Up to 17 minutes, very informative. Then you went onto the corner with “now the next piece is ready”😂 To help others….explain the corner process in more detail!
Top job mate. I've never papered a wall in my life and I'm doing this same job in 3 days time! I'm more confident after watching and listening to this.
i use a straight edge and a sharp blade to to do my cuts.i only use my scissors when im cuting my lengths on the the table.everyone has there own technique.iv been in this game for over 25 yrs great video tho 👌
My only concern I would use a sponge on the external corner gives a muck better finish the a hanging brush. And definitely use a caulking board and Stanley knife. From a time served decorator like your self.
Great job once again When doing any fireplace as feature wall, do u always start from the centre and when it comes to the corners Measure the distance from the edge of the wallpaper in the centre to the front corner of the chimney breast, then add 25mm. Cut a length of paper to this width and hang, taking the extra 25mm round the corner, overlapping the side piece. Repeat for the other side , and then overlap the piece round the corner to the wall to finish.is this how you do the corners.
Ive only ever wallpapered flat feature walls but tomorrow i have to papery chimney breast which is unfortunately wider at the top than the bottom, was hoping you would show how to go around the external corner and i would be lucky enough for it to be out lol
Thanks, in this case no need to line usually only line if the paper is very thin and light in colour or the walls are crazed. I always line if the instructions on the paper advice to though.
@@PaintingandDecorating That comment was very helpful. Have done a fair bit of papering and don't usually line but understand more now when you would need to.
Great video informative as usual, I do have a question when you paste two lengths at a time like you did with the first two you said it's critical to get the soaking times the same but if it only takes you a couple of minutes to paste two lengths but over five minutes to hang the first piece then that means the second length has been soaking for at least 3-4 minutes longer? Cheers Ian
I'm doing this on my course at the moment and im really struggling. I keep taring paper or putting it on upside down or just generally making terrible cuts, even when I finally got a length on the today when putting the next piece on i caught the first piece and tore it, Im really disappointed in myself, I've been told I'm a good painter but I just feel like packing it in because I can't see that I'm going to improve. I'm not sure my aspergers isn't something to do with it eitiher. Sorry to be a moan, you're very good at it even with the camera recording.
It depends on the return, if you have more paper to put on then it has to be plumb.. usually loose it actually on the corner if it does not line up. Thanks
22:08 is what I came here to see - the cut you have to make to go round the corner. It's made my DIY wallpapering task so much easier!
Thank you.. your welcome.

Thank you... Thanks for watching
Very good video guide. I am going to try to do this myself on a similar area but without the chimney breast. 👏 👏
thank you.
@@PaintingandDecorating No worries 👍
Great advice and demonstration. Used this week. Helped me out massively. Thanks.

How did it go?
This is the way I would do it I've been Painting and decorating for 30+ years and you get young kids think they know Better .
Thank you.
Great work as always mate . Fair play to ya for scissoring that awkward bottom area. Blade for me all day on that particular area but a great job pal.
Thank you...
Great use of scissors but on some occasions a blade and straight edge would be far quicker and less hassle but every one to there own devices
Brilliant and informative, will be following you again tomorrow step by step fingers crossed we can do it nicely like you! Thanks for the tips 👍🏻👍🏻

A craftsman at work again, very informative.
thank you.
Great video. The volume could be worked on a bit. I had to put earphones on to hear you.. very informative.
Thanks, and yes working on getting some microphones to improve the sound.
Great video. I take it the key is to have a decent pair of scissors ✂️.
Thank you, yes a good pair of scissors is essential. You can use snap blades if you prefer. Thank you

Fantastic video. Thank you. Unfortunately, sound not good though which is a shame.
Very informative, and a nice clean job done, would you do it the same way with plain wallpaper?
Regards Catherine

Sure would like to see them lines up close
This was really boring. Where was the stepping into the bucket or walking through the paper as you went up the ladder?
Thank you Excellent
your welcome.
And you don't need to be standing on the top rung og the step ladder it's about health and safety and states on the ladder it's self safety first
Brilliant!
Great job and well explained, did you line first ? and what circumstances would you line?

IAN Knight you adjust how long it is before you paste the second.
looks great loved the video.
Thanks.
That's the easy bit, why didn't you show us how to paper around the corner when pattern won't match because the wall is out.
No worries will show you how it's done on a video... if I didn't know how I would be out of a job.
The pattern doesn't match!!
Dave Dee . Ofcourse it matches. It’s a drop match, or in other words , every alternative length is the same
Ouch lol

Thanks, practice makes perfect keep at it.
I maybe late but dont give up you dont get good just like that just take your time.
at what point do you make the decision not to wrap full piece round and butt up and go for wrapping round 20mm and overlapping to match
Would papering around an external corner, cause the paper to go out of plum? Do you need to overlap like you would with an internal corner?
It depends on the return, if you have more paper to put on then it has to be plumb.. usually loose it actually on the corner if it does not line up. Thanks
You should move with the times mate and use a blade more .also a rubber seem roller . Not being funny . Just saying .
Can you come do mine … how much do you charge ? 😊👌🏻
Why did u not use seam roller ?
one hour to place a strip, it doesn t work|
Watched lots of your videos but how and were would you join paper if continuing into the reveals ?
Will do a video on corners internal and external.
I always use a seam roller but I never see you use one is there a reason you don't use them. Cheers.
You dont use seam rollers when paper is wet with paste you wait till next day or when paper is dry.
@@jamesowens5469 what's point in using a seam roller when when paper has dried ? Explain your thinking ..never heard anything as daft in my life !!!
Been trying to find that werner platform ladder you have there
Any chance you could share model number?
They are from the Dulux centre Werner High Handrail Stepladder they come in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. 8, tread
Worst paper pattern ever made.
I only wanted to know ‘should I start from a centre line’ so ‘it depends on your paper’ was not at all helpful
It is if you want the pattern to look even on your wall. Thanks
Great job on hanging the paper but that’s a ugly option of paper.
Thanks.
