hi guys, ever since releasing this video i've been made aware of the fact that there is a huge mistake in this video on my part and that is when i was talking about Moonbin. in the video i say that he took his own life, but in reality his cause of death hasn't been revealed and his mother has went on Astro's fancafe to ask that people do not speculate on his cause of death, and in an attempt to try and take him, his family, and his fans into consideration, i did the exact opposite, and for that i can't express how sorry i am. i wasn't aware of any of this and always just took what the media outlets said on his passing, but that doesn't take away from the fact that i am spreading something that is directly against the family's wishes. i tried to edit the video in youtube studio, but taking those parts out would take out vital context, but i still want to make it known that this was a huge mistake on my part. i am seeing if there is a way to add text on the screen to let new viewers know, but for now i will be making this comment and adding it into the description. again, to Moonbin, his loved ones, and Aroha's, i am so sorry. i genuinely didn't know and i should have researched it more, especially knowing that the 1 year anniversary is coming up. i hope that this can alleviate some confusion and let you guys know that i have seen your concerns and want to make this right. Thank you to all of those Aroha's who took the time to correct me, please don't feel like correcting me is hate or anything, especially when it comes to something as serious as this, i really appreciate you guys taking the time out of ya'lls day to let me know what i got wrong. again, thank you, and i'm really sorry.
I can't watch the whole video cause I had have a math exam in two days which I didn't even opened my book*RIP my grades*, I just have wanted to say another thing about them that their team have another channel too, Its called @MISS-K-DRAMA (www.youtube.com/@miss-k-drama) with 192K subscribers, at first when I watched few videos I though it was just a cool girl who have more knowledge in K-drama more then me, but the voices started to change and they were kind of familiar and the more I watched it, it was the same voices from kookielit, I noticed the similar editing style and most important, the clickbaited thumbnails and titles, its the same thing as their this channel, and they would just say and repeat the same video in a few weeks and days, nothing intresting, I used to watch their video which I totally regret, sometimes I think that if they make the scripts by chatgpt Edit: Tbh I think they saw this video cause now they gave increased the length of their videos too 💀
The voice isn't even the same from when the channel started. The voice from 2 yrs ago is so human, but the current voice is watchmojo clone10000 sounding if not completely ai. That channel is so sus now.
the original voice said she was sick and she couldnt handle editing and doing voice overs so her friend will be taking over for some time and then never came back
@@isabear478 yeah, then the "friend" took over and narrated for a while. Then the situation happened where they briefly had a new voice. People were complaining about the new voice, and saying that they missed the old voice. Kookielit replied to some of these comments stating that the "old voice" would be back, and they made the community tab post mentioned in this video, stating that they were all taking holidays, and they were using a temporary voice. After that, I watched a handful of their videos (I've tried to avoid their content), and I saw a lot of people commenting complaining that they were using an AI voice, and under the same video there was other people commenting that they were happy that the "old voice" was back. They very easily could have used the old videos and recordings of this person to make an AI voice generator. There was enough complaints about the change in the person narrating that maybe they decided to replicate the previous voice that viewers were familiar with. Perhaps the person left and they didn't expect there to be a large amount of complaints. By using AI they would also not have to pay a person to narrate.
i think a lot of channels cover “the dark side of kpop” but they cover things that aren’t even dark, just theories that people have instead of soaking on actual mistreatment and awful companies but that’s just my opinion 🤷♀️
@@duckypatothere’s this channel called “Bts forever”, they make kpop shorts and only shed light on terrible things and are commonly bashing idols such as wonyoung, babymonster and blackpink, they REALLY hate YG groups for some reason, they always put BTS on this pedestal like they can do no wrong but when it comes to other idols it’s just them starting fanwars and hating on everyone except BTS edit: they also steal edits as background videos for their shorts
Kookielit has ALWAYS been a CONTENT FARM. Paid narrators are rotating staff members or AI. There are many kpop content farms. Like BeBoss TV. They’ve been around for YEARS.
Uhh I remember I unsubscribe when Moonbin pass... This person was uploading basically the same video every day about that case, she wasn't uploading anything new, just parafrased the same over and over again. It's was just opportunist, the comments of their last video where so disgusted cause was so obvios they we're taking advantage of it... Hours later they deleted lots of videos about this case, but only because people notice. I did not watch their videos again after that
I’m actually pretty convinced that the ‘new voice’ and the ‘old voice’ when it came back are both AI. The inflection and emphasis on some words is super robotic, and sometimes it gets things wrong - like having a sympathetic tone where it isn’t needed. Either that or the new voice person is a trash voice actor and the old voice became trash when she came back.
I’m pretty sure they’re AI. If you listen carefully, sometimes the timing when speaking is just…not natural. Like it’s too rigid and robotic. It gets really obvious during the “sympathetic” tone. It’s definitely different than the actual original voice.
