Seriously, this is the best guitar channel on UA-cam. You deserve all the success you get, your hard work is not unnoticed. This is my next guitar. I love the feel of the neck and p90s just sing. Cheers Colin.
Cheers Aaron, thanks for the kind words man that's appreciated!! 🙏😊
I second that. I find myself skipping through a lot of fluff on other channels, but Colin’s gets put up on the TV.
@@corneliuscrewe677 same. It’s always fascinating. It feels like a proper show format to me.
@@aaronhiggs It’s better, he isn’t pandering to advertising.
Totally the best, no other channel comes close!
You're quickly becoming one of my favorite guitar reviewers! It's nice to get the in-depth look beyond all the promotional lingo, and you manage to get a lot of the current stuff I'm interested in. I recently scored one of these and it gets a lot of playing time.
Cheers Lito, thanks for supporting man! 😎👍
What a very interesting guitar. If you hadn't covered this one it would have continued to fly under my radar. Those P-90s sounded pretty good and that Big Muff really brought them to life with the tone rolled off. The electronics certainly responded well and the taper was nice and smooth with those CTS pots. Thank you for another fine film, mate. Your playing and reviews are always enjoyable and very informative. Cheers!
😎👍
Thank you for the terrific Wilshire review. Discovered your channel about 3 months ago and it's now my favorite channel hands down! Your warmth and genuine personality are refreshing, not to mention thorough guitar knowledge.
Thanks Jay that's appreciated!
Nice one Colin intresting review as always ,keep up the great work ,i always look forward to the next installment 👍
Under the radar to be sure! Thanks for taking the financial plunge for us to get a great review on this really cool design!
200 Quid! 🤣👍
Another brilliant review, lovely enthusiastic playing. When I bought my Coronet I was looking at this model as well. I ended up with the Coronet due to my desire for a single pick up, simple guitar. A year on am still loving playing it.
Cheers mate! 😎👍
This is probably the most "understated" sounding P90-equipped guitar I've ever heard. Quite a contrast to it's brash single pup stable-mate.
(Edit: I have the Crestwood... you REALLY need to review that too!)
It will happen! 😆👍
Another great video from you! Man that is a lot of guitar for the money. i love this line of epiphone guitars hand have had my eyes on the coronet for a while. i have played an original and these new ones are as spot on as you can possibly make them today for that price.
I'm a simple man, I see a new The Guitaristas vid, I press like. Cheers!
Same. I click like before I even watch. We know the standards we're dealing with here.
That's funny, I made mention of that in my comment this morning too!!!
I love you guys! 🙏😊
Cheers Leandro! 🙏😎
Haha exactly!
I've been attracted to this guitar for a while now..thanks for the great review my friend
Big Muff on the neck pickup sounded great. That was with the neck tone rolled back to about 3-4. When you hit the Big Muff that pickup's sound came to life.
Yes some great tones hidden in there and it's a joy when they come out! 😎👍
Absolutely...that tone immediately jumped out to the front and made a statement 😎👍
Well done Colin. I certainly would want these over the LP Jr's at these prices, a quater the price at least and very nearly the same guitar, p90, mahogany body, neck... What's not to like.
...and better neck access, light weight and a unique look
And simply feel better in the hands. More enjoyable to play to be honest.
Glad you finally picked one of these up! I got one pretty much as soon as they came out and have been really happy with it.
Took me long enough but so glad I got one!
Always excited for a new video!
Thank you. Also I love your videos. You do a really good job reviewing guitars and I love your playing. I hope your channel continues to grow.
Cheers Tom! 😁🙏
There was a used one of these in a nearby shop. I thought it was interesting, but wound up getting a 2010 Epiphone G-400 custom (basically a repro of the ‘61 SG-style Les Paul custom with the three pickups) instead. What can I say, it’s an SG and a perfect mate to my Epi 1961 Les Paul SG Standard.
I love the metal Epiphone plate on the headstock. I also had a moment where you took the pickguard off and I was like, “Wow, it looks sharp that way.”
Great work, good sir!
