In 1929 my father was an orphan in Conway South Carolina. The depression was on and the orphanage was secretly abusing the children so he left! He met up with another homeless child and they hung out together and built a little shack by the river. They found a turtle! So being kids they started teasing it my father got too close and you can guess what happened the turtle was a snapping alligator turtle and locked onto my fathers foot. One of the boys said the only weigh a total will let go would be if it heard the sound of lightning and thunder. So there was a tobacco warehouse nearby and he limped over there with the turtle on his foot. One of the boys picked up a stick and was banging the hell out of the building to make it sound like a lightning storm. Dad had lost a lot of blood and was about to pass out when several men came running because the building the tin shed was a tobacco sales auction and everyone heard the frantic banging and came outside. Once they saw that the turtle had my fathers foot, one of the man took out a knife and decapitated the turtle and freed up my dads foot. We were all raised in Arizona so even the tortoise that you occasionally find out here we were petrified of! The man took my father to the hospital and after that the police rounded up all of the homeless boys and took them all back to the same orphanage. My father joined the army just before the war and in 1945 The Army air Corps became the United States Air Force well my father made a lateral transfer and stayed in for 26 years. Here is a joke for you: Guy walks into a restaurant and tells the waitress. “ Give me a bowl of Turtle Soup 🍲 AND MAKE IT SNAPPY!🎉

Everything in my instinct would’ve never been waving that finger in front of Snappy’s face. Idgaf how friendly he is, a worm’s always tempting to a turtle lolololololllll

That's what blew me away about this video. You never see this happen. I've encountered at least four snapping turtles in my life and none of them were nice.

That thing is incredibly tame for a wild caught snapper, I'm seriously shocked. Even captive bred ones usually aren't this docile. He is definitely uncommon among his species lol

That is DEFINITELY uncommon for a snapper. They are generally pretty grumpy ..he's a sweetheart though.
I hope he has someone to adopt him and take care of him when he finally crosses over...which hopefully won't happen for a long time to come.
But they live a long time and i would hate to think of poor snappy ending up alone after such a long and bonded friendship..
    God Bless them both.