@@x0xmadix0x Yeah it's definitely an AI red flag and it only started happening after the 'old voice' returned which is why I think that that's around the time they started using it.
Hi, Moon Bin's cause of death was never released to the public, the original article reporting on his death which was released only a few hours after the fact, mentions the police ruling out murder and suggesting suicide, however it was later stated he left no note and wasn't confirmed a suicide. Ofc this doesn't mean that because he didn't leave a note it doesn't make it a suicide, but it wasn't confirmed as one. If an autopsy was performed it wasn't publicly released and his mother left a letter on Astro's fancafe asking people not to speculate on his cause of death. Likewise those people stating he died of a heart condition are also misinformed, there is no source to that claim other than what people have observed in past videos of him performing, which is to say, speculation. That is to say we can't make blanket statements on his cause of death. I say this in detail because I can understand why many people are misinformed about Bin due to articles being released shortly after he passed, sensationalising the issue, but saying he took his own life may not be true and can be seen as disrespectful. Sadly most people see this as fact, without pursuing the vailidity of the statement. This isn't hate, but I hope you can correct this information in some way. His death is painful especially this month, to arohas and of course to his own family members and loved ones, even without misinformation still being spread around.
33:49 Scoups of SEVENTEEN also said during a variety show that he searches his name and his members names online to see what the fans are talking about, what they think about their comeback/projects, etc. This is especially sad because of all the hate he received when it was announced that he was exempted from military service due to his ACL injury. Fans need to realize we have power over our idols and so many people abuse it. The hate comments that people mindlessly type have a huge impact on an idols confidence and self image. It’s just so sad to think about an idol reading endless comments and threads of hate towards them/their group 🙁
As someone who used to watch KookieLit, I do in fact remember there being long-form content, and I stopped sticking around after the rebranding due to the very noticeable shift in content from the literacy/evidence, to the vagueness, and even being unable to recognize her voice
What I don't like about kookielit is the blatant fakeness. They will outright say that something is a rumour and we shouldn't jump to conclusions, but then they will talk about the rumours for a few minutes of the video. They base their videos off of rumours whilst trying to look righteous at the same time
hi, i'm sure you meant no harm, but moonbin's cause of death has never been revealed and his family has requested not to speculate and let him rest in peace. suicide or not, it is nevertheless an extremely tragic and sudden death and the world is deeply missing such a wonderful soul like his.
you and ploopy are all I hold onto now 😭 I watched kookielit mostly 2022 and part of last year but when your channel came into my recommended it literally made me so happy! thank you for covering these topics so respectfully, especialmente cuando nadie más lo está, and just overall being a wonderful kpop commentator!
this literally means the world to me thank you so much 🥹❤️💖 voy hacer todo para seguir subiendo videos porque enserio me encanta hacerlos (aunque aveces me da flojera). i’ll try not to disappoint 🫡
41:22 The cause of Moonbin’s death is unknown to the public. Please do not just say what you assume it to be as it is disrespectful to his family, who have asked us not to speculate. His passing is heartbreaking but please do not spread misinformation like that, it hurts his loved ones more than it can ever hurt us.
I really disliked how they spreaded non-confirmed information about Soojin and talked about her in a very judging tone and later switched positions when she was proven innocent. it feels like they helped for Soojins situation to get worse just to act dumb afterwards
true, they were so rude to Soojin for no reason, whenever i used to watch their videos on her i was like,,, what 💀 but when she re-debuted as a soloist they were like, “so happy for her, we’re definitely gonna listen!!” … the switch up was crazy
@@mai_sun thinking that Garam was under age at that moment also makes it worse. They also kept on reporting about her when she went back to school which is disgraceful in my opinion because it shouldn’t concern adults what high school students are doing 😕
THANK YOU! even though I hadn't done a proper deep dive on their content, the thumbnails in themselves alone were disrespectful and weird as fuck. They pretend to care about happenings in kpop and the artists themselves but it's so clear to me that they don't lmfao
@@pancakeswithstrawberriesontop it's not one person, it's a whole team behind the scenes making these topics and videos. the person who talks is merely an employee/someone paid to narrate the videos. it's just like watchmojo but for kpop. and i doubt the "main person" behind the channel is a woman anyways, it's always just men smh.
I will definitely say thank you for this deep dive on Kookielit because as, until two weeks ago, I stopped watching them because I just didn’t feel their work as much but also they were doing the absolute most…Thank you for this!!!
i feel like a lot of people, media outlets included keep insinuating moonbin took his own life, you can tell by the way they word things and talk about him. As an aroha, that makes me really upset, it’s like they want him to have passed in that way in particular, as if it’ll make the story more interesting. We still don’t know what happened to Moonbin and I’m okay with that, it isn’t our business and I hope the rest of astro and his family are healing.
