Can't explain how much , we malayalees love this movie. It's not just the plot and performances. Also music is rooted in our folklore and the sounds we have grown up hearing. Thank you for reacting. The original makers still don't want to make a second part because they know they can't re-create the magic of it.
I don't think any Malayali audience during that time had any confusion, it was certainly psychological thriller and nothing to do with posession...thanks for reacting and really loved that Melanie was able to go to Kerala and visit the 'Padmanabhapuram Palace'...
The Director Fazil asked for the help of Sobhana to sit with him to time the cuts between the reality and the fantacy shots. So it is actually Sobhana's edit that we see in the song sequence.
We grew up watching these movies and songs. Loved the enthusiasm with which @Melanie explained her experiences visiting the palace and how she follows Shobana. We as Malayalis are so damn proud of this movie and Shobana's dance sequence especially, feeling more proud upon seeing how much you appreciate it all too. Loved it ❤
The level of subtle details she brought to her performance -- even we noticed it -- the delusional one dances tad offbeat and wonky but the fully crossed over one in her imagination is where she gives it her all for the masterful classical dancer Shobana truly is in real life... Just one of many aspects that makes this video breathtaking and brilliant! When you take care of almost every little detail, lo and behold, a masterpiece is born for generations to behold, regardless of whatever remakes others attempt and fail spectacularly.
Could not have said it better... beautifully described in your comment here. She really is amazing, and this performance I think will go down as one of the best I will see in my lifetime.
Now this is talent. This is what called "acting". Her expression is so real and accurate I can't describe how much impressed I am. There's no words to describe her performance
This movie was shot in Padmanabhapuram palace now in Tamil Nadu Located in the Kanniyakumari district, Padmanabhapuram was once a part of the erstwhile kingdom of Travancore. It is considered that the palace is one of the oldest of its kind in all of India. Though now situated inside Tamil Nadu, the palace is owned and operated by the Government of Kerala. The palace is still under the control of state Government of Kerala and also when the movie was shot. This palace is the one only monument in India is in the another state but controlled by another state government. Because earlier those Kanyakumari regions was in Kerala State. This was the first movie which was narrated the story of a dual personality in Indian cinema. Now There are so many remakes are there in different Indian languages from this original.
I am surprised you are able to relate to this song. As a kid growing up, I loved this movie but to a lot of modern audiences it can seen a little odd, especially something like schizzofrenia shown through a musical number. But great review though.
We reviewed it on our channel, it was one of our earlier movies and we really got a sweet of how special this industry is through this movie. Such an incredible and iconic movie.
See, we like to watch reaction but listening to your conversation is actually a big deal😂... Please talk after watching the videos otherwise it is little awkward😪
I'll address it on a video soon, but technically we have to do it like this, especially for songs. The other option is pausing the video in between. If not, I can't do it at all due to UA-cam's policies as well as copyright. Lots of creators are being hit at the moment.

I respect them for not trying to make a remake.. this one is timeless

Fascinating.. when watching it I had some suspicions that maybe it was possession.. just due to the slight horror cues. But it was brilliantly done.

That's so awesome.. so glad to hear she was so involved with the process!

Kalaripayatt is not kung fus mother or father. Kalaripayatt is just an inferior body aesthetic show infront of kung fu.
@@oblivion_007 Keralites used Kalaripayattu in wars. The British banned practicing Kalaripayattu because they were scared of it. 🤌
