Desperately need a buff to melee character. Splash damage or significant damage increase. I like that they’re willing to change item skills like BK sword though, many weapons could use a small change like that.
Yeah it was never intended to be as weak as it is, They increased the health of mobs in D2: LoD and increased the damage of spells but did not increase the base damage of weapons. I'm like 99% sure if blizzard north were given more time to work on the game, melee would be in a good spot.
Or better still, the eastern sun devs. Imagine dragonstones, a hundred new runes and 300 new runewords, forging and dstoning stuff onto equipment, not to mention about amthousand new uniques and set items

IMO Most of the unique items deserve at least a small buff as 75% of them are unfortunately Charsi food while melee builds areee struggling with variety. And I heard that runes can`t be stacked due to their unique ID, so why not make shared stash one or two page bigger. And as a third wish - Loot Filter! (It would kill the requests to see more than 32 items on the floor)
Did assassin need all these buffs?? What about some proper melee stuff, like 2h splash damage for barb, melee pally, shifter druid? Sometimes I seriously wonder about their priorities, it just feels so damn random what they choose to fix. Bk sword, that has to be the most obscure thing to suddenly decide to fix
The 2 main things that I like about this patch is the 4 additional Character slots online and the Terrorized Mephisto Treasure Class drops. About the NHD change: if what I've heard is true, monsters will also benefit from it. So, in some cases, the game might be harder.

I think the updates are good, will definitely be playing ladder Season 4, maybe the only person not particularly interested in D4 because how of how dissimilar it is to D2 (which is fine, just not for me). More characters is good, though 10-12 might have been significantly better. Hope you're wrong about going to maintenance mode but you're probably right.

As someone who plays for multiple hours every single day, I'm excited to hear about any kind of changes that are being added.... But alas I am disappointed that there isn't enough new content being added. I think d2r has the potential to be one of the best games of all time if it was just given the proper amount of love and attention. There is hardly anything to do end game wise and I STILL can't help but to keep farming hoping to find more good stuff. Just goes to show the strength of the foundation this game has to build off of if the devs would just realize the gold mine they are sitting on.

I couldn't agree more. I love this game so much and I feel like Blizzard hasn't done nearly as much as they could have, and the stuff they have changed is either very small or with mosiac, overpowered, with a few good exception like the fire druid which is in a great place now. It's like they don't have people who care enough about this game working there anymore and even easy fixes like making a good lobby wasn't even attempted. Or fixing the Rabies build. Lots of missed opportunities.
If everyone will be playing d4 i guess no one would be offended if they added a loot filter. I also wish they expanded the inventory with a charm only section like in some of the mods. The Itemization in this game is why d2 is one of the best games ever and the devs should let player experience this more. I would definitely pick up and ID more items If I had the space in my inventory to do it.
If you have too little inventory space, remove some charms. If you want the power of the maximum number of charms, you trade away the functionality of inventory space. I don't understand why so many people can't grasp the concept of a trade-off. What you're proposing would make the game more of a one-dimensional cookie cutter. And if we go down that route, why not just double or triple inventory space? That would be so much more practical!

Oh, next-hit delay is huge for Fire Druids and Phoenixins. I suppose Wind Druids being able to work in alternating Twisters and Tornadoes is a pretty big upgrade, too. Being able to shift from form to form is pretty nice.
Bender himself stated that wind druid got about a 30% damage boost from NHD being changed. I'm curious if Fire does more damage than Wind now, in all honesty. I'll be testing on ladder start, Gonna enjoy a fire druid.
sad we are in maitenence mode already, but i get it. im hoping we get at least one final "big" patch after D4 launches that fixes/adjusts alot of things within the game, for example, bringing other items up to speed/runeword adjustments, and some QoL changes

The game has only been remastered since August 2021. It shouldn't go into maintenance mode yet! They made a shit ton of money on it and they should support it even with D4 being out. Stop kissing devs asses.. wtf. D2R isn't going to fade away because D4 isn't even close to D2R in game play.
Pretty underwhelming updates, I’m surprised (not that it’s bad) that they would add a change that affects how the game itself plays rather than making the 75% of uniques, particularly exceptional weapons, that are useless more viable.
NHD update went even further than you think. Each individual MISSILE gets its own NHD. For instance, not only can 5 wake of fires stack now, but each individual missile fired now hits from all traps. Mrllama tested it on stream today. It's pretty nutty. The wording implies 5 wake of fire traps will have 5 separate NHD, but each trap still only deals damage with every other missile. But no, it's even stronger.
He missed the interaction with Chain lightning and Lightning Strike. It doesn't directly have an interaction with NHD, but because of the number of bounces subsequent re-casts will be able to hit the same target more frequently. Spamming CL should have more DPS on a group than regular Lightning now. There is also some speculation that Nova has a new interaction with large size monsters resulting in more damage, testing pending.

