I am so glad you finally listened to Forestella. They were the 2017 winners of the “Phantom singer” competition. The base singer is Ko Woorim (first is the last name, then the first name in the Korean way), the youngest of the group, trained opera singer. His range of “Basso Profundo ”, resonates within the soul. Second from left is Kang Hyungho, who has never had any vocal training, yet his range and versatility are close to Dimash’s in my opinion; he wanted to sing but his Mom wouldn’t let him, so he was working as a chemical engineer when he auditioned; this was his last attempt at his life dream before he gave up. You must listen to his audition piece, Phantom of the opera, where he sings both the male and the female part, it is mind blowing. Third from the left is Cho Mingyu, opera trained, nicknamed the “Strategist”, because, as he was winnning each section, he got to pick who he wanted on his team for the final four. Mingyu is an incredibly powerful singer, actor on scene, and he is the “boss” of the team. You also must listen to his audition piece called “Be my love”. Within 5 seconds, the judges were seriously impressed. And finally, handsome Bae Dohoon, who is a musical actor, sang in many plays, made it to the finals of the “Voice of Korea”, I absolutely love it when his voice soars above the others because he has such a way of expressing the feelings of the song. They put a lot of thought and an immense amount of practice behind each song, and only deliver a perfect product. 2 of the 4 speak very little if no English, yet they sing extensively in English with near perfect pronunciation. Same for French, Spanish, Russian, and even Zulu!! And Korean, their native language.
Among my favorites; “Shape of you”, “Hijo de la Luna”, “Bad Romance”, “Save our lives”( their own song), “Utopia”( also their own song, crazy difficult to sing), “Bohemian Rhapsody, the best cover ever. Also “je suis malade”; you may want to react to Lara Fabian’s “je suis malade” first to compare. I hope you fall in this new rabbit hole and stay for a while!

Thank you for your huge support for Forestella, I found some slight mistakes to correct.
Phantom Singer- the audition show where they were grouped - had 2 seasons' finals in the same year 2017. The 1st season's winner is Forte di Quattro, debuted 7th May in 2017.
Forestella is the 2nd season's winner. their debut date is 14th of March in 2018.
So it's hard to call them as Phantom Singer 2017 winner IMO.

It's true that Cho MinGyu is the leader who built Forestella having picked the members but he isn't being a boss (he said he was, also said now all 4 are leaders and he is just communicating role among the people they work with. )
Bae DooHoon made it up to semifinal live in the Voice Korea 2 and his last song on the show "This is the Moment. " helped him to debut as a musical actor as far I know.

This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.
You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us in King of Kings and Unwritten Legend too.
Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible.
Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. They sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their new original song Utopia is a must check.

Forestella is an incredible group, and their arrangements are really special. Bohemian Rhapsody is incredible, Pentatonix also did Bohemian Rhapsody. Je Suis Malade (I Am Sick) is just spot on, Lara Fabian (one of Dimash’s idols) covers Je Suis Malade so emotionally I was hesitant to listen to Forestella, Lara sets the bar very high, but theirs is different and very emotionally impactful. Thanks but you mistook their name again lol. Please correct it as FORESTELLA. This name is combined words forest + stella (star in Italian) and sounds like /forestela/.

Texas land size is about 7 times bigger than S Korea - as a point of reference. Saying that. The amount of talent coming out of S Korea is phenomenal. Festivals and concerts are held all over the country and are well attended. No matter the genre'. And sometimes they mix them up. In 2013 Forestella performed at the same venue as an "Idol" group (sing, dance, rap) performing Pop songs.

It's an auditory overload for me... the emotion and passion is not present in this version... lovely voices though
They sound great but the backing music is so "musak" that it kinda takes away from their performance IMO. Great voices, great singing, but the music itself has no soul to it. I know, I know...this is all about their voices and not the music, but I would have enjoyed it much more with better music...just sayin' Cheers!
