  • And then is given the silent treatment in the dugout.

He seems to have grown from a super boy to a super guy in three years.

He allowed 3 hits including 3run-homer and got them all back just by himself.

AntiEchelon Kishin honestly, he did a great job that game. Aside from allowing the 3 run, he smoked it as the first time he pitched this season. It's really nice to see him showing such good results, and I know he's putting a lot of work in himself to become better and better. Just from spring training, he's improved so much at such a quick pace. It's really amazing and left a great impression :--)

Just like you exactly mentioned, his efforts for improvement seems to start paying off now. It looks to me like he's made some changes as a pitcher to have more precautious and early-set compact take-back ('cus MLB balls are felt slipperly for him) and as a hitter to adopt small and swift timing with his right leg's move. And I can easily tell he's lost weight to shape up during winter training.
I believe he's not a genius type. I've seen him several times struggling on the mound in his younger days but I also seen him able to be strong-willed for getting somehow closer to win his team even when he's not in good condition nor with his wild control for the day. I was glad to see again his mental tenacity brought himself up from the conditions in the string training games like you said at such a quick pace. Maybe because he's smart at making cool analysis on what he should do in his baseball world. But I'm worried about his fastball. His pitching mechanism's apt to produce good high fast ball but not for low fast ball. and he looks sometimes nervous on the mound in spite of looking so mature at the batter's box. I hope him to have best condition next outing to pitch but I believe it'll take him one or two years to be at his best performance as a pitcher.

AntiEchelon Kishin Well, he did say in an interview that he felt substantially more nervous to pitch for the first time than hit, so there is that to take into consideration. I know Hedges on the Padres does a great job with this, but I hope his catcher has a good enough eye to be able to give Ohtani insight on his weaknesses and strengths so that Ohtani can work with it. Hedges shows great results on helping out his pitchers, as he takes a lot of the nerves away.
I hope Ohtani doesn't get nervous as much anymore, assuming he was before. He still did an incredible job pitching regardless, but hoping for the best if still nice to do. I'm worried about his curveballs being left in the zone for too long, but I do agree with the low fastball. I haven't seen him throw many clean, low pitches. That being said, he is still improving and getting used to the mound, and he hasn't pitched for awhile. He will be more than fine, and has a very high ceiling of growth. It's amazing how driven he has been throughout his career. His drive and encouragement from his teammates are both undeniable contributors to his growth. :--)

Ohtani made my comment look amateurish and a bit embarrassing.
Martín Maldonado did a very fine job today.
He knew the Athletics would aim at the early count fast balls before Ohtani pitches his spliters.
and Maldonado requested spliters early in the count before winning pitches even for as the 1st pitch once.
      he out-smarted the opponent hitters.
      Congrats! Angels! Congrats Shohei!