What a beast!!! I've never considered the Wilshire before, there was always an SG or LP special with P90's....definitely will be taking a closer look now!!!
Your channel is one of the best guitar channels on UA-cam, awesome work!
Thanks for the kind words and support it's really appreciated! 🙏😊
Wow now that’s a great guitar right there! Best channel on UA-cam for guitar reviews without a doubt. Keep up the great work! 👍
Cheers Ed!
That's a nice sounding epiphone I'm impressed and looks a comfortable guitar to play 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great review - inspirational playing!!!! Thanks Colin!
Thanks mate that's appreciated! 🙏😎
I'm not sure what I enjoy more. Your reviews or listening to you play. Great job as always.
Thanks Robert that's kind and very much appreciated... but surely it can't be my playing?? 🤣🤣👍
Of all the Epiphone's what is your top 3
@@theguitaristas Colin I can confirm it is indeed your playing. I am fender through and through and have absolutely zero interest in anything else, but watch all your videos to hear you play. I would love to have your ability and playing style, and that’s about as high a compliment you can receive from another guitar player. Rock on mate!! 👍🇦🇺

you flippin nailed it with that playing at the end. what a breath of fresh air.
Thanks man that’s appreciated! 🙏😊
Well done, sir. This upload was just the thing. Placed an order and it arrives next week.
Nice one Bryan! 😎👍
I really like these guitars, and didn't Stevie Marriott play one in Humble Pie? I love the fact that Epiphone are dipping into their history and their own brand guitars are great. These have been on my radar for a number of months now but I've been undecided on the Willshire or the Coronet but will probably have the Willshire for additional flexibility. I really like the look of the Crestwood too. They have mini hums rather than P90s which is a shame as I would like one of them for sure but my mini hum needs are covered by my Riviera. I think the geezer in Reef plays a Crestwood( an original I think). Great video again Colin and some really nice playing. 👍
Cheers Mark! Yes Steve Marriott played a Dwight branded Coronet I believe. 😎👍
I believe Marriott played a Dwight.

Very Cool Demo/Review. Thankyou. Very Interested in these guitars and The Coronet. Cheers
Another great vid and guitar Colin cheers 👍🎸
Thanks Malcolm!
I have the Coronet and am picking up a Crestwood tomorrow, I look forward to your review of it. Really dig your videos. Cheers!
Nice one! 😎👍
Nice video Col. Had my eye of these for a while. I really like P90s
Great review. If I decide to take the plunge on a P90 guitar, this one has shot to the top of the candidate list. Thanks.
Yeah I have never went to a time stamp with your vids.Great stuff from beginning to end.
Cheers Jordan! 🙏😎
Theres a P90 Wilshire and a Red Crestwood hanging at one of my local guitar shops. Both play beautifully and are really well finished. It's interesting to play them and the come home to my father's 1964 Olympic he bought new. Same body, just with melody makers and the old "Batwing" headstock. They're all such cool looking guitars that seem to fly under the radar most of the time.
Thanks for doing this one, Colin! I actually seem to like it from the first glance, contrary to the Coronet, which somehow seems odd, unbalanced looking to me with the gigantic white pickguard. Also I prefer the Wilshire sonically, but that's probably up to the HB tube 15, since I doubt the guitars differ too much soundwise... All in all a great show, nice tunes, rock on! 🎸
First of all, I love your videos! Your commentary makes me laugh, and I like your playing. 👍
I really enjoy the fact that you are not pretentious and lusting after Gibson, Fender, PRS, etc. It was great to see you rocking another Epiphone (second hand even) and your cheap amp. Love it!!! Keep up the good work!
Cheers Matt, thanks for supporting it's appreciated! 😎👍
Great review Colin!!! Bravo for Your purchase price!!! My first Bass Guitar was from Epiphone, likeness to body shape to this or the later version of this. Have a Great weekend!! Thanks for this in depth look at this guitar!!! Cheers!!!
Cheers Blake!
Great vid as always Colin mate, fancy one of these maybe in the future! :) have a great weekend mate, all the best.
