There are names given to each of the Nine Titans, that includes the Titan you will inherit. In every era, this Titan had pushed forward, fighting to save Reiner’s ass. For the sake of prolonging Reiner’s suffering, it fights. Its name - the Jaw Titan.

@@kingcrimson2615 No, Ymir MAY have been pretty nimble because of a smaller size, but Porco's titan is very much faster than Ymir... really he was better in every way, only way Ymir beats him in any aspect might be regeneration, cause she doesn't have to regenerate as much as he does, and even then, he has remarkable stamina, likely better than hers.

I'd argue that there's no reason to assume the "Crocodile Titan" wasn't the Beast, Cart and Jaw all at once - Eren surely isn't the only person in history to hold more than one Titan form
True but how does it split again? As beast, cart and jaw is split in current times as three shifters. If someone in the past ate more than 1 shifter in the past how do you think it splits back again for Marcel, Zeke (we see who he inherits it from) and Pieke to recieve before the show begins. Since everyone’s confused of why Ymir’s Jaw titan is so damn ugly: Ymir’s jaw titan looks remarkably similar to the illustration of the devil of all earth Historia looked at when she was young (you can find this in the same chapter historia had a breakdown in after Ymir left). Ymir fritz probably designed her titan like this on purpose for irony’s sake as they both share the same name and it would be funny if a girl named Ymir had a titan that looked like the devil. (This would also explain why Ymir’s pure titan form remained close to the same as her jaw titan form after she ate Marcel).

I think Ymir is not the only woman who inherits the jaw titan. like there are others, even many women who inherited Jaw titan. we just don't know because of their weird shape. like Pieck, when she first appeared, no one thought that Cart titan was a woman because of her strange shape.
I always thought Ymir's jaw titan was really interesting because even though she could speak, she spoke in a very simplistic way, almost as if the words she spoke were being lost in translation between her brain and the titan's mouth. She's also the only shifter in the series that seemed to feel pain through her titan, screaming when one of the survey corps members cut her eye, that would really have to suck considering how badly shifters tend to get maimed in titan fights
She talked that way because through the way she talks, it would take forever to get out a full sentence so she uses small words. Also, Porco feels pain too. When Eren ripped off both his arms, he screamed and later on when he got backhanded, he almost recieved a concussion. I think all the Jaw titans feel their titan's pain because it helps them avoid it, since the Jaw is a glass canon and can't take too many hits.
All shifters feel pain within their titans. It's not permanent damage but because their titan bodies have thousands of nerve endings it's safe to assume the shifter does feel pain. But after they leave their titan form that pain would vanish most likely.
I think Falco getting wings from Zeke's spinal fluid would explain why some Jaw Titans have armor on their faces. They probably were given some spinal fluid of the Armor Titan to make them better for battle, like how Eren ate that bottle (not drank, he took a big ol bite out of the thing, more glass than liquid got in his mouth ...but I digress) he gained the ability to harden, although it didn't effect his Titan's overall appearance. Maybe it could if he wanted it too, because the Warhammer didn't change his appearance either. For all we know, many of the titans we see are hybrids in the same way.

@@Quthology Yeah the design is pretty clean but I wouldn't say the armored Titan is useless it's just down very bad since anti-titan shells exist now. And so far it appears to be the only Titan that can handle the Colossal Titans nuclear explosion.