I remember watching Kookielit from pretty much the inception of the channel because that’s the year I got into BTS and observing k-pop fandom culture. Anybody else remember that higher pitched voice providing news and opinions while the screen floated through that purple hallway that looked like 3d skinny balloons? It was definitely giving faceless k-tuber at the beginning, because they did share opinions and didn’t report news in the same way they do now. Then I believe it was somewhere in the middle of 2020 when their content format changed and it became what it looks like now. I do believe that the original owner either sold their channel, or turned the channel into a profit-driven media business (kind of like how Crunchyroll went from a pirating platform started by friends to now a legitimate, multimillion dollar hub for anime). When they opened their website in 2023, I feel like they wanted to expand their k-pop media presence in a Koreaboo type-vein, being a vehicle to promote new groups, and the latest is bringing on that Korean lawyer to answer questions. Also, with the voice acting- after that “new” voice came out of nowhere in 2023 and they made a claim that their staff was trying to rotate their vacation time, I noticed that they started using an AI voice that cloned from the one their viewers were used to. It was at first obvious because it sounded like her, but uncanny and at an unnatural speed with no natural pauses in between words, quotations, or sentences. It was also mispronouncing idol names (like calling BP’s Rosé “Rose”, BTS’ V “Tee-hi-yong”), group names, and Korean words like “sajaegi” that they’ve never had a problem with in the past. The AI voice clone has gotten much better, but if you listen closely you can still hear them mispronouncing the same name two different ways in the same video or not pausing at natural, human moments. Ever since they’ve been able to use the AI voice, they’ve been more efficient in their content farming efforts and channel growth. I mostly only watch Kookielit to see what misinformation, exaggerations, and sensationalism is being fed to international audiences. Sometimes their stories are innocuous, or even positive, but the other times I think they’re like pannchoa in the way they intentionally try to poison the well for the sake of engagement.
I'm not even 20 mins into the video but I wanted to pause to mention a couple of things. I remember when Spill and the associated channels had videos made about them, by D'Angelo Wallace, and Paige Christie (who was going by Petty Paige at the time). I remember initially even after the fact that they were under a corporation was exposed, the Spill channel tried to say that the channel was run by just two people, and it was a passion project. But that didn't make any sense, because of the editing style of the videos combined with the high volume of content being uploaded. Each video had subtitles, and a mixture of stock images and animation. The animation was pretty basic, but most channels who had cartoon characters representing the narrator would use a series of pictures of the characters in different poses, and switch between them. Basically the idea that just two people were responsible for doing the research, writing the script, doing the voiceover, editing, the animation, the subtitles, the thumbnails, and being able to upload multiple times per week... It just didn't make sense. I think they eventually deleted the videos/posts where they were trying to spin the narrative that the channel was started as just a two person project. So I've been sure that Kookielit is a content farm for a long time. I noticed the bio saying that they were a group of friends who loved K-pop, and it reminded me of Spill, and their initial response to the videos being to claim that Spill was just two friends. I've tried to avoid watching Kookielit, due to the content being very surface level at best, and exploitative at worst. But it's ended up in my recommendations enough that I've ended up watching enough of their content to notice a few things. I watched a couple of the videos with the "new voice" and saw people complaining in the comments, and the channel responding to some of these comments saying that it was only temporary. I also watched a few videos since, and noticed people in the comments complaining that they were using an AI voice... At the same time as other people were commenting that they were happy that the old voice was back. So under the same video some people were complaining about the voice being AI, and others were commenting saying they were happy to have the old voice back! I actually wondered if they had used an AI voice generator to sound like the previous narrator. I got interested in the channels social blade, so I paused this video to take a look. The channels views are consistent, except for a huge dip in January 2022. -28,429,409 video views. This means that the channel deleted a number of videos at the same time in January 2022. The deleted videos had a combined number of 28,429,409 views between them. Anyway, I don't know if anything I just mentioned is touched on later in this video, as I'm less than a quarter of the way through.
