They are false numbers.. the problem of Spain is the sumerged economy, and is a problem of education in the end. I dont know no body withouth employ around, and Im from Madrid and Castilla. I dont say nothing about Andalucia, probably there, with 40 years of socialism they are quite true the high numbers of unemployed

@@aalb1873 Do I say that we have a good economy? I just answer that the numbers are false, because are completelty false numbers. And the exteriotipe of an Spaninsh country with no jobs and bad cuality of life are also completly false, that always come from Anglo-Saxon countries, that live in their closed world, and falsehoods that also come from our own countrymen influenced by the anti-Spanish left. Our economy is shit because of those leftists parties and their suicide politics and our regional nacionalism with many unusefull regions and unutiles public salaries to pay. Our economy is shit, completely true, but we still have the longest life expectancy, we still have the best public sanitary program, and because of thar, the best quality of life of the world... We have a shameful submerged economy, which I don't think changes with the policies of our current governments, but what we don't have is unemployed.

I can comprehend the sense of rage and frustration about the misconceptions and prejudices of foreigners.
I didn’t want to intend Spain is a bad country compared to north european states.
Looking at how many people every year visit Spain for it’s wonderful places, good weather, high quality of life and hospitality are the best answer.
It is obvious Spain is an high developed country: my focus was about the problem of the job market.
So I think unemployment rate don’t mean people haven’t a job but a lack of opportunities because if legal jobs are few people skilled and well educated but without social privileges they are in disadvantage.

Living in the country that ultimately ends up first on this list, is sad. Those are official unemployment rates, but I suspect the actual/real figures are much worse. When you have that many people not working, every salary matters so much more! Each person who works has to support so many people, meaning it's difficult to get out of poverty. When you spend as much as you earn, you're not going to teach your kids how to manage finances or budget properly - since your daily expenses consume everything you make.
Things get worse when the super rich flaunt their latest Lamborghinis and Ferraris while the poor struggle to make ends meet.
We have the wealthiest square mile on the continent, but also so much poverty and high unemployment. A tiny tax base (they just increased VAT by 1% this year) of middle class citizens to support the majority.

The effects of apartheid. When apartheid ended that didn’t mean jobs would come flowing in. As the median age grows the available labor force expands too. Since 90% of the population was deprived of wealth and assets. There aren’t enough assets available to support their expanding labor force. They need foreign investment, but with wide spread poverty corruption becomes an issue. Most countries on this list are experiencing the same thing except the avenues getting them to that point are different.

I worked in Spain from 1984 to 1989, to help with my studies. One there works out of the books, or periods of 6 months contracts and 3 months unemployment. In that way the employer doesn't have to pay for a free month vacation per year worked and instead the government pays for 3 months of unofficial vacation. It's still happening the same way. I still have friends there who only worked during summer seasons and saved money enough to even buy their own houses. There's work, but it's mostly under the table. For Spain, being the 5th (some sources outside Spain, claim it to be the 3rd) economy in Europe, it's really unbelievable such high unemployment numbers.

As a Macedonian I am rather pleased that we ended up almost the same as Greece. After all they were responsible for most of our misery with their embargoes, vetoes and general arsehole behaviour. As much as we all hate the North because it was forced upon us. It allowed us to finally join NATO, and since then we've dramatically improved unemployment. As for all those hard years, I think we survived from the generosity of our massive diaspora.

Spain's high unemployment rate is structural and long rooted in the country's history. As a result, Spanish have always migrated to the empire's territories at first, making them rich territories. Then they migrated to the independent countries where Spanish is spoken, and when they went back to run-down Spain they ostentatiously showed their richness. Then it was France's turn and Germany afterwards. The recent economic crisis caused a migration everywhere, especially the UK, the Netherlands and Latin America. No wonder Spain's population density is historically lower than those of most European countries. I'd like Spain to improve its economy while shrinking its unemployment rate below 10%.