Crazy that if the people in charge of the warrior programme had actually seen through Marcel’s plan to stop Porco from getting the armoured Titan, everything probably would’ve gone according to plan and the founding Titan would’ve been recovered, leading to Paradis probably being destroyed and then all Eldians being euthanised...wow. Marcel was GOATed
yknow idk. - Marcel would have jumped in to save the armour titans anyway, wether it be Reiner or Porco, and would still get eaten. - Reiner was the one who incited the others to keep on with the mission, I am not sure if Porco would havedone the same. - Porco wwould still have had a hard time fighting Eren as he was trained by Annie - Reiner is not the reason why the mission failed, Eren is. They were meant to go in and steal a Founding Titan from a passive king but as met with one very angry Attack Titan instead.
The reason Ymir's titan doesn't look as strong as Marcel and Porco's jaw titans is probably because she had no military training before she got the power to shift. The Marleyan warriors are chosen to be shifters because of their success in training, thus the titans from Marley are more muscular/have more prominent features. Ymir on the other hand was a completely random bystander who just happened to get lucky enough to eat a titan shifter, and thus her titan form more resembles that of someone without training.
Well, although I believe that’s an interesting theory I also think that a much more probable outcome was just that Ymir had spent 80 years as a mindless titan, and notice how here mindless titan and jaw titan look almost identical, minus a few features such as sharper teeth and sharper claws as the jaw titan. Another probability that I believe is less likely but still probable is that Marley experimented on porco and Marcel, as Annie states that they fed her many things as her female titan can easily absorb other titans powers. Now while porco and Marcel may not have that ability, it is a likely scenario considering that Eren was able to consume the warhammer fluid in the crystal cave. Another scenario which is pretty much cannon is that hardened faces are a galliard genetic trait.

While Marcel was being grabbed, he could’ve bit his tongue/ hand to transform into the jaw and the transformation thunder would’ve injured and stunned Ymir for enough time to easily kill her. Either that or Annie transforms (Bertolt would’ve obliterated everyone and Reiner was still in shock) and their mission to invade paradis Island would’ve been much smoother and easier due to Marcel’s wits.

Okay I have a little AOT theory here. So we know that Zeke's spinal fluid gave Falco's titan a beaked face. He then ate Porco and became the *very* birdlike Jaw Titan. Annie also mentioned something about eating parts from other shifters to enhance her female titan (ie the enhanced hardening, extreme endurance, extended jaw with added bite force, explosive transformation, etc - which are all abilities of the other 8 titans) We also know that the pure titan influences the design of the shifter; Eren's pure titan had no lips and the weird jaw, which is also present in his Attack Titan form. So then I must ask: Does the spinal fluid affect the traits of the shifter? Zeke has beast titan spinal fluid, so it turned Falco into an animalistic titan - including his resultant Jaw Titan shifter form as well. When they became pure titans to inherit the Jaw, were Marcel & Porco injected with Reiner's spinal fluid (or the previous Armored Titan's fluid)? Ymir's Jaw was fleshy and human-like, while Porco's Jaw had a thick armored face plate made of titan-hardening. Being injected with Armored Titan spinal fluid when he became a pure titan could be the reason Porco's Jaw has armor; Ymir could've just been injected with regular pure titan fluid. This could also explain certain things, like some of the "abnormal" titans being injected with shifter fluid instead of pure fluid. To go off of this with the abnormals; perhaps some of the quadrupedal abnormals were injected with Cart Titan or Jaw Titan spinal fluid when they were turned, causing them to walk on all fours & be very fast. Hell, Eren might's even had Jaw Titan fluid injected into him as a kid, which could be why his Attack Titan has such a brutal and distinct mouth. This is just food for thought, but I would love it if Isayama answered this. Along with another question: what happens if two titans drink the same fluid? If Eren only drank half of Lara Tybur's spinal fluid, and Porco somehow got the rest (maybe by tilting his head back or something idk), would they *both* inherit the Warhammer Titan? Is it on a first-come first-serve type basis, where the first person to drink the fluid gains the power - then it becomes inert to the other shifters, being no better than regular titan spinal fluid?
I have a strong feeling Mappa isnt gonna animate all of the titans they are probably gonna animate a few and add like a dark shade to Erens titan so it looks like "the dark shade is hiding the other titans"
The true reason as to why marcel ruined porcos chances to get the armoured titan is because he didn’t want to look like a dwarf compared to him in titan form
The way your titan in shifted form looks is dictated by how you are turned into a titan, not by the dna of the titan itself. Since falco was turned into a titan by the beast titan, his shifted form resembles a beast and jaw titan mixture, but if the person who next inherits the jaw titan is not turned by zeke’s spinal fluid, he will not have a mix of beasts and jaw, only jaw. 11 months late but is this confirmed or referenced by the anime or manga? I'm not counting outside interviews cause those are mostly improvised answers. I ask cause under that logic, everyone to ever get made into a Titan by Zeke should have unnatural and/or animalistic features. But none do. So that can't be right.
Imagine if Ymir stayed on Paradis, I would have loved seeing her in Titan form and Mikasa working together when Historia and Eren got kidnapped, and also got one of the hardening bottles which would be a total upgrade on her Titan powers.
9:52 it’s definitely a jaw because an alligator has one of the strongest bites on the planet. And falcos ability to fly and why its an avian like creature is probable because of when we were introduced to him, he saw a bird flying across the battlefield, and he was saying that the bird has wings and it can fly anywhere and telling the bird to fly away from the battlefield because it can go anywhere, and this was falcos desire, to be like a bird and be free and able to fly anywhere he wants to go
I think the reason Ymir’s jaw titan didn’t look that different from her pure titan form was because she had been a pure titan for so long compared to all the other shifters who got there titans in just a few minutes after being transformed.
For those saying why Ymir's jaw titan look different from the other jaws is because it hasn't been altered, and is in its natural form. Galliard's titan in the other hand has gone through alterations so that it can be battle suited this is cause by the experimentations of Marleyans with different titan shifters an example is Annie's titan
This is just my speculation since it can also be that the jaws has a hardening trait but Ymir's jaw is in default mode which just few enhanced features