omg i love D’Angelo Wallace and Paige Cristine, but i knew something was going on with them deleting videos, i just couldn’t put my finger on it and completely forgot to check their social blade, so thank you so much for letting me and others know!! i noticed them mainly, if not just exclusively deleting videos with the original Kookielit voice. tbh i wouldn’t be shocked if they created a playlist of all of the videos she voiced and then deleted them all 🤐 also, i thought there was something wrong with the voice in the new videos, but i thought that that was just how she talked, but now looking back, it really does sound like they’re using AI of the newer voice, which would make sense since they want to pump out content. using AI of a real voice is just so weird to me idk it feels off
@@duckypato this video was incredible, you did an amazing job. I totally agree with you. I think it's most likely that the channel was originally started by one person. They received an offer to buy the channel, and they sold it because the money meant more than continuing to run the channel to them, for whatever reason. I think that mass deletion of videos in January 2022 was the people who brought the channel removing the old content. The older videos probably had a slightly or very different style, or had elements to them that would be jarring compared with the current content. Like it would have been obvious that the channel had changed. 28,429,409 is *a lot* of views. I wonder how many videos were deleted to add up to that. With the AI voice, I wonder if they'd planned to start using an AI voice generator to save money from the beginning, or if they decided to create one using the voice that viewers had gotten used to after they got a bunch of comments complaining about it. There's a whole bunch of different situations that could have happened. The narrator could have left to do other things, and maybe nobody expected there to be a load of negative comments in response. Did they plan on making an AI voice generator that sounded like the long-term narrator, or did they only do it because they got enough of a backlash? Were they planning on using AI so they didn't have to pay someone to do voiceovers or not? I'd be really interested in seeing you cover other K-pop channels in the future if that's something you would like to do.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve always gotten very odd vibes from their channel. And it’s definitely not “a group of friends” a while ago I stumbled upon one of their videos and they literally used the wrong photos for multiple idols, and were getting roasted in the comments. I tried Googling the idols and the wrong photos they sued popped up in the first few searches 💀
I’m so glad you’re covering this because I really appreciate and admire your research/presentation. I started to feel something wrong from kookielit last year and then they started miss pronouncing a lot of group and members names then I knew something was wrong but couldn’t tell exactly what. Thank you for explaining it all!
of course! thank you, im glad you like the video! they’ve been on my radar for a while now, they always gave me weird vibes ever since the new voice was introduced
I've repeatedly noticed the mispronouncing of names! You give a lot of grace, but I personally don't understand how you can have a channel focused entirely on kpop and not bother to know (or at LEAST learn) how to pronounce the kpop idols' names. I've heard the same names being pronounced differently from video to video. I've heard the voiceover keep pronouncing Rosé from Blackpink as "Rose". Like??? That one is so incredibly basic, and everyone in kpop spaces is fully aware that her stage name is Rosé. That Kookielit apparently doesn't, despite acting as an authority on the kpop industry, clearly shows that whoever is reading the script (and also everyone one else on that "team" who never bothered to correct them) has no actual knowledge and is doing just that--reading a script. 😬
Hey, just so you know, the cause of Moonbin’s death has not been revealed to the public and his family has asked people not to speculate on his manner of death, so please refrain from saying that he died by suicide because his manner of death is not known and is something his family wishes to keep private.
i commented about this too. i think most people assume it was suicide because the police speculated to reporters about that being the most likely cause, and then western outlets ran with it without fact checking. honestly, the police in that case absolutely SUCK and i hope they got reprimanded to hell for speculating and speaking on such a private manner.
Also would you mind doing one on everglow-up? I used to like her videos but recently she started acting very odd and after her support for Is**el she’s gotten worse and worse and I feel like more people should be aware
i want to make a video on her since i used to watch her videos, but stopped when she started targeting certain groups super hard for no reason, but hearing her say that boycotts do nothing and kind of defending is**el i was shocked to say the least. but, i don’t know if i could really add anything to the conversation that was already had since so many people covered her and made amazing videos, but if i can find some more things, i’ll definitely make one!! thank you for the suggestion! 🫶
I'd be so interested to see this as well. I watched her for a little bit but how aggressive she was when talking about certain topics with no actual backing to her logic + the way she spoke over/talked down to black American k-pop fans made me feel super uneasy.
holy crap thank you so so much for talking about this. i really liked their videos a couple years ago and immediately noticed when they switched their host to AI. which happened to make me notice the thumbnails and some of their footage being AI as well right after. i tried to comment on it and never noticed anyone in their comments complaining so thought i might be being ridiculous.
no cuz I remember now watching their videos back when it was just the one person and swear that was in like 2020 and their vids were wayyy longer and reminded me of midnight theories I thought I was tripping and confusing the two at some point but nah they just completely rebranded i stopped watching them long ago cuz their thumbnails and the way they would talk ab situations really made me uncomfortable and I kinda just had a feeling they were a content farm especially when their drama channel was being recommended to me and I recognized that voice immediately they aren’t slick 🙁
omg that just unlocked a memory for me, i’ve been watching midnight theories for a long time and istg i remember confusing them with another youtuber. there’s no way that was kookielit bro omg…
Oh! That channel! They pop up on my for-you feed a lot, but the titles/thumbnails were ju-u-ust sketchy enough that I never clicked on them. I feel so justified now! ;;;^^
I learn so much with every video you post. You always cover sensitive, delicate topics very gracefully and with respect. You are a true scholar. (Also I thought the whipped cream in the game you're playing was garlic for like 40 minutes.)
I never liked the way that without fail Kookielit gives a one sentence opinion after every news item. It feels like you are being told how you should feel about something
When the "voice" mispronounces Bvlgari as beh-vl-gari or worst, artists' names you can't help but wonder the AI isn't AI-ing 😅 they are definitely a company runned channel IMO
I didn’t expect the d’angelo mention, but ayeee nice- kookielit had always seemed off to me, like they always sounded fake, so I’m glad I stopped watching them so quickly after finding them in the first place. This was a great coverage on them!!
