@gray fool are you positive on this? Because I just went off what was the set up when I got car and it ran very very good. Now I'm at stage of fine tuning and if it's not right I need to change. I have it. 1-2-4-3 right now
@@petescarport yeah, every A series I have worked on has that firing order. The distributor turns anti-clockwise. You can double check on the Internet but I'm sure that's how it works.
@@petescarport It's 1-3-4-2 and rotates counter clockwise. (You can see the counter-clockwise rotation in your video when you turn the crankshaft). It will work much better if you change plug wires to 1-3-4-2 in counter clockwise orientation.
Is that an alloy head?? Or it is painted?? The A and B series are quite old design they respond well to breathing improvements and electronic ignition!
Looks like a great vid so far, just a Quick note if ur gonna show us fluids that u use, please hold it in front of thd camera for a few secs longer so we can read what it is, tks.
Where did you buy your radiator ive seen them on ebay but dont know how bad the quality is and if its safer just to rebuild stock one you should upgrade to 68 style 6 blade fan cools better
So it's a John Delong custom cam. It may be hard to find one like this since I found on eBay as a single listing. This may work on different motors but I believe it was specifically for the 1098 and 1275
@@plumbingnoise so all I did was kept searching eBay weekly for racing cam based on my engine. When one came up I contacted the seller and I got lucky. This seller knew a lot about these cars and guided me right. He warned me it was going to be a race set up and would be very aggressive. I was sold.
I see a bunch of things that need to be done differently. First off there is no reason for removing the heater matrix since it also provides you with fresh air ventilation. Even if you only plan on driving the car in warm weather you will miss cool air in the footwell. Second I notice that you have blocked off the float bowl air intake for the Weber. That is not going to work.
Very cool I I still remember the first time I started my Austin Healey with a fresh motor.... so cool thanks for sharing
Thanks. I'm almost fully done with her. Taking a ride today hopefully. Then in a few months going to do a frame off restore

When putting your cam in you were a little rough, cam bearings are very critical for oil pressure.
It’s like the in between step from building a go cart and a full size car. That engine is so tiny. Cool build.
Lol. Yes it is. I would say whole engine weighs maybe 150lbs
@@petescarport is it a 1275?
Looks very nice. I may have heard you wrong but i think you'll find the firing order is 1-3-4-2. Might be worth checking your plug wires again.

Was expecting Bald Eagles, got Robins instead. Im surprised how much that engine is cammin' at idle though, sounds good.
That goose-neck inlet manifold doesn't look the best. Is it possible to get something straighter, that will fit under the bonnet?
Great 👍

It's a painted head off a metro mini 1275cc

This one came on the car and seems to be very high quality. I found similar ones on bugeyeguy.com. They have a lot of good parts and back them up.
What type of cam did you get and would it work for any 4 cylinder mg or Austin

How would I get a 1969 1275 cc Austin to sound that awesome do you have any suggestions on cams for a choppy idle

No as some Sprite and midget have a 1500 triumph engine. Also I think there's a difference between the 998cc and the1098cc
Does the 1275 head change the displacement of the one liter motor in your Sprite? Nice series!
How much you buy for or sellib

Explain what you mean about the float bowl air intake being blocked off. I actually haven't done anything to carbs but I did buy they used.