I think what makes the Galliard brothers' jaw titans almost the same is the simple fact that they are brothers, which means that they nearly have the same blood stuff

I always felt like the jaw was a less cool version of the beast, they all had some animalistic traits, Ymir: a chimp, the galliard brothers: lions, falco: a bird, and that one ancient titan looks like if you kept a crocodile on a diet of plutonium rods, crystal meth, and unvaccinated babies for 6 years
I believe the Falcon titan is a Falco exclusive only because of the mixture of Zeke’s beast titan spinal fluid. Which I think is amazing because it just further makes him a more special and awesome character
MANGA SPOILERS Like Falco’s titan, some of the ancient Jaw Titans could be hybrids. For example, the crocodile one could be a Jaw, Cart, and Beast Titan. The one you mentioned was ugly could be a Cart and Jaw. Marley had a majority of the powers for a long time, there could have been a lot of Beast, Cart, Jaw, Armor, Female hybrids.

The last one is obviously a cart titan it walks, crawls, and even has the jaw. And as we the first cart titan had a horse as its head so it's possible that this one could be a crocodile or a dinasaur.

To be honest, the last titan really is in no way a Jaw Titan imo. Jaw titans are distinct because of their round humanoid heads with occasional armor covering it and their humanoid bodies with long arms and short legs. The way this titan walks on all 4s and that it's arms are similar in length to it's hind legs makes me more think that it's a Cart Titan. If the Jaw had to be the most prominent in a Jaw Titan than Pieck's Cart Titan would be more of a Jaw Than Ymir's. Cart Titans all have elongated heads unlike other shifter, which would make this one a better candidate for Cart Titan. I also think it's too small to be a beast Titan. It could very well be a hybrid or mutated Titan like Falco, but I'd say it's a Cart Titan.
FINALLY!! this is what ive been saying for the longest time. By definition there is also one cuadrupedal titan out of the 9, and that is the cart. They are also known to have animal features (look at the first cart titan having a horse head). So yeah this is defo a cart
My theory: Titans look or build is built on subconscious. That's why Titans have different looks. But the people who have seen previous Titans build is always similar but the ones who haven't have a different look altogether.