I just wanna say, usually I don’t watch videos like this because I get bored and I’ve wanted to know about this topic for a long time, but I sat through most of this video mainly because of the gameplay in the background. It kept me really invested lmao. Thank you!
Just discovered your channel. This was really well-researched and a good listen. Also, I love your Spanglish interjections. I grew up in South Florida and they made me very nostalgic for how people talk there.
It’s so good you &😅 others are covering how problematic this channel is, I remember I posted a comment on one of their videos a year ago criticizing the way they handled something that had happened involving NewJeans member Danielle. I remember thinking why no one was criticizing the channel back then and the crappy way they’d cover issues. I had pressed “not interested” on their channel so they wouldn’t be recommended anymore and my life has been better for it. This is the comment I left last year about the way they seemed to support racist comments from netizens and support idols appeasing those racist netizens: “I have a problem with KOOKIELIT and how they phrased the entire Danielle bit. First of all, highlighting a racist netizen comment saying “I liked new jeans because there were no Chinese” as if that’s a valid criticism. Second of all saying “thankfully Danielle apologized quickly” what do you mean thankfully? She should’ve never had to. This whole thing is ridiculous and the racist comments from netizens about the Chinese are what should be highlighted here. I have a problem with the way that entire portion was explained.”
Never liked kookielit, they got so annoying and are the reason I don't listen to rumors in kpop until the company responds. They spread misinformation and exploit idols+fans for money. Not to mention the minor idols, instead of showing the dark side of young children debuting they exploit the kids exploitation for a bit of clicks and views. They give me the same vibe as Gracy grace. EDIT: i forgot to mention she definitely used niki's (enha) exploitation for click bait
I had gotten in to her channel because of the sasaeng vids and I really like learning about sasaengs, then when I subbed after watching a few sasaeng vids I started scrolling through he other vids and I was like wtf, I happily unsubbed after that
31:35 My favorite group is EXID and they ALWAYS pronounce their name wrong like their name is E-X-I-D but they pronouncing it as exit they're a "big" kpop channel and talked about them multiple times they at least should bother to pronounce their name (and obviously other name) right 😭
i couldn't agree more with everything you said i used to watch their videos but never again that channel is weired and is 100% a farm. Youve earned yourself a sub. please creating great vids
This!!! I’ve always had an issue with how they present their kpop news. The misinformation they put out is crazy and the shade toward some groups is so unprofessional
Kookielit also doesunt care for second gen idols, she not reserch them properly and always gets stuff abt them wrong and spreds misinfo, yet she uses their traumas for attention. She has multiple vids talking abt how tvxq, suju, exo, snsd had stalker fans who make them unsafe, always hav them in her mouth but doesunt show them respect. She reuploaded footage of suju in their dorms taken by stalkers, tvxq hospital records found by stalkers and that made them resurface online when they were abt to be forgotten..
I remember binging their videos to catch up to their newer ones and watching them back-to-back made it more obvious that some of the things they talked about were being blown out of proportion and was only made to have something to upload. It started feeling like a content farming gossip channel.
I remember going through UA-cam with my friend and we saw a video about Joshua that made it seem like he did something horrible, we both panicked and click onto the video only for it to be a stupid dating rumour 😭 the way it was worded and the thumbnail made it look like he killed someone
Holy Jumping Mariachi, A E and C! The volume and variety of comments on this particular vid, from Hate in general, to Haters in particular, to the whole of K-Pop, is staggering. You have certainly struck a nerve.
your videos are genuinely so good and i also appreciate you for using spanenglish (i think thats what it's called) as someone who is bilingual i understand that some things are better said in another language rather than english
26:27 I think it's not even simpler than it being a conspiracy, she could have followed Gyubin and Singing Beetle to DM them to have a paid video on the Kookielit channel and then unfollowed when the gig is over
every goddamn video of theirs is just an AI-generated script at this point. I have given up on them, they sympathize with too many disgraced predators in the industry and show no remorse about it either.
As someone who used to watch Kookielit as a baby kpop stan in order to learn more about kpop, I've followed the channel for a while. Back around mid 2022 they would promote their website that was full of kpop quizzes and news. After about two months or so they deleted the website and stopped promoting it. Just so you know.
i had to look them up but oh my god i remember them!! they are so weird towards Blackpink, Le Sserafim, and ggsin general. it’s so shocking that they have so much support on their weird ass videos. i’ll add them to the list 🫡
@@duckypato thank you! Your deep dives are incredibly well made and I really want the weird kpop UA-camrs to be exposed because of their damaging false narratives surrounding the kpop industry. You’re doing a great job. 💜
@@duckypatono literally and the hate towards wonyoung is also weird she/he or whomever has a huge problem with girl groups and really sometimes it’s seems like women in general the amount of misogynistic comments they made about BLACKPINK and wonyoung is disgusting
@@duckypato Ive seen their channel and it's 100% ragebait. They post very rarely and the narration is very aggressive and off-putting which just garners toxic people to create a toxic fanbase. it's a small channel, but def weird. They live off of attention and exposure.
