I am a life long NYK fan. The problem with Stephen A and others is their expectations are unrealistic. Up until a couple of years ago the NYK were a laughingstock. They were one of the worst teams in the NBA. Now just a few years later they are a good team. They are a team capable of winning 50 games in the regular season. Are they the best team? No they are not. It takes time. If you think you are going to worst to first in a few years that is just plain unrealistic. The NYK have made huge improvements. Stick with the process and they will be rewarded. Do what a Stephen A wants and you will never get to where you ultimately want to be. Also remember Stephen A wants views and controversy. He doesn't want to wait. Be patient. Success will come. The NYK are in a great position. They have some really good contracts and a boat load of picks. Finally we have a team we can be proud of!!
As much as I agree with you, you’re not winning without a star. Brunson might be him but we haven’t seen our ceiling with him yet and Stephen just doesn’t trust Randle 😂. I get it. Randle hasn’t played well when we need him the most. But yea give it time and hope for the best. He’s just tired of the mediocrity in NY and hearin his passion for the Knicks is comical to me 🤣

Stephen A always think a superstar addition is the only answer. Defensive minded player wins game. They already got randle and brunson a closer. Rj barret is not a perfect fit for them.
I agree with what you're saying about SAS. He doesn't care about wins. He cares about clicks, etc. As far as where they are right now, I like their chances to win it all as much as anybody. If they can play the way they've been playing since OG got here, every other team should be worried about them.

I know Dejounte Murray is the name floating around but I prefer going after Mikal Bridges and insert him at SG. Our defense would be elite, he’s long at SG with ability to guard 1-4, and he can spread the floor. Imagine him and OG 🔒 Not to mention the cohesion with his Villanova brothers. I’d offer Fournier’s expiring contract, Grimes, 2 unprotected and 2 protected first round picks. Lastly I would add cheap bench depth like a Drummond at center or Saddiq Bey for more scoring in the second unit. Bey would be a one year rental, he’s on his final year of his rookie deal. And Drummond is making roughly $3 mil, a bargain.
Smith wants a “star” more than he wants a winning team. Thank God he’s not a general manager.

We've seen this before and watched it crumble. It would be great to see the Knicks in the finals but given the fact that Randle likes to disappear when it matters most, and the fact that it's the Knicks, we have optimistic pessimism.
@@tpeoples3516 against the Hawks, it was Ju’s first playoffs ever and he was keyed in on. Last year, he played with an ankle injury then got surgery after the season ended. I got optimism. This isn’t the same old 2000s Knicks.

Stephen A was SLAMMING this trade in a rant SEVEN DAYS AGO. This trade was a great trade for both teams - The Raptors have a different dynamic now going forward and the Knicks needed this kind of defensive ace (especially with Robinson out) And they still have draft capital for a tall shooter. OG will resign with the Love connection. The only person who didn't think this trade was a great trade was the guy who couldn't 'hide his smile.'

And Grimes has had a resurgence since the OG trade. I would try to avoid trading Grimes but Brooklyn will want someone to develop like Grimes or McBride.

As a Knicks fan for 30 years, we tried to do it with Melo and Amare in 2010. And it was a complete FAILURE. We lost too many draft picks and other good role players.
And for the Ewing era, he was drafted by the Knicks, not by trading.
Hence we should stick with the current squad for now
Problem is the knicks now are better than during Ewing.. This team reminds me A LOT of our ship teams when we did smart trades. Lets remind people that the frazier monroe backcourt was one of the best backcourts in HISTORY (still to this day). And the reed debusschere frontcourt ? Jeeeezus. When we built around Clyde, Captain and got Earl and Dave it pushed us to that next level. And these are by no means scrubs even in todays game imho.
You are right on the risk factor but teams that won either drafted smart or traded smart (or both). We have picks and money why not use them ?
He says Randle is a no show in the playoffs -- played injured for 2 rounds last season + was first option w/ no help who relied on his 3 the previous playoffs. But he wants Donovan Mitchell -- a 6'2" guard who doesn't show up in the playoffs. He wants Embiid -- another no show and always injured in the playoffs. He's an idiot that's for sure.
As a knicks fan tho who would honestly pass up on a chance of getting embiid, yes he has his playoff woes but he still is a mvp and championship level talent. @@masterkluv Donovan Mitchell has proven nothing in the playoffs in his entire career. He never shows up. DiVincenzo is playing out of his mind as well having a career year from 3 and all across the boards. Not only that his defense is elite and his non-reliance for the ball is the reason why Randle and Brunson are cooking this year. Now you add OG and the spacing and ball movement opens up even more. You don't need a team full of superstars to win and this newly constructed Knicks team proves that. Look how all these superteams have turned out -- they simply don't work. It all comes down to balance and building a team where players compliment each other's style of play. Donovan Mitchell will absolutely kill that chemistry whether you want to this so or not.