I always thought Ymir's jaw titan was really interesting because even though she could speak, she spoke in a very simplistic way, almost as if the words she spoke were being lost in translation between her brain and the titan's mouth. She's also the only shifter in the series that seemed to feel pain through her titan, screaming when one of the survey corps members cut her eye, that would really have to suck considering how badly shifters tend to get maimed in titan fights
She talked that way because through the way she talks, it would take forever to get out a full sentence so she uses small words. Also, Porco feels pain too. When Eren ripped off both his arms, he screamed and later on when he got backhanded, he almost recieved a concussion. I think all the Jaw titans feel their titan's pain because it helps them avoid it, since the Jaw is a glass canon and can't take too many hits.
All shifters feel pain within their titans. It's not permanent damage but because their titan bodies have thousands of nerve endings it's safe to assume the shifter does feel pain. But after they leave their titan form that pain would vanish most likely.

I think Falco getting wings from Zeke's spinal fluid would explain why some Jaw Titans have armor on their faces. They probably were given some spinal fluid of the Armor Titan to make them better for battle, like how Eren ate that bottle (not drank, he took a big ol bite out of the thing, more glass than liquid got in his mouth ...but I digress) he gained the ability to harden, although it didn't effect his Titan's overall appearance.
Maybe it could if he wanted it too, because the Warhammer didn't change his appearance either.
For all we know, many of the titans we see are hybrids in the same way.

Crazy that if the people in charge of the warrior programme had actually seen through Marcel’s plan to stop Porco from getting the armoured Titan, everything probably would’ve gone according to plan and the founding Titan would’ve been recovered, leading to Paradis probably being destroyed and then all Eldians being euthanised...wow. - Marcel would have jumped in to save the armour titans anyway, wether it be Reiner or Porco, and would still get eaten.
- Reiner was the one who incited the others to keep on with the mission, I am not sure if Porco would havedone the same.
- Porco wwould still have had a hard time fighting Eren as he was trained by Annie
- Reiner is not the reason why the mission failed, Eren is. They were meant to go in and steal a Founding Titan from a passive king but as met with one very angry Attack Titan instead.
The reason Ymir's titan doesn't look as strong as Marcel and Porco's jaw titans is probably because she had no military training before she got the power to shift. The Marleyan warriors are chosen to be shifters because of their success in training, thus the titans from Marley are more muscular/have more prominent features. Ymir on the other hand was a completely random bystander who just happened to get lucky enough to eat a titan shifter, and thus her titan form more resembles that of someone without training.

Well, although I believe that’s an interesting theory I also think that a much more probable outcome was just that Ymir had spent 80 years as a mindless titan, and notice how here mindless titan and jaw titan look almost identical, minus a few features such as sharper teeth and sharper claws as the jaw titan. Another probability that I believe is less likely but still probable is that Marley experimented on porco and Marcel, as Annie states that they fed her many things as her female titan can easily absorb other titans powers. Now while porco and Marcel may not have that ability, it is a likely scenario considering that Eren was able to consume the warhammer fluid in the crystal cave. Another scenario which is pretty much cannon is that hardened faces are a galliard genetic trait.

Ymir's stance is the same as Porco or Marcel...literally.
While Marcel was being grabbed, he could’ve bit his tongue/ hand to transform into the jaw and the transformation thunder would’ve injured and stunned Ymir for enough time to easily kill her. Either that or Annie transforms (Bertolt would’ve obliterated everyone and Reiner was still in shock) and their mission to invade paradis Island would’ve been much smoother and easier due to Marcel’s wits.

remember that Marley sometimes enhances their titan shifters to be more powerful. maybe the skull-like features on the other Jaws are from this experimenting, but Ymir did not have this and thus looks different