Thank you so much for covering this topic. I really look forward to watching your videos whenever they are posted. Kookielit is one account that I greatly dislike for various different reasons including many of those that you have mentioned in your video. I am not knowledgeable enough to comment about other situations and news that they have shared however I am a Hunnie (Fan of the original 4 member of FIFTY FIFTY). Kookielit has made several video about the lawsuit and everything surrounding it however there have been many issues around their videos such as not reporting information sharing the exposes (at least to my knowledge) made by the three former members that were posted to their social media, blindly trusting information from biased sources and using sources such as soompi which cause issues such as misinformation, bias and some information not being reported. Unfortunately multiple UA-camrs have spread misinformation about this situation such as, Kookielit, Ploopy, Priscilla Kwon and Stephanie Soo (who fortunately has taken her video down) and this led to UA-cam being a place which has a greater number of supporters for the company ATTRAKT than other platforms. This also means that there are less people criticising these videos which means the misinformation is spread even more as people continue to watch the videos By calling out and addressing accounts such as Kookielit I hope that people who watch these channels begin to question what and who they watch even more. Thank you once again for covering this topic and I hope that this comment made sense to those who read it
i’m not completely caught up on the Fifty Fifty stuff, but i will never trust a company over people who were in a group and actually living it. i should’ve mentioned Fifty Fifty because Kookielit has been on Attrackt’s ass for a while now, which is why some people allege that they might be getting paid, but idk how true that, but it would make sense and apparently a lot of channels can be bought out to show just one side of the story. i’ll make sure to look more into Fifty Fifty’s story more and if i can i’ll try to cover the story because i have noticed that people side a little *too* much with the company and using Keena returning to the company as like a “gotcha” moment…
i personally find her very creepy. she definitely kinda spreads misinformation, and also focuses on kinda creepy, sad things. it’s more so like “exposing” idols in my opinion. i don’t like how she used actual serious things, like sulii (not sure if i spelt her name right), moonbin & the whole loona thing. her thumbnails have also really creeped me out.
YES, kookelit always brings up drama literally nobody is talking about and makes it seem like a big deal, and I find it especially weird, is that the voice for kookelit has changed over the years, and has a lifeless voice that sounds ai, which makes me think it’s just a content farm.
hey! i really appreciated the video but i do want to comment on something you said. i don’t think it’s fair that you said moonbin’s cause of death was suicide. his actual cause of death is not actually known to the public, and his autopsy results are private. however, i do understand how you got suicide as his cause of death considering the police speculated to reporters (fuck them for that, honestly) about it “probably being suicide”. Moonbin’s family have stated that they don’t want people speculating on his cause of death, so i don’t think using a speculated cause of death as fact is a good approach. i think the best way to put it is that he passed very suddenly of unforeseen circumstances. that being said, i love your channel and the effort and love you put into each and every one of your videos! keep up the good work!!
Let's call kookielit - it. Not she, not them😅 and i always felt that it's voice is AI generated cause sounds as uncanny valley. The same about DearPeachie, even so it useful. And they take time for creating i think it's also something ai made🤔
Kookielit has always made videos about the ''dark side of kpop'' is what i would say and it's causing my depression to get worse but i'm addicted to her videos.
I once saw a comment on a tiktok addressing the blank2y member being exposed for abusing his gf saying that they won't believe the rumors since kookielit hadn't made a video about it, fully ignoring the police reports, cctv footage and him getting kicked out of his group. drama channels like these need to onderstand how much influence they have especially in an era of internet where people refuse to do media analysis or research/form their own opinions
I’m honestly wondering if Kookielit has an AI voice for their videos. The cadence of the voice isn’t natural. Even if you compare it to news reporters.
i've seen confirmation from youtubers that the demonetization thing where you still end up with ads on a video that isn't monetized, even people who's channels don't qualify for adsense end up with ads on them. its a very predatory thing yt does.
they usually leave by going to other place like say china but now countries like china and other ones are sending them back to north korea when they catch them its not easy these days it must have been terrifying i just hope his story isnt being used for monitary gains
I’m a more recent kpop fan (about one year now) and I used to watch her videos up until recently because I like the channels that catch me up with the news because there’s always a lot thats going on, so I never knew her channel before the change mentioned. However, a month or two ago I really started looking at the thumbnails and they way they were edited were weird. Like why would you put duct tape on the idols mouths and other weird editing things. Also as I scrolled back to see the older videos, some of the titles are a little off putting with the way they’re phrased. Also the opinions often are flipped after an event; one example being how the channel talked about illit before their debut and then after. The channel seemed to not like illit before the debut, especially when taking about the Paris fashion week and r u next. However, after illit debuted, the channel spoke pretty positively of illit so that’s weird to me too. If you have an opinion, it’s definitely okay to change your mind, but these opinions were only going with the most popular ones (idk how else to phrase it but like hate trains and stuff).
