I got into the D&B scene in San Franciso in 1996. I started collecting vinyl and by 2007 I stopped thowing my money at D&B vinyl LOL. roughly 12 years. I agree. For me maybe because of nostalgia I think the mid to late 90s was the most passionate time for this music. Cheers!
After thinking about this, I reckon this tune is in fact Day Break. On the vinyl version of Platinum Breakz they pressed this tune by mistake and didnt change the track list. On the CD version of Platinum Breakz, Final Approach is the dark tune with the pilot samples. To confuse matters even further, the dark tune with the pilot samples (the real "Final Approach") was pressed only onto the promo vinyl version of J Majik's album "Slow Motion". Someone on Discogs then named that "Day Break". I think that is where the confusion comes from. The real dark "Final Approach" never made it to the final release copies of the full J Majik album. Day Break - Jazzy tune Final Approach - Dark tune with some kind of pilot radio samples, which matches with the name. That's my conclusion anyway.
I think this is the best summary of what happened, and by the names of the tracks also what makes sense the most. Thanks for enlightening us, i can finally grasp what the fuck happened on discogs ^^ I'm putting that detail in the description
@@thelaw1984 we can't really be sure but after doing my own research i came to a similar conclusion after i discussed this with people who have the cd.
Those track names were always confusing, right? "Day Break" also came out on the first version of the CD of J Majik's album, probably they have the name from there?
The mystery is easily solved: the radio samples in the intro of the dark brooding tune are sampled from the 1991 movie "Final Approach". Phew, so much guessing, such an easy solution. 😉 So the song playing in this video must be "Day Break".
This is marked as Final Approach on the Platinum Breaks vinyl. There is a different tune (the dark and brooding one) called Final Approach on the CDs. The tune in this video did not appear on the double CD set.
@@MemoryLaneCinema please enlighten me with any kind of reference i can look into, i definitely recall this one as being labeled Final Approach on the 12". I discovered it that way because a friend on mine wanted to sell me the vinyl.