I think the Knicks template might be what you need to be successful in this new cba. Stars that aren’t entirely eating all your cap space so you can have good bench depth. Boston imo is the only top heavy team that also has depth. (Heat too maybe) Even the pacers have the best offense this year. Haliburton was paid a super max but most the guys around him aren’t being paid that so they have a lot of depth. If they were to throw in one or two defensive pieces or had two, 2 way players they would also probably be dangerous.
Knicks should pursue Mikal Bridges and slot him at SG. Defense would be consistently elite and he fits perfectly with our offense.
Biggest proof that Stephen A ain't a real Knicks fan: ignoring the fact that julius and thibs made it a point to stop the bad shots and holding the ball too long and he hasn't played like bad Julius, to the joy of all Knicks fans, AT ALL this year. For years, even after the 2019 and 2021 playoffs, Stephen A has religiously and sometimes even angrily, defended James hardens chokes in the playoffs. Look at a debate in 2020 about who’s better Luka or harden and Stephen A lost his mind about it defending him. Yet Julius Randle had one healthy bad playoff series, the other playoff series he’s been in he was so injured to the point that immediately after the playoffs ended he got surgery that kept him recovering till the start of the 2024 season. He’s not a Knicks fan

Stephen A thinks that NYC is about the stars, the garden is about the celebrities and being box office. NYC is a working class city, that's one reason why the 90's knicks are remembered to well, they were a hardworking mentally tough team. This pickup was perfect.
I consider Brunson the Knicks star. So much gravity and skill, the vision.
I like Brunson, if Robinson comes back. They might make an ECF run if they get a good draw come April.

Not really, they have stars already and plenty of stars want to play there. Knicks just choose not to sign them.
We do not necessarily need another superstar. We need bench depth and a player at SG that elevates our defense and fits with our offense. If I were the Knicks I would target MIKAL BRIDGES! Imagine him and OG being able to effortlessly switch from 1-4 (sometimes OG at the 5). This move immediately turns our defense from very good to consistently elite. Also Mikal doesn’t need the ball to be effective, he’s an excellent slasher, and can spread the floor. Add to that chemistry with his Villanova brothers.

I think Mikal warrants three first rounders, I’m willing to give them four. If they’re still playing hard ball throw in a pick swap on top of the four picks. And they get Grimes and cap space with Fournier’s expiring contract. Give them a deal they can’t refuse.
I agree with you about the superstar, but the league is a business first. The NBA needs a marketable star winning championships in NYC for ratings.
You obviously don’t understand FIT!! What Dante Divincenzo does for the Knicks, for the season 47% from the field, 44% from 3 and only 1 turnover a game, doesn’t need the ball at all to get you 12-15 point a game plays defense and doesn’t take a possession off, Bridges shoots 45% from the field, only 35% from 3 and averages 2.5 turnovers a game this is about fit Brunson and Randle need the ball and their facilitating gets the shots for hot shooting Divincenzo and Anunoby.
I don’t know if Mikal actually makes the Knicks true contenders but I would love to watch that Mikal O.G. defence
not a knicks fan, but it's great to see the franchising finally turning things around. they remind me of the 2016 raptors led by lowry x derozan, similar style of play. on paper, the names on the roster don't point to a championship contender; but they really compete and punch above their weight class. they have a strong identity, as much as stephen a. wants a big name star; it doesn't make sense for them right now -- they're still building.

The Knicks have had success by trying to build a team organically. Good coaching trading for players who play defense and can be affective scoring wise. We got lucky with Brunson. We’re not the best but we got better. Chasing a star never got us anywhere.
What makes me upset about SAS is he'll bring up Julius Randles playoff performance as a reason to be reserved and yet think Donovan Mitchell is what we need, when in fact DM has also been mid in the playoffs...

Our bench(McBride, Grimes, Hart) is playing at a high level scoring double digits nightly and even on nights where JB and JR have separate low scoring games...we still blew the team out by 20 plus.