hi guys, ever since releasing this video i've been made aware of the fact that there is a huge mistake in this video on my part and that is when i was talking about Moonbin. in the video i say that he took his own life, but in reality his cause of death hasn't been revealed and his mother has went on Astro's fancafe to ask that people do not speculate on his cause of death, and in an attempt to try and take him, his family, and his fans into consideration, i did the exact opposite, and for that i can't express how sorry i am. i wasn't aware of any of this and always just took what the media outlets said on his passing, but that doesn't take away from the fact that i am spreading something that is directly against the family's wishes. i tried to edit the video in youtube studio, but taking those parts out would take out vital context, but i still want to make it known that this was a huge mistake on my part. i am seeing if there is a way to add text on the screen to let new viewers know, but for now i will be making this comment and adding it into the description. again, to Moonbin, his loved ones, and Aroha's, i am so sorry. i genuinely didn't know and i should have researched it more, especially knowing that the 1 year anniversary is coming up. i hope that this can alleviate some confusion and let you guys know that i have seen your concerns and want to make this right.
I can't watch the whole video cause I had have a math exam in two days which I didn't even opened my book*RIP my grades*, I just have wanted to say another thing about them that their team have another channel too, Its called @MISS-K-DRAMA (www.youtube.com/@miss-k-drama) with 192K subscribers, at first when I watched few videos I though it was just a cool girl who have more knowledge in K-drama more then me, but the voices started to change and they were kind of familiar and the more I watched it, it was the same voices from kookielit, I noticed the similar editing style and most important, the clickbaited thumbnails and titles, its the same thing as their this channel, and they would just say and repeat the same video in a few weeks and days, nothing intresting, I used to watch their video which I totally regret, sometimes I think that if they make the scripts by chatgpt
Edit: Tbh I think they saw this video cause now they gave increased the length of their videos too

The voice isn't even the same from when the channel started. The voice from 2 yrs ago is so human, but the current voice is watchmojo clone10000 sounding if not completely ai.
That channel is so sus now.
yeah lol, the voice is def AI it hurts my ears so bad
the original voice said she was sick and she couldnt handle editing and doing voice overs so her friend will be taking over for some time and then never came back

Like Anna pop and etc.
@@Myheartmelody-zx4fk I never said she was
@@isabear478 yeah, then the "friend" took over and narrated for a while.
I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if Kookielit contributed to the "dark side of kpop" mindset with their thumbnails and stuff.
but isn't midnight theories a good channel? I never saw people hating on them @kf5338
@kf5338 ntm on midnight theories… they’re good, they cover things good imo
i think a lot of channels cover “the dark side of kpop” but they cover things that aren’t even dark, just theories that people have instead of soaking on actual mistreatment and awful companies but that’s just my opinion 🤷♀️

"mera" is really good too. might be inactive now tho.
I’m actually pretty convinced that the ‘new voice’ and the ‘old voice’ when it came back are both AI. The inflection and emphasis on some words is super robotic, and sometimes it gets things wrong - like having a sympathetic tone where it isn’t needed.
Either that or the new voice person is a trash voice actor and the old voice became trash when she came back.
the “sympathetic” tone can be so shady at times too!!
@@4niasomnia573 Absolutely. I mean, it was always robotic, but it's become much worse since the 'new voice' began.
Kookielit DEFINITELY used to be one girl. Adorable content. I was so weirded out when it changed.
They base their videos off of rumours whilst trying to look righteous at the same time
41:20 just wanted to say that moonbins death has not been confirmed as suicide and his mother has asked people not to speculate on the cause of death
hi, i'm sure you meant no harm, but moonbin's cause of death has never been revealed and his family has requested not to speculate and let him rest in peace. suicide or not, it is nevertheless an extremely tragic and sudden death and the world is deeply missing such a wonderful soul like his.

I'd be really interested in seeing you cover other K-pop channels in the future if that's something you would like to do.
i miss old kookielit, before she gave her channel away did videos that were about facts about kpop idols, idk wtf this new "team" is doing
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve always gotten very odd vibes from their channel. 😐
I knew it! I knew it was a content farm channel!
Finally someone’s talking about it!! I find the acc so weird ever since last year
Hey, just so you know, the cause of Moonbin’s death has not been revealed to the public and his family has asked people not to speculate on his manner of death, so please refrain from saying that he died by suicide because his manner of death is not known and is something his family wishes to keep private.
i commented about this too. i think most people assume it was suicide because the police speculated to reporters about that being the most likely cause, and then western outlets ran with it without fact checking. honestly, the police in that case absolutely SUCK and i hope they got reprimanded to hell for speculating and speaking on such a private manner.

