharing knowledge.
waiting for more videos to come
great stuff, to the point
Thank you so much for this video! I've been going through and learning about features in Cubase that I have never used, and this video has helped me broaden my styles.
Great video, Chris - thanks - one of the best I've seen on use of the chord facility in Cubase :-)🙂
Great! Thanks Chris for sharing.
your tips is so cool i love it wish you the best :)
Great video. I’ve been using the chord track for a while, but you filled in the rest of the blanks for me. Thanks brother.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Chris!
Any time!
awesome video! I'm a drummer too, so this is exactly what I needed to start songwriting.
Can you tell me how to add custom "Chords" to the Chord Pad Presets?
Thanks for the grate video! Can you tell us please how to work further with chords and give to them a rythm pattern as a real pianist or guitarist would play them allong with our drum rythm pattern? Thanks!
Thank you very much, Sir. I've been looking for this kind of thing since a long time ago.
Are there any part 2, 3, 4 etc that I can watch?
Hi Chris. I use Scaler 2 to work out my progressions as I find the workflow easier. Once the chords are in Cubase I then twerk with tools you showed.
That's a good workflow, never tried Scaler 2 though.
i think its incredible how fast you can make a song with chords.. its really amazing 😂
can you please tell me how to remove the bass note in chord pads?
I didn't see it mentioned in the comments and I didn't see it done in video...

Thanks, I was looking for this kind of video
Most welcome 😊
How does the project key setting fits in this?

Lol, a classic!
Great video my friend....
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for this Vid. Why do chord pads play the notes so low by standard. Is there a way to transpose one or two octaves and keep it like that?
Thanx for the best video I've ever seen about Cubase chords!

At this point, you don't need Chords Pads, just play the bass notes on your midi controller

The key preset change does not affect what I dragged on the track. There's another way to achieve this though that I will share on another video :)
nice and clean :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello Chris, Thanks for the video. What's that new keyboard, How's the cubase integration and when can we expect a video about it :)
Hey Michel, that's the Keylab61 by Arturia. I can make a video on this one for sure!
Thanks Chris and as always looking forward for another of your Pearl of Wisdom. Have a Great Weekend and Stay Safe
When are Steinberg going to add the ability to have multiple chord tracks?
Don't know about that, I personally don't find a use for this. In what situation several Chord Tracks would be useful for your workflow?

"...and you're not Dom Sigalas" HAHAHAHAHA
Hi, when i play on my piano, its play only 1 note and not the full chord, only if I play with my mouse its really play the chord, why ? :(
hahah loved the Dom joke 😂😂
LOL
Great but how do I open the chord pad? Maybe it's not in Cubase 8.5?
From the lower zone of the projecy window. you should have it on 8.5
@@mixdownonline Thanks Chris. Can't see it down there, just inspector settings, track control settings & zoom controls
hahahah, the joke was cool , love your videos