Holy smokes, there better be more rws coming out ! The Necro and Barb still need a lot of love and would do well to have some of their own rws like literally every other class has! (White is meh) Also what about melee improvement and an enigma alt??? These are areas that could easily be addressed with a few more runewords (which seems to be their preferred vehicle of additions) And the set change is kind of odd. So many sets and uniques could use this attention and it is now clear that they are ok with making some changes, so what the heck!?! All in all, though. I am thrilled that I live in a world where one of my favorite games got a quality remaster and update! I do think Vicarious Visions has done a fabulous job, I just a part of the population that still wants more!
lazy sob blizzard devs can't make any meaningful changes two ladder seasons in a row?! why not change the uniques? they did it in 1.07, 1.08 and 1.09! adding a ton of new runewords in 1.10/1.11... like where are the cool new updated uniques items?!?! how hard is it to just add some cool stats or buff the values on some useless uniques that people dont even bother picking up cause they have no value whatsoever? a game full of useless trash items = trash game, amirite??? why not just fix the glaring issue of the useless items? how are the devs just ok with the game's final state being so wack. why are they so scared to shake things up a bit, add some cool mods and enable some interesting new builds!? and don't even get me started on the issues with skills...

Three major things need to be fixed for melee chars; Whirlwind needs to trigger ctc on attack and ctc on striking. Smite needs to carry elemental damage boosts from charms etc like all melee strikes do. Zeal whiffing
When are they gonna make BK ring part of the bk set? That would fix the issue of NO good set rings, and it's a flavor win. Could make bk set actually worth trying depending on the set bonuses
Blizz destroyed d2r anyways... I stopped to play the game since they are making something else out of it... Nobody asked for changes like that. The game was awesome anyways... now its meh.
ALSO an additional way to get tele on gear. Doesn't have to be as OP as enigma with huge strength and MF. Like vipermagi level stats runeword for like ist gul ist. Something that would be an affordable way to work toward enigma
I don't care about the new patch and I think Diablo 4 is a boring MMO so I don't care about that either. ARPGs feel sort of dead at the moment at least single player dungeon crawling focused ones.

From a Developer standpoint, this "maintenance mode" is okay. There comes a time in the life cycle of all games where development on another title starts and that overlap does not always afford teams and companies time to do major updates to their older or first titles. This game isn't mine, and I can't change what I didn't make so I am content with what we have. I am very glad we were given D2R and happy to enjoy it in the stable and great state it is in for a long time to come. Thanks for the update timely videos as always Dbrunski.
I havent played d2r in 4 months now, im just burnt out and not excited for any of these changes on top of it. They really need to upgrade uniques and such like that. Many people find grail items but why does it matter when runewords over power everything lol
Diablo 4 was boring. I hope they make some drastic class changes to shift the meta next patch. I have been waiting since D2R was released for PD2 level class changes.
This game is soooo OLD i went back to playing and cant get excited anymore im not even interested in D4 as I had enough of D3 its all the same game play. For new people it must be FUN and thats a good thing. Have fun
4 x 1 mil or whoever plays... alot of data and its not free. Charclacter file may be small but backend they need 100% need to store additional data with it.
every d2r patch has been a joke. this game had so much potential but they squandered it in so many ways. Why are there not more item/skill changes? Why are terror zones not elaborated on and change something about them so the monsters hit harder.. so sad nothing has changed

Waiting for D4 at this point. Really wish they would open up D2R to modding communities like PD2 and MedianXL. Not every D2 player will move to D4 and it's a great way to keep the Diablo community alive. Also Blizzard would make a boat load of money if they made the second Diablo 2 expansion that had planned guild towns and such. Every hardcore Diablo player would pay hand over first for new Diablo content and Blizzard loves money so it was a win-win that never happened.
It's hard for casual players to get a respec token, not every one is trying to kill baal and diablo over 50 times just to be able to respec your points
Good changes not a lot of changes… seems like they forgot to make changes and then was like oh yeah make these 5 changes real quick before the new patch drops.
a character slot is just a record in there sql database server that keeps track of all your items and all your attributes doesnt take that much space....
I would love to find a perfect COA. I’ve been luckier with Griffin’s but I honestly think that both of these endgame items should be upgraded to +2 to all skills. Perhaps add * 15 fcr? on nightwings ❤

