Eh- I honestly don't think it's a miracle cats can live quite long, and even though it's some kind of disease/disability or whatever it is, causing the cat to not grow, I'd imagine it's not much different than to humans, and humans don't necessarily use years by being small.

In that, the caretaker said that when they first noticed that Francis isn't growing like other cats and took him to the vet, the vet said that dwarf cats won't live longer than 5 years old and their life will be full of difficulties. If Francis was a street cat, he wouldn't have been able to defend himself from other stray cats or catch small insects and rodents for food. So, it's actually a testament to the wonderful care of Francis' caretaker that he's still living in his teenage years.

dwarfism comes with a lot of complications, and it doesn't matter what species were talking about. these people have done a fantastic job with this little guy if he's 13 years old. that is an extremely long life for any creature that has dwarfism. he's super cute and big props to the owners

I was just commenting on the fact that all species, humans included, that have dwarfism tend to have a lot of other physical issues that tends to come with dwarfism. Your best bet would be to ask your veterinarian. They can probably give you a good idea of your pets lifespan buy a good physical examination and proper testing. I do not advocate for breeding animals that are known to have dwarfism because of the fact that there can be many other problems that come with that dwarfism. Some of those problems include high levels of pain for the duration of their lifespan. But there are many forms of dwarfism so there are many different ways in which it presents itself

Good on you. It's cruel to give up and trade out pets on a whim like they're decorations, but it's equally damaging to keep them when you know you can't give them the care they need. Even if you love them with all your heart. You made the right decision.

She was legitimately still a kitten when she had her first batch of babies, and only about two seasons later she became oregnant with another batch. We took her in, fixed her and now she is the same size of about a 8 month old kitten. Her first son and two of her second daughters are babies we kept/were given, and they ALL outgrew Lil Mama. Thats why she will forever be our Lil Mama. And ohh gosh she loces scratchies and cuddles... Shes so happy to just lay in the nook of your arm while you watch T.V Edit: upon further thinkage, her size is closer to that of like maybe a year and 3 months or so, she's bigger than 8 months but she's definitely stunted

They can't safeguard their fertility like humans and can be impregnated too soon, without having any control over the matter, and so frequently they become pregnant repeatedly, birthing their kittens alone and dying from complications either during or after the fact...your cat was lucky, Fate brought her & your family together. Cherish her, I am certain that she feels a safety with you and your family that she never dreamed of feeling.
