Great technique. Something else to try, if you have the Polar RE in Reason, add pitch shifting after the Neptune and before the eq. (or even do a spider and use 2 Polars for up to 5 pitches). You need to be careful to avoid the mud...but it does blend with some of the other pad-generating techniques you have described.
Hi Venus Theory, Great Video, thank you so much! Was seriously inspired- but wanted it to take one step further and have the pad as instrument.. My setting is slightly different- no Reason, but "The Mangle" for the grains part, Melodyne essential for autotuning and time shifting and then a bunch of samplers (Bitwig, Kontakt, Harmor, Iris 2). As far what you described, that works very, very well and creates a beautiful complex drone- but it's "static" and difficult to play up and down the keyboard..so I extended the process a bit: 1.Have a reduced pitch tonality- just wobble a bit around C3 (autotuner, melodyne)- for the spoken text. Avoid complex chords. 2.Then throw it into the mangle- that adds a bit of pitch drifts, but not necessarily much. 3.Possibly add Paulstretch and/or Cloud Seed (And: i added some stereo expander, that oddly gets reduced when importing into a sampler??) 4.the tricky thing is now to get that into a sampler..I wanted to be all samples of equal length- I found all my samplers somehow lost with this..can't really digest ist well- Harmor showed the biggest variations between complete mess and fantastique imports, but it was very inconsistent. So I finally used melodyne to get timeshifted samples every 3 notes of equal lenght or so and then exported them as wav file, that a sampler can import. 5. Then get them in a sampler- used for convenience Bitwig, as it has some nice slicing & importing options..And then I can loop them there easely. 6. What is yet missing is a nice legato to get from one note to the other..but other than that, it's close to a quality tonal instrument with enough variation to sound alive..it's amazing, what grains and delays can create- thanks!
Thanks for this video. And a big YES, tto, please put it into UVi's Falcon! It would be very helpful if you could do more on Falcon, please. Your expertise in sounddesign certainly helps us a lot in taming that beast. F.e. how to do a cinematic "gritty subbassy bass sound" that is also just brick-solid (I hope you know what I want to describe)... Thanks for all your very helpful tutorials & all the best to you from Vienna!
2:41 Oh, I see. I did that yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago already and found that out as well. Albeit I just took whatever the audio was and didn't have pitchcorrection.
Hello ! I want to ask for help! How can I set up the piano in REASON 11 to accompany me if I play a melody? So that if I play a tune you can take chords by yourself! Thank you for your reply !
Amazing video Cameron! Thanks for sharing. Btw, Scream was bypassed that's why you couldn't change the parameters. I was watching your Cecilia videos a couple of years ago and I was making my drones with it for a while. But the program stopped working on my PC anymore and it's so complicated to reinstall and make it work that I gave up on it. Also, I was pretty happy with the results I got from Grain so it wasn't worth the hustle. I'll definitely give this technique a go! Tnx!
Glad you enjoyed it! And sadly I had the same issue - eventually it quit working, but luckily things like Falcon and Reason Grain came to the rescue, and good ol' paulstretch haha. Have fun with it - it's really interesting and can give some super cool results!
Easy and cool , I need to try that , tomorrow I'll record myself saying dumb stuff slowly and than I'm gonna use something similar to PaulXStretch and hear the result ahahah
I might have to experiment with Grain in this process as well at some point just to see what happens haha. Or Grain the Paulstretch...and Paulstretch again...for science
Yep! Just a like super super extreme version of it. It's also open source and pretty well documented as to how it works if you're curious to see the exact ins and outs!
@@VenusTheory thank you. I thought so. I visited the page and was positively surprised the inventor gives it away for free :) Great tip, I will test it. Stay safe and sound.

If this guy isn't a professional radio host, he should be.
I was half expecting you read the Bee Movie script but this is almost as good.
I almost did haha. But then I remembered Alecia asking me to watch Bratz with her so I figured that'd be a better fit.
More Reason related videos please.
Coming soon!
Man the paul x stretch is amazing, thanks for sharing this technique !

Bratz is an under-appreciated gem.
Sometimes I sing the 'fabulous' song
@@VenusTheory could be a cool album concept 'repurposed'. A Neuro tech banger from Hannah Montana and an ambient tune from Slayer.
This is a whole tv show lol love it
It's fun. Yeah, already figured it out long before this vid, but still learn some cool things from you i didn't knew about.
Sounds great!
Cool technique 🎵🎵🎵👍
Awesome, thanks mate for the inspiration 🙂 Btw. your dog is really cute.
No problem! And thanks haha, she's a ham

Thanks haha, she's a gem.
love the captions for the cute dog :)

You just reminded me to purchase that percolator :) Thank you for your fantastic video!

I liked this before even watching it lol
When can we expect a sample pack of Cally?
I'll have to put it on my to-do list. Might turn her snoring into a wavetable or something
Grain called. Wondered why you had this shifty, ethereal, vocal party without it.
I might have to experiment with Grain in this process as well at some point just to see what happens haha. Or Grain the Paulstretch...and Paulstretch again...for science
Cool. Is Paul X stretch basically a granular synthesizer? Cheers