Cheers Jeff and you! 😎👍
I love the old Epi's. Original, lovely guitars.👍
Sweet guitar for sure with and with a SG vibe … the way p90s are mounted in most guitars are a nightmare … so thanks for the tire down, springs sure give more accurate and stable setup ..that HB amp sure sings… looks better without the pick guard !… great choice cool tones
Glorious. In my day any guitar at that price point was crap. Now, you needn't change or upgrade anything. Glorious.
Satanic !
You really dialled it in at the end 👍 - sounded special 🎸
Cheers Simon 😎👍
Awesome playing again mate. Definitely my favourite guitar channel too. Cheers
Cheers Wes that's appreciated! 🙏😎
Another great video Colin. I picked up a Wilshire few weeks back in immaculate condition for $450 CDN & absolutely love it. It’s great as is but the P90’s were woolly , found a pair of staple P90’s from Mojo pickups & swapped the switch & output jack for switchcraft. Now she’s a real rocker!
Really enjoy your videos & the time you take, quality over quantity! Continued success!
Cheers man, I might join you and try some different pups i this one... they aren't bad but just think it could be made that bit extra special... I bet those staple ones look cool too! 😎👍
@@theguitaristas Look forward to it being a future mini series. 😉
Loving those tones!
Your channel is my weekly Sat or Sun chill. I wait all week to see what you' ve got for us. Enjoyed this one, I did wonder if the Wilshire had a long neck tenon. Like an SG the neck joint to the body seems really small. Harley benton amp did the job wel I thought. Cheers till next week.
Cheers man, stupid of me not to look under the foam really while I had chance! 🤷♂️
brother this guitar is saweeet!
mate i stay for the long haul because you cover everything about the item your reviewing weather it be guitars or amps...possibly pedals haha!!
i paused the vid for a bit and got my monoprice os30 p90 sweetheart out and played a lil bit thru my crate gx15r with a jensen greenback vintage model 8in speaker in it...
then i finished watching....man your channel is the stuff!
hey brother i watched again.....im thinking the "C" near the end of the letters/numbers on the pup tags possibly means ceramic magnet?
ill do research on my end on it as well....man im really diggin this one!
Wow. Sounds great. Epiphone seems to be doing a fine job. 🙂 Very nice playing Colin. Thx friend. Cheers.

Very nice review, Enjoyed your informative video, Thanks.
Your in depth reviews are the best, “ What’s not to love?”
Thanks for supporting! 😎👍
You won’t be disappointed with one of these, I had one until it was broken when moving :( but I will defiantly be getting another when money allows it’s a great guitar and the P90s are a beaut I couldn’t fault it . Another cracking review love this channel keep up the good work
Cheers Joe!
Great watch as always🎸🤘🎸
Great review and guitar.
I stopped by my local shop earlier today (meaning Friday afternoon here in the US) to pick up some EB Slinky strings. Little did I know that I would run across this guitar in cherry red, Brand new with a 2022 serial number. Well, I just had to give it a play. I ran it thru a Blues Junior like the one I have at home and WoW!! what a great little guitar!! Epiphone Pro soapbar P-90's with CTS pots. It played and sounded great!!! So for $499.00 USD it followed me home. NGD!!! I'm a happy old man!!! You did a great review as always Colin!! I appreciate your insight!! Keep up the great work....Cheers!! Bryan
PS. After careful scrutiny, I do believe that this guitar is NOT veneered!!! It might be much tougher to tell on your ebony model, but with the translucent finish on my cherry red version it appears to be a two or maybe a three piece body!! How Gibson like 🙂!! What do you think of that?? I'm really surprised!! Have a great day!!
Im from Brazil!! And nobody does nothing like you!! Congrats!!! Tksss
Cheers! 😁👍
Nice playing! Great tone, and very expressive
Cheers Matthew that's appreciated! 🙏😊
that is 1 sick guitar....wonder if i can find one here in singapore...nice on again with the review!

Thanks to your influence , I own a cherry coronet & a ebony epi flying v - incredible fun !! Cheers Colin.
😆👍
Brilliant guitar. Now i want one.