Oh, next-hit delay is huge for Fire Druids and Phoenixins. I suppose Wind Druids being able to work in alternating Twisters and Tornadoes is a pretty big upgrade, too.
Being able to shift from form to form is pretty nice.
It's on a per cast basis, so no need to alternate between twister and tornado. It's a straight-up buff for wind druids.
Bender himself stated that wind druid got about a 30% damage boost from NHD being changed. I'm curious if Fire does more damage than Wind now, in all honesty. I'll be testing on ladder start, Gonna enjoy a fire druid.

sad we are in maitenence mode already, but i get it. im hoping we get at least one final "big" patch after D4 launches that fixes/adjusts alot of things within the game, for example, bringing other items up to speed/runeword adjustments, and some QoL changes

The game has only been remastered since August 2021. It shouldn't go into maintenance mode yet! They made a shit ton of money on it and they should support it even with D4 being out. Stop kissing devs asses.. wtf. D2R isn't going to fade away because D4 isn't even close to D2R in game play.
Pretty underwhelming updates, I’m surprised (not that it’s bad) that they would add a change that affects how the game itself plays rather than making the 75% of uniques, particularly exceptional weapons, that are useless more viable.

NHD update went even further than you think. Each individual MISSILE gets its own NHD. For instance, not only can 5 wake of fires stack now, but each individual missile fired now hits from all traps. Mrllama tested it on stream today. It's pretty nutty. The wording implies 5 wake of fire traps will have 5 separate NHD, but each trap still only deals damage with every other missile. But no, it's even stronger.
He missed the interaction with Chain lightning and Lightning Strike. It doesn't directly have an interaction with NHD, but because of the number of bounces subsequent re-casts will be able to hit the same target more frequently. Spamming CL should have more DPS on a group than regular Lightning now.
There is also some speculation that Nova has a new interaction with large size monsters resulting in more damage, testing pending.

I was wondering the same, it's very possible CL will beat Nova in small packs of 3-10. Might be ideal for TZs.

Holy smokes, there better be more rws coming out ! The Necro and Barb still need a lot of love and would do well to have some of their own rws like literally every other class has! (White is meh) Also what about melee improvement and an enigma alt??? These are areas that could easily be addressed with a few more runewords (which seems to be their preferred vehicle of additions)
And the set change is kind of odd. So many sets and uniques could use this attention and it is now clear that they are ok with making some changes, so what the heck!?!
All in all, though. I am thrilled that I live in a world where one of my favorite games got a quality remaster and update! I do think Vicarious Visions has done a fabulous job, I just a part of the population that still wants more!

lazy sob blizzard devs can't make any meaningful changes two ladder seasons in a row?! why not change the uniques? they did it in 1.07, 1.08 and 1.09! adding a ton of new runewords in 1.10/1.11... like where are the cool new updated uniques items?!?! how hard is it to just add some cool stats or buff the values on some useless uniques that people dont even bother picking up cause they have no value whatsoever? a game full of useless trash items = trash game, amirite??? why not just fix the glaring issue of the useless items? how are the devs just ok with the game's final state being so wack. why are they so scared to shake things up a bit, add some cool mods and enable some interesting new builds!? and don't even get me started on the issues with skills...

4 more Char Slots is okay, Respec Options are basically nothing cause Tokens are insanely cheap on Non Ladder anyways, rest is forgetable as well. Dont know about that, not really all that exciting.

Three major things need to be fixed for melee chars;
Whirlwind needs to trigger ctc on attack and ctc on striking.
Smite needs to carry elemental damage boosts from charms etc like all melee strikes do.