This is the comment I left last year about the way they seemed to support racist comments from netizens and support idols appeasing those racist netizens:
“I have a problem with KOOKIELIT and how they phrased the entire Danielle bit.
I had gotten in to her channel because of the sasaeng vids and I really like learning about sasaengs, then when I subbed after watching a few sasaeng vids I started scrolling through he other vids and I was like wtf, I happily unsubbed after that

this might sound weird but I literally love your voice like it has an older-sister type feel
i couldn't agree more with everything you said i used to watch their videos but never again that channel is weired and is 100% a farm. Youve earned yourself a sub. please creating great vids
or when xin payed to be in a video bashing blackswan and the staff laughed on it and shared it on social media
She reuploaded footage of suju in their dorms taken by stalkers, tvxq hospital records found by stalkers and that made them resurface online when they were abt to be forgotten..
my mom watches this channel for all her kpop news and I think it's a sus content farm type of channel BUT lemme watch this video for the tea🍵
Baiii I’ve literally heard some of those voices on those berry avenue Roblox TikTok’s 💀
are you serious?? 💀💀
@@duckypato YES
They're literally the koreaboo of youtube.
oh my god, this is so right ive been thinking about this for ages im so happy about this!
OMG so I was not the only one who finds that channel unhinged!
your videos are genuinely so good and i also appreciate you for using spanenglish (i think thats what it's called) as someone who is bilingual i understand that some things are better said in another language rather than english
Yeah I don't know how no one has really noticed also I love Papa's games too! Lol
26:27 I think it's not even simpler than it being a conspiracy, she could have followed Gyubin and Singing Beetle to DM them to have a paid video on the Kookielit channel and then unfollowed when the gig is over
Duck new video let’s gooooo!
every goddamn video of theirs is just an AI-generated script at this point.
I have given up on them, they sympathize with too many disgraced predators in the industry and show no remorse about it either.
The first video I saw of yours, I was listening only in the car. Now I know you teach us Spanish! That is so cool, keep it up and keep going! ❤️
One a week uploads?? Can’t wait!! 🩷💜
hopefully 😭🤞
Hi a new subscriber I find out about kookielit that she has spreading issues with kpop idols and thank you duck!❤
i was waiting for someone to say this omg
Off topic but I love the code switching in between English and espanol 😚
Wow, i never knew she was so sus i never knew the darkside of this youtuber until now
As someone who used to watch Kookielit as a baby kpop stan in order to learn more about kpop, I've followed the channel for a while. Back around mid 2022 they would promote their website that was full of kpop quizzes and news. After about two months or so they deleted the website and stopped promoting it. Just so you know.
Can you please cover sultry film?
i had to look them up but oh my god i remember them!! they are so weird towards Blackpink, Le Sserafim, and ggsin general. it’s so shocking that they have so much support on their weird ass videos. i’ll add them to the list 🫡
Im so glad you talked abt her she's so annoying
Plss make more videos like these i love this !!💗💗
Omggg I feel like the meme of trisha paytas « i'm so happy someone made a video about this ! »
This also means that there are less people criticising these videos which means the misinformation is spread even more as people continue to watch the videos
By calling out and addressing accounts such as Kookielit I hope that people who watch these channels begin to question what and who they watch even more. Thank you once again for covering this topic and I hope that this comment made sense to those who read it
i’m not completely caught up on the Fifty Fifty stuff, but i will never trust a company over people who were in a group and actually living it. i should’ve mentioned Fifty Fifty because Kookielit has been on Attrackt’s ass for a while now, which is why some people allege that they might be getting paid, but idk how true that, but it would make sense and apparently a lot of channels can be bought out to show just one side of the story.
i’ll make sure to look more into Fifty Fifty’s story more and if i can i’ll try to cover the story because i have noticed that people side a little *too* much with the company and using Keena returning to the company as like a “gotcha” moment…
i’ve disliked them for YEARS but my last straw was how they covered lucas and defended him. she is such a weirdo glad that this video was made.
FINALLY I NEEDED SOMEONE TO DO THIS
i personally find her very creepy. she definitely kinda spreads misinformation, and also focuses on kinda creepy, sad things. it’s more so like “exposing” idols in my opinion. i don’t like how she used actual serious things, like sulii (not sure if i spelt her name right), moonbin & the whole loona thing. her thumbnails have also really creeped me out.
The papa mocharia back ground is so relaxing
YAAA DUCK UPLOADED
Let's call kookielit - it. Not she, not them😅 and i always felt that it's voice is AI generated cause sounds as uncanny valley. The same about DearPeachie, even so it useful. And they take time for creating i think it's also something ai made🤔
Kookielit has always made videos about the ''dark side of kpop'' is what i would say and it's causing my depression to get worse but i'm addicted to her videos.
I love the channel, they are one of my favourite kpop news channel and they are always consistent. ❤❤❤❤