I got a new Red Wilshire in 2020, it has taken over a s my favorite guitar.seconded by my 2020 Epiphone SG Classic Worn P90. These 2 guitars are setup very similar with P90s, TOM bridges and all mahogany construction. The Classic has a D profile SlimTaper neck while the Wilshire's Medium C profile is actually smaller. I have several Epiphones, the Wilshire has earned its place as my favorite but the SG Classic is right behind.
Great alternative to an SG.Great review mate.🤘👌
Cheers Trevor!
Very interesting guitar - Epiphone´s try to build an SG. And the P90´s are a good reason for this one!
Great video as always!
Greetings from Germany - nearly 23.000 subscribers👍
Think this is pre SG
Cheers Chris! 😎👍
The SG body style didn't come out until '61, this has been around since the late 50s.
Gibson was putting out double cut Les Pauls with slab bodies in the late 50s if I'm not mistaken, which was the same time these Wilshires and Coronets were first being made.
That outro was awesome 👍🏼
🙏😊
Love this channel. Really.
Thank you, and I really love and appreciate you support! 🙏😊
Got the drink and came back for the ride ;). Best Regards/Wishes!
Magnificent. Anyone who doesn’t think that instrument sounds awesome is looking for something other then what I appreciate most in an electric 6 string solid body guitar. ❤❤❤
Just found your channel and I like your approach and thoroughness. I have now decided to trade my recently-purchased Squier Paranormal Strat-O-Sonic up towards this. Seems more true to the P90 tone and I like the design.
Cheers... funny I am reviewing Stratosonic this week!
@@theguitaristas Ha! Sweet! I will watch for the video! Let's see if we have the same opinions on it.
Cool video as always.
😎👍
The original had only one P-90 . Steve Marriot used one. He slung it around and it sounded great. Epiphone made REALLY good pickups in the late 50s and early 60s.
Hello Colin, really enjoyed this one, thank you.
I had been meaning to drop a line to you to say I bought a Crestwood Custom in a white a few months back, and thought, ‘This is just the sort of guitar I can see Colin playing and really liking’. Given your preference for SGs, these are kind of the Daddy of the SGs.
The Crestwood Custom is really interesting with the two Mini Humbuckers and the very stable Trematone.
Looking likely that there will be a Crestwood Custom on the channel soon then 👹
😆👍... yes that has caught my eye now so probably sooner than you may think!
Ive often found myself drawn towards a Willshire but I did a double take at 17:48 as for a second or two I though you were sitting on a toilet, taking convenience to a whole new level ;)
ps love the channel, keep up the great work.
The white seat? 🤣👍 maybe I should do that probably get millions of view for something like that! Cheers man
I’ve had a bunch of recent Epis that’s I bought new…QC is all over the place unfortunately, all of them have needed varying degrees of work out of the box. A few that had to go back. When you get a good one, they can be a nice bang for the buck, but I’d advise anyone to try them out in person first if they’re able before purchasing. This one sounds nice, it looks and sounds the part.
Love it, just $500 here in the states. I got to pick one up. Thanks for showing it.
Cheers Lin! 😎👍
Man! It seems as if you are more comfortable in front of the camera and that your playing improves from week to week.
Long live The King! How does it feel to be The King?
Cheers David! I don't know about that but sometime's when filming it feels like I've completely forgotten how to play, so often its more that I'm the 'King of Pain' 🤣 🤣 but somehow or other it always seems to come together and I really appreciate the kind words an support 🙏 😊 Thanks mate have a great weekend! 😎👍

Good morning Colin and all. Oh man this is great. Love watchin' you review Epiphones. Just got a new used Epi LP Special P90 myself, another GC 'steal.' The middle switch position is both P90s combined as humbucking- did not expect that but love it. Wonder if same on Wilshire? Cheers everyone from Dallas!
Cheers Mark, that's a good question I shall have to investigate that... I did wonder why they are so evenly matched in readings maybe thats something to do with it? 🤔
Yeah all modern guitars have neck and bridge p90s set up in such a way that there's no hum in the middle position (as long as both volumes are at the exact same level, that is).
