Oh absolutely it packed the dance floors! It was one of the first dance songs specifically designed as a dance song. It was HUGE in the gay culture. All we had at that time was "dance mixes" of popular songs on the radio which were just extended versions and most of them pretty sorry. Techno really hadn't grabbed hold yet and this was a fun song that the whole crowd in the club would just SQUEEEEEEEEEL when the DJ played it. Fantastic memories.
So it's 4:50am and I'm sat in the car waiting for my wife to finish work and the Odyssey version of this comes on the radio. Straight away I have Pat Sharp in my head, a quick UA-cam search later, it's now 4:54am I'm still sat in the car waiting for my wife to finish work and listening to this 👍😊
I remember hearing this song on “Open House Party with John Garabedian” radio show in the early 90s. I think I might have even recorded it on a mixtape. 😆 ❤️
Wow, I forgot this song existed until looking up songs that charted low in the late '80s/early '90s. I hadn't heard this probably since 1990. It was always on the radio.
This is one of those songs that makes me smile every time I hear it, even in 2024! This version is way better than the original Odyssey release and didn't have that annoying shrill whistle in it!
I remember this back in the day when freedom to drink and no problems going home. Glad my younger days had some freedom with em as today it sucks everywhere with this damn police state.
And OMG the clothes and that long blonde hair! Dear God we really did dress like that. LOL! The blue jeans with the holes cut in them. We would take razor blades and cut patterns into them and then wash them 50 times so it would fray really good and be stringy in those patterns. They were also "easy access" panels if you catch my drift. LOL! And the lycra shorts underneath because so much was exposed.
I love this song and the purpose behind the cover but god damn, it looks like they pulled two random pedestrians off the sidewalk in London and were like "Ok here's 50 quid, you're going to perform this hot dance track for us now get on with it!" and they were like "Aw royt...." and the rest is what you see here.
@gailmckennag I thought that all their songs were for charity. And they we're all covers. On their album there are also original songs, but on most of them are no vocals. Just instrumental songs with lots of samples vocals.
Of course, it is trying (and succeeding) in replicating the sound of Technotronic, but I kinda like that fact! I still love this song, and cheesy as the video is, it is actually a great version. I'm not embarrassed to like it.
Did you know that the twins auditioned for roles as presenters on The Word? They sent in an audition tape and it was shown on the show along a few others that didn't get picked.
......huge, huge, HUGE Gay Club hit, Summer of 1990!!! ....places went NUTS, during peak Hour! ...Oh, I'll CHERISH those memories!! ...WORK that cape, Pat! (2:42)...OR, is it Mick!? ..ha-HAA!!
Hands up who's still listening in 2023!
Me!! Australia here. I would like to slide into a parallel universe, where every day is Stock, Aitken & Waterman Day. Don't judge me!! LOL
Listening in 2024
Me and I'll still be listening to it in 2025, 6, 7, 8, 9 etc.....
I always had so much fun when this song was playing.
I can't believe I spent 36 years of my life not knowing this existed.
Well yes you have. We were there 🤩
Can you believe I have the original vinyl for this? Some friends would say that format is dead. So happy I didn’t listen
Check out the original from 1980.. recorded by Odyssey
Try almost 50 years AND once having been a DJ! Lol. Love this!!
This was and still is a gay anthem! This song packed the dance floors!
Summer 1990..........OMG everyone went nuts on the dance floor when this awesome song started!
LMAO!
I love this tune. When the world was a nice place.
Yes, exactly
The world was never a nice place.
This song filled the dance floor at C.C. Construction Company in Palm Springs. Was always saved for the last song because everyone would wait for it.
I've been searching for this song ever since a friend let me listen to her tape back in 1990! I finally found it today!!!
I know the feeling
82 and still dancing, wonderful. Pat

Yes
Sandy Linzer and I
wrote this song about
the soul satisfaction of 💃 🕺 dancing and
Original by Odyssey went to #1 on BBC1
OMG
what a thrill
Also, in the gay community we were going to sometimes one or more memorials a week... This was definitely a way to balance all that XoXo 💋
Still one of the all-time greatest club songs. Stands up after all these years and would still pack the dance floor.

Pat Sharp's Mullet was so epic it should have had an album and show of its own.
Absolutely! There should me a museum dedicated to it!
I'm a tad jealous of it
It kinda did for a while - he was on a kids tv game show called Fun House! It was a sad day when he cut it all off.
Omg! The Twins! Now they were a bone shaker!
I fondly remember this song. This would get me out on the dance floor every time.
Thanks for the wonderful memories!
Such fond memories of this song and the people surrounding it.
This song did make the Billboard hot 100 in 1990. It made No 81. I met Pat Sharpe once who signed my records i had by them,
Damn this was the bomb back in the day!
Thank You everyone who enjoys this hot little number Sandy Linder and I wrote one afternoon in his basement.
L.Russell Brown
This song and remix rock. I know it was only a hit in the UK. I wish it had been huge in the USA too.
@@cristofarosaraceno1313You had to search for it here in the US, but this way it never was used up or worn out
@@cristofarosaraceno1313 it was in the clubs. just didn't hit mainstream for some reason. makes it all that more special. :)
I had the cassette single! Chicago loved this song! 💕
It was the Pat and Mick version that brought your brilliant work to my attention. Great stuff. You crafted a helluva disco/dance anthem.
I learned to dance to this song in the 90's at The Office on Wright St. in Pensacola, FL. I still love this classic!
Had so much fun at the Office! Those were good times.
A certified Fire Island Classic, and still a floor-filler today!
Nossa!! procurei essa musica por anos!!! finalmente!!! to ficando velho!! Dancei muito!!
First heard this gem at bourbon pub/parade club in New Orleans back in 90/91 and other countless clubs throughout the area.❤️💯
i remember this song summer 1990
our DJ always mixed V Shepherd' "Brinmg On the Boys" after this! Incredible energy!
Love this tune, Pat and Mick are so funny. Too bad most in the video are probably now line dancing at the local senior center!
Lembro dos tempos da Babilônia discoteca Leblon RJ , alguém curtiu???
This was a hot dance mix at the end up in San Francisco♥️👁️👁️♥️
OMG!Tons of fun dancing to in the D.O.K. West. Love those days!
I am Telling you...I am so grateful to have been about when these songs were released. These Gen Y's will never know what they missed
Caracas. Quanta alegria rever essa musica aqui em 2019!!!!!!! A primeira vez foi em.1989. Amo