Okay I have a little AOT theory here.
So we know that Zeke's spinal fluid gave Falco's titan a beaked face. He then ate Porco and became the *very* birdlike Jaw Titan.
Annie also mentioned something about eating parts from other shifters to enhance her female titan (ie the enhanced hardening, extreme endurance, extended jaw with added bite force, explosive transformation, etc - which are all abilities of the other 8 titans)
We also know that the pure titan influences the design of the shifter; Eren's pure titan had no lips and the weird jaw, which is also present in his Attack Titan form.
So then I must ask: Does the spinal fluid affect the traits of the shifter?
Zeke has beast titan spinal fluid, so it turned Falco into an animalistic titan - including his resultant Jaw Titan shifter form as well. When they became pure titans to inherit the Jaw, were Marcel & Porco injected with Reiner's spinal fluid (or the previous Armored Titan's fluid)? Ymir's Jaw was fleshy and human-like, while Porco's Jaw had a thick armored face plate made of titan-hardening. Being injected with Armored Titan spinal fluid when he became a pure titan could be the reason Porco's Jaw has armor; Ymir could've just been injected with regular pure titan fluid. This could also explain certain things, like some of the "abnormal" titans being injected with shifter fluid instead of pure fluid.
To go off of this with the abnormals; perhaps some of the quadrupedal abnormals were injected with Cart Titan or Jaw Titan spinal fluid when they were turned, causing them to walk on all fours & be very fast. Hell, Eren might's even had Jaw Titan fluid injected into him as a kid, which could be why his Attack Titan has such a brutal and distinct mouth.
This is just food for thought, but I would love it if Isayama answered this.
Along with another question: what happens if two titans drink the same fluid? If Eren only drank half of Lara Tybur's spinal fluid, and Porco somehow got the rest (maybe by tilting his head back or something idk), would they *both* inherit the Warhammer Titan? Is it on a first-come first-serve type basis, where the first person to drink the fluid gains the power - then it becomes inert to the other shifters, being no better than regular titan spinal fluid?

I think the Jaw's varying designs are my favorite, each one looks so unique (well, most of them).
The way your titan in shifted form looks is dictated by how you are turned into a titan, not by the dna of the titan itself. Since falco was turned into a titan by the beast titan, his shifted form resembles a beast and jaw titan mixture, but if the person who next inherits the jaw titan is not turned by zeke’s spinal fluid, he will not have a mix of beasts and jaw, only jaw. Hope this helps!
11 months late but is this confirmed or referenced by the anime or manga? I'm not counting outside interviews cause those are mostly improvised answers.
I ask cause under that logic, everyone to ever get made into a Titan by Zeke should have unnatural and/or animalistic features. But none do. So that can't be right.

I think the reason Ymir’s jaw titan didn’t look that different from her pure titan form was because she had been a pure titan for so long compared to all the other shifters who got there titans in just a few minutes after being transformed.

For those saying why Ymir's jaw titan look different from the other jaws is because it hasn't been altered, and is in its natural form. Galliard's titan in the other hand has gone through alterations so that it can be battle suited this is cause by the experimentations of Marleyans with different titan shifters an example is Annie's titan

Like Falco’s titan, some of the ancient Jaw Titans could be hybrids. For example, the crocodile one could be a Jaw, Cart, and Beast Titan. The one you mentioned was ugly could be a Cart and Jaw.
Marley had a majority of the powers for a long time, there could have been a lot of Beast, Cart, Jaw, Armor, Female hybrids.

The last one is obviously a cart titan it walks, crawls, and even has the jaw. And as we the first cart titan had a horse as its head so it's possible that this one could be a crocodile or a dinasaur.

To be honest, the last titan really is in no way a Jaw Titan imo. Jaw titans are distinct because of their round humanoid heads with occasional armor covering it and their humanoid bodies with long arms and short legs. The way this titan walks on all 4s and that it's arms are similar in length to it's hind legs makes me more think that it's a Cart Titan. If the Jaw had to be the most prominent in a Jaw Titan than Pieck's Cart Titan would be more of a Jaw Than Ymir's. Cart Titans all have elongated heads unlike other shifter, which would make this one a better candidate for Cart Titan. I also think it's too small to be a beast Titan. It could very well be a hybrid or mutated Titan like Falco, but I'd say it's a Cart Titan.
FINALLY!! this is what ive been saying for the longest time. By definition there is also one cuadrupedal titan out of the 9, and that is the cart. They are also known to have animal features (look at the first cart titan having a horse head). So yeah this is defo a cart