It's called RWRP "reverse wound reverse polarity"
@@bee.normal Cheers Jay!
It was a nice surprise. I wondered if Teles work that way too. Thanks all for the replies.
Great review. A well made set neck lightweight guitar with two P90 pickups, what’s not to like! Whenever I see an old Epiphone solid I think of the late Steve Marriott who seemed to like them. If I didn’t have far too many nice guitars with P90s I’d definitely buy one of these Wilshires they look and sound amazing at a stupidly low price.
Can hardly believe I've found another guitar you don't already own Henry! 😆👍
Yup
Whatever Steve played is way good enough for me
I picked up a vintage crestwood around my birthday and it needed a few things, nut, strings, etc but the price was right and I love it... although I'd rather p90s to these humbuckers any day. Awesome video as always 👌
Cheers man, I have a 63 Olympic and am seriously tempted to look out for out more of this era / range 👍
If it is the same thing as the Crestwood Custom it has the widest neck of any guitar I own and I love it. It took a bit of getting used to, It felt short to me than all of a sudden it felt good and I love it. And they look so cool and retro.
Just picked one up today from Sweetwater love it so far . I wanted the P90s for a change. 6 lbs. even
Light as a feather.
A Willshire and that H/B 15 maid in heaven for 400 quid a steal Great Content as ever Colin
Cheers Linda, I know it's amazing eh? what a rig for 400 quid!! 🎸🔥🙌 Have a great weekend! 😎👍
I think Epiphone has really stepped up it's game. Using CTS pots, a Nubone nut, decent pickups, and good hardware leaves little to upgrade. I remember not that long ago, when you bought an Epi you just figured on replacing nut, pots, and pickups as standard procedure. Now they've taken all the fun out (NOT)!! Great video Collin!
Epiphone pro buckers & Alnico classic vintage pickups are highly acclaimed pickups..
Cheers Wayne, yes definitely... and the pots on this were really good! 😎👍
I've always thought those were cool guitars. I'm surprised they're not very popular. It looked pretty killer without the pickguard. Epiphone should consider doing a modern version. Thanks for another excellent review Colin!
Cheers Bradley! 😎👍
Great review of a cool guitar! I almost bought one of these a while back but didn’t go through with it. P90’s just don’t do it for me, unfortunately. I guess I could drop in some mini humbuckers, though. You mentioned it’s very SG like, and that’s another thing I turned away from-SGs just feel off to me. It’s a bummer, too, because I love the look of this guitar and I love the fact it’s an original Epiphone design.
Regardless, the video was great, as always, Colin! Still waiting on you to review the Epiphone ES339! LOL Have a great day, CHEERS!
I have the 60's reissue Wilshire, batwing head-stock, in Arctic White. These came with humbuckers, and, the Wilshire does not feel like an SG. I know what you mean about the SG, they don't feel right to me either, like the neck is 10 ft. long or something....my Wilshire does not feel this way at all. Look for used ones, they've went up in price the last couple of years, but they are out there. I upgraded to Grover tuners, and I do like P90's, so, changed the humbuckers out for Phat Cat P90's, they sound great. Very light guitar to gig with.
these videos are fantastic! would really love if you did a video on the episode on the epiphone limited edition 150th anniversary Wilshire!
wonder how they all differ?
Another great show. Another affordable guitar to look for and mod. I wonder if there would be a market if epiphone would do a higher grade version of their original models?
Well they did it for the made in USA Casino... but I'm not sure I'd pay $4000 for a USA made version of this when you could probably get an original for that? 🤔
Bought one today on Ebay 😬 i said earlier i was going to get a Coronet but this popped up so i snapped it up.
Collecting tomorrow en-route to my Holiday 😁😆😆 my missus is the best , never complains about my guitar addiction bless her.

Colin, now you're tempting me to trade in my SG for this beauty! What I find interesting is despite sharing the very same p'ups (P90-Pro's) as the new new SG, and same woods it sound wholly different. My theory has always been that the guitar shape and neck density affect the tone. BTW, you're on fire in your outro!