Amazing time in my life. It was one of Kai and my favorite songs..
OMG I loved this song so much back in the day!
TEMPO BOM QUE NAO VOLTA MAS!!!!!
I remember hearing this song on “Open House Party with John Garabedian” radio show in the early 90s. I think I might have even recorded it on a mixtape. 😆 ❤️
It's such an uplifting song!
Que Canción!!!!! que recuerdos!!!
I love this song during jazzercise clas I was always asking the teacher to play it
I hope she did not think I was gay
too late.
80s 90s rules ! So fresh
I like Pat Sharp
Just one of the greatest club dance songs. Incredible!
I want to know who sings the backup vocals. Backup vocalists never get recognition.
Use it up!!
Pat and Mick are the background vocals. Lord knows they buried them way way way down in the mix.
The guy at 1:27 is rocking kneepads. I'll give you one guess what he likes to use them for.
FInally found it, only took me 35+ yrs. thanx
this was da bomb back in the day lol
Dancers: What should we wear for the video shoot?
Wardrobe Department: Oh, just come in whatever you have on.
If that's the case then what was that dude in the kneepads up to when he got the call?
@@Paul-os1fr Sanding floors. Sanding sexy, sexy floors.
"Pump Up The Jam" beginin' ❤️
Wow, I forgot this song existed until looking up songs that charted low in the late '80s/early '90s. I hadn't heard this probably since 1990. It was always on the radio.
Música para os meu ouvidos, literalmente. Amo desde que ouvi a primeira vez, em 1991 ou 1992
Love it. A proper hidden gem. Shame it wasnt an 80s record, would be a good fot for an 80s set. Sounds a lot like pump up the jam bassline
No substitute for the legend that is the Patman
EPIC 80s guilty pleasure!
Never heard the 1980 Original - but always danced to this 1990 version in the clubs.
Wow!!! I danced all the night out with this amazing song!!! What a great 80’s at the best Gay Club ”Crazy Club” in Caracas-Vzla
First song I heard when I first made it into a gay club in 1990
Ahhh… memories!
A gem soooooo catchy & cheesy! Old school rocks!🥳🤪
Great song... 10/10
*2018* anyone?
This is one of those songs that makes me smile every time I hear it, even in 2024! This version is way better than the original Odyssey release and didn't have that annoying shrill whistle in it!
No match for the originators of this song the pure genius and vocal talent that is Odyssey.
Nah uh! This version is way better and didn't have that awful shrill whistle in it!
mick looks like quentin tarantino XD good song :)♥
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
And that’s Jerry Seinfeld in a blond wig with him.
@@TheRustyLM totally! hehe
Muy buena canción. Ya es inmortal...

I have got pat Sharp autograph somewhere

What you said - and that's why we loved it here in Australia too!
The clothes and hair - makes me laugh, we all dressed like that. The music is alot of fun.
The new Durex anthem.
Oh my dog....That Pat Blunt was too bloody clever for his own good...
Maluco esse som!
Great song!!!!!!!
Love these guys
The singing kinda reminds of the theme tune for ‘Dogtanian’ 🤔
It's even better if you imagine Beavis and Butt-head providing commentary.
Sol lmao
A poor man's Wham!
Is there a point to your comment?
por fin,,,lo encuentro ,,,gracias lovinthe80s1!!!
26 1/2 years later, and still INFATUATED by this.
The perfect weekend kick-off song, along with Wet Willie's Weekend.
OK, I listened to their Let's All Chant and Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet, and Use it up is my clear winner.
Something tell me I am so glad I was way to young to remember the songs that Pat and Mick released
Ritmo maravilhoso, música gostosa de ouvir e dançar!
YEAH
It's 1990 all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOP WOOP

Great cover of Odyssey”s original disco song
Can't be unseen !!

Interesting to see what Joaquin Phoenix got up to before the old acting game picked up for him
Sad to say this was a staple at my primary school discos!!!!
Lol
Magnificent mullet!
I still fancy Pat Sharp since his FunHouse days and I still do know, although why the hell am I admitting that I dunno
Dont know why you are either lol he has better hair now l ol
reviviendo los 80
Where was this song a hit? Literally do not recall this song.
in the uk was a charity record produced by stock aitken waterman

The only thing that stops me dancing to this, is that I prefer the twins from fun house! :D
Did you know that the twins auditioned for roles as presenters on The Word? They sent in an audition tape and it was shown on the show along a few others that didn't get picked.

First time seeing the video, they made a great comedy team too.
really, never saw this clip (fortunately) but damm, we danced for hours 😄😄
Where exactly are "Pat and Mick" supposed to be singing on this?
Had a big crush on Mick when i was a teen😊
Was this really 26 years ago?
Yes, those clothes are not trying to be “retro.” 😕
Johnny Caruthers Did you see TOTP 1990?