Blizz destroyed d2r anyways... I stopped to play the game since they are making something else out of it... Nobody asked for changes like that. The game was awesome anyways... now its meh.
ALSO an additional way to get tele on gear. Doesn't have to be as OP as enigma with huge strength and MF. Like vipermagi level stats runeword for like ist gul ist. Something that would be an affordable way to work toward enigma
I don't care about the new patch and I think Diablo 4 is a boring MMO so I don't care about that either. ARPGs feel sort of dead at the moment at least single player dungeon crawling focused ones.
Am I the only one who thinks that should work like that by default and doesn’t need to be an official patch? Don’t take me wrong I’m still happy with the changes, there are definitely in the right direction, however I’m a bit disappointed that the devs literally become lazy with the content and decided to actually fix the game,that should be done at first place with the D2R release eh?
From a Developer standpoint, this "maintenance mode" is okay. There comes a time in the life cycle of all games where development on another title starts and that overlap does not always afford teams and companies time to do major updates to their older or first titles. This game isn't mine, and I can't change what I didn't make so I am content with what we have. I am very glad we were given D2R and happy to enjoy it in the stable and great state it is in for a long time to come. Thanks for the update timely videos as always Dbrunski.

I havent played d2r in 4 months now, im just burnt out and not excited for any of these changes on top of it. They really need to upgrade uniques and such like that. Many people find grail items but why does it matter when runewords over power everything lol
Diablo 4 was boring. I hope they make some drastic class changes to shift the meta next patch. I have been waiting since D2R was released for PD2 level class changes.
Hey dbrunski what is the impact of NHD on lightning sorc? I understand nhd still applies to CL for example?
They won't do it, they want D2R to stay annoying as much as possible by forcing u to collect unstackable games in limited inventory just for laugh
This game is soooo OLD i went back to playing and cant get excited anymore im not even interested in D4 as I had enough of D3 its all the same game play. For new people it must be FUN and thats a good thing. Have fun
I really love D2 but everytime I start a ladder I'm just getting burned. Turn out doing 200-300 of the same run is repetitive.
D4 in a month, not surprised its low on new rws/content/QoL fixes tbh. Probably the last patch for d2r for a while.
Please remove the knockback from paladin's smite skill, changes nothing against bosses but its damn annoying against regular mobs.
D4 is literally the worst diablo game in existence, its borderline Immortals bs, nobody should buy that overpriced shit.
4 x 1 mil or whoever plays... alot of data and its not free. Charclacter file may be small but backend they need 100% need to store additional data with it.

every d2r patch has been a joke. this game had so much potential but they squandered it in so many ways. Why are there not more item/skill changes? Why are terror zones not elaborated on and change something about them so the monsters hit harder.. so sad nothing has changed
One small change for sins that would be cool.. especially in early play... mana after kill... why dose it not work at all for traps??
So they ruined this season by shorten this season. Just to release this season again LMAO. They literally added nothing new to this season. All the did was made some changes to the game for a better experience lol. There is literally nothing different this season from ladder and non ladder let that sink in lol
Waiting for D4 at this point. Really wish they would open up D2R to modding communities like PD2 and MedianXL. Not every D2 player will move to D4 and it's a great way to keep the Diablo community alive. Also Blizzard would make a boat load of money if they made the second Diablo 2 expansion that had planned guild towns and such. Every hardcore Diablo player would pay hand over first for new Diablo content and Blizzard loves money so it was a win-win that never happened.
Making money and making lots of money are 2 very different things

It's hard for casual players to get a respec token, not every one is trying to kill baal and diablo over 50 times just to be able to respec your points
Good changes not a lot of changes… seems like they forgot to make changes and then was like oh yeah make these 5 changes real quick before the new patch drops.
We need splash damage melee jewel mods. And currency tab. And a loot filter....
If uniques haven't been buffed for end game viability then I'll be disappointed.

reasonable thing with little effort: a little bit of a mix up / fix to some terror zones

a character slot is just a record in there sql database server that keeps track of all your items and all your attributes doesnt take that much space....
im not bothering with s4 tbh. ill just play my non ladder characters and pvp

D4 wont be playable for a year just like D3 it might even be worse.
Rather than beast in a sword they should allow act 5 merc be able to use axes. Makes no sense a barbarian can’t use axes.
I would love to find a perfect COA. I’ve been luckier with Griffin’s but I honestly think that both of these endgame items should be upgraded to +2 to all skills. Perhaps add * 15 fcr? on nightwings ❤

I don’t know about FCR on NW though.. be very nice to have the extra skills, I don’t like to give up to all skills in order to get my best in slot. I would love to see the high lords change to +2 at level 99 I think that would be a good quality of life change.. Mara’s wouldn’t change. I believe in limits ..
@@quietlightning4063 Why do you want one item that's clearly best, removing all choice? In most people's opinion either the item that's best in slot should get nerfed or all the other options that are too weak should get buffed.
