A TOUGH OLD SLOG UP TO THE SITE OF A WORLD WAR 2 BOMBER CRASH SITE, THE PLANE WAS RECALLED DURING AN ABORTED BOMBING RAID OVER GERMANY BUT WENT OFF COURSE IN POOR WEATHER AND ENDED UP CRASHING ON WEST HILL AT BRAYDON CRAGS, OF THE 9 CREW THE COCKPIT OCCUPANTS INCLUDING THE NAVIGATOR DIED, 3 MADE IT TO MOUNTHOOLEY AND 4 SAT IT OUT UP AT THE SITE. THEY WERE RESCUED AND LED DOWN BY SHEPHERDS AND THE DOGS, SOON AFTER THEY CLEARED THE AREA THE BOMBS ONBOARD EXPLODED CAUSING THE CRATERS AS CAN BE SEEN IN THIS, THE SHEPERDS AND THE DOG WERE AWARDED BRAVERY MEDALS. TRUE HERO STORY, A VERY SOMBRE PLACE. AFTER A TOUGH WALK UP WE PITCHED IN A SHELTERED SPOT AND HAD A GOOD CAMP. THANKS TO MARK AND ESPECIALLY RAB WHO TRAVELLED FROM HALIFAX FOR THIS CAMP. HOPEFULLY THE WIND NOISE ISNT TOO OFF PUTTING, I LEFT IT IN TO SHOW HOW WILD IT WAS..
Think i've watched every Wardle video now ...... immense channel. Laughed out loud a lot. Up in Bamburgh and Seahouses next week from sunny Cornwall. Will be waving to the Geordie mafia. Many thanks for all the excellent content.

Grew up in the next valley, over the Border to the west. Also spent loads of time working in forestry in that valley back in the 80s/90s. Camped up by the rescue shelter for the Solstice this year.
Great place to grow up. I used to wander these hills years and years ago I never knew the names or camped. Rediscovering them is great. Solstice camp sounds great. 👍 Atb
Really enjoyed that one mate, quite surreal that wreckage, how the plane still remains after all these yrs. Mint place to camp that, cracking views. Nice touch with the music when you were at the crash site, good stuff 👍. Atb marra.
Miles from anywhere it’s mad the wreck is still there. Dunno how much longer though. There’s not a lot and the peat claims it. Was a good spot like. Loving the cheviots at the minute. Really quiet. Atb mate. 👍
The music was added because of the wind blasting. But aye. I think it worked well. 👍

We were almost killed in that raging torrent 😂 yeah the mountains are great once you’re up. The wreck is fascinating a lot more to it if you google it. There’s 19 wreck sites up there. Makes you wonder. Atb mate 👍
Great video at least the wind did not stop this back out. Getting plenty of wind down my way too with rain also. Daylight saving started yesterday and bought middle of winter weather with it. Stay safe up your way

Border Rambler aye it’s came today. Brand new. I was hoping they’d send a 9 😂 we had the wind blowing us up the hill so it wasn’t too bad. And the crags helped. So not a bad spot. Hope you get oot soon Atb mate. 👍

Think I camped there 95% sure. Walked down that way slog on the way up I bet. Might get a camp done Tuesday typical good weather when I'm working and crap on my days off lol.

5 stroke wander scotland ho de ho 😂 not sure. Depends on the weather and how fit we feel. We usually make a plan about Thursday. Better idea of conditions then. We’ll keep it secret if it’s a gem. This camp was tough to get to only the real campers will go here. No mess 👍 hope you’re well.

Why didn't you pitch your tents closer to the rocks for a wind break? Is there some type of rule against it. I'm in the US and don't camp in that type of setting.
Ahh yeah it was too rocky and uneven nearer the sheltered crag. We had to search for the flat spots. Getting the pegs in to rocky ground is a task too. 👍 we just make the most of it.
