In all honesty; your playing, and especially your really wide, slow vibrato, is absolutely phenomenal. I’m 44 and have grown up listening to all the famous guys. You are top 3 I’ve ever heard.
I also have a Barrington but a BRG883, fantastic guitar :D Really weird little brand... Agreed about the machine screws for the locking nut, makes life easier! And you wont have to worry about the wood stripping out from several adjustments!
Oh cool! Didn't know much about this guitar! Very interesting, very cool lesson! Glad the guy sent you the guitar, I'm always kind of affraid to buy guitars I can't play before buying.
Man, that's a beautiful guitar. Love that neck cutaway. Kinda reminds me of an N4. Funny, I picked up a pink Guild Aviator from a pawn shop back in the day. Guy was like gimme 200 bucks. It's pink! Nobody wants this thing, lol. Nice guitar, also has a beautiful neck.
Noticed the bridge pickup was upside down - What's the deal there? For a Peter Green-effect or for tone? Quite intrigued if it cleans up some of the less-preferred frequencies that a bridge pickup can have.
Love your videos man! I wanted to ask, what is the purpose of raking the strings when you do bends? I've seen other guitarists do it and I don't really understand why
hello mister Brandon. im a big fan of you. if i could meet you in person one day, i would ask you to give signs on my Jackson and Music Man. you always have a place to sit alongside mister Petrucci .. in my mind 😄 sorry, i just learned English 🙏🏻
hey Brandon , do you have some exercices to build the speed and the strength in the fingers that helped you back in the days , i'm kinda fast , i can play a song from TBDM or two , but i feel like i struggle increase my speed :) your exercices are awesemome but it requires some speed haha
Left hand came on it's own, I wanted to play fast so I tried, after many hours it came. From practicing scale shapes across the fretboard, and arpeggios. I was trying to map out my fretboard and the left hand speed came concurrently. I think progress is made in a practice session after you've reached the point of being 100% warmed up and feeling as "in the zone" as you can get. Sometimes it can take quite a while just to get to that point...and then the progress can start. A lot of times I pick up the guitar and tinker around for 30 minutes and never get there, and while it's fun to play and maybe some new ideas might come out, there probably isn't any serious progress made in the musculature department in that situation. For the right hand, the same goes, especially for the metal rhythm playing and the raw ability. But the key to speed and fluidity in leads for me has always been economy of motion, and picking in short bursts mixed in with legato or economy picking. Precision and control. My right hand has a far easier time on leads than on riffing, it is doing much less actual movement.
@@BrandonEllisGtr hey man thanks a lot for your answer , indeed after seeing you , i'm starting to practice economy picking ,i realized that i was also doing it naturally thanks to sweeping exercises that i had done before ,but i need to practice , but you're right it comes with time ,however i realized that it's really similar to work out at the gym . if you understand how the muscles work, but thanks for the advice, I'll push it further once I'm in the zone, I've noticed that you also have a very specific way of moving your wrist when you alternate pick, I don't really understand your movement yet but it's cool, your pick is also inclined it seems :) in any case with this technique it seems that the effort and tension on the wrist is less! thanks again for the advice, you really are an inspiration :)
@@BrandonEllisGtr alright i get it , what i think i neglected is the legato arpeggios , i can do some , but not enough , i realized that you guys have so much strength in the fingers that you can play a scale just in legato , with no picking , so i will practice that and economy picking , thanks again , just a chat with you made me realize that
I swear bro is Yngwie without all of the arrogance 😂 great playing as always your willingness to share knowledge is everything to me as an intermediate player getting into modes and getting away from playing straight up pentatonic licks
Very cool. I thought that guitar was an old Kramer Stage master. I used to have one, but it's not.. What is that? I love it.. Very cool man. I dig your playing. I'm 61 and you really are good. Very cool. Thanks man.. I remember those guitars man.. I wish I knew theory. I don't and I've been playing a long time. I can play ok, but there's a lot I miss not knowing theory.. It confuses me.. I must be stupid. 😛
yeah dude, I'm in. I was looking for a kind of a "mentor figure" for my practice routine and everything from ideas you explore to the way you narrate seems spot on. You're really good too. I wonder how a fucking TBDH guitarist sits at 28k subs when mediocre players who just make "guitar comedy/entertaining" content close at million subs.
Good afternoon Brandon, I would like you to teach the Tapim technique that you did in a video (scalloped Strat Improv) in which you play with an orange stratocaster with gold hardware. Ah make the video with Kelly black and gold. Got Top to Kelly custon. Big hug .
Hey man, actually there is a lesson on SLD on that scalloped strat improv jam specifically, and also a lesson on just that michael romeo type tapping technique
I'd say this lesson is indicative of what is on there, I am mostly teaching my own pieces and licks, with some theory lessons as well for folks to be able to follow along with my harmony lingo
Right, when you do the credits for an album you have to name each location, people commonly come up with fictitious studio names, so I started calling it that. But I knew the pun was destined for greater use 😅
@@nathanclave Okay then yes 11-56, 12-60 works well too if you like a little more tension or are playing a shorter scale guitar. But you might need to file a nut slot
Been a member of the Shred Light District for over a year. Brandon breaks down riffs and lick with incredible detail. I definitely have become a better player through that time. Also has some great guitar setup/maintenance lessons. Recommend this to any guitar player trying learn some new techniques and ideas as well as TBDM fans looking to learn the way Brandon plays the songs.
Brandon, I really want an 8 string guitar in a 26.5" scale with a floyd rose and a 16" straight fretboard radius. 80's superstrat style. Please make it happen!
Brandon, have you ever considered making an instrumental solo album?
Yes please
We can dream…
I would love that!
Oh yes!!!!!
Yes! Brandon damn it bro get on it lol
For the past 12 months you have been my favorite guitarrist! Amazing playing!
Thank you!
make it 60 months :D
In all honesty; your playing, and especially your really wide, slow vibrato, is absolutely phenomenal. I’m 44 and have grown up listening to all the famous guys. You are top 3 I’ve ever heard.
His sweep picking is always so clean 🧼 👌
I remember watching the original video of you playing this piece when I was a college freshman. Man how time flies.
By far my favorite modern player since i first discovered you in 2018, amazing playing man truly a huge inspiration
Love when you do those rake bends I think that’s what it’s called but it sounds so good
A year ago and I'm just seeing this now? WOWWWW!!!! Looks like I got homework.
"Im bringing back pink guitars"

Love your shredding man, keep killing it!
Marc kills it too just wish they would go back to their melodic deathcore style
I just wanna say thank you for this, you are my main reason why i strum guitar so hard & stay clean even in bridge pickup position
I also have a Barrington but a BRG883, fantastic guitar :D

I just picked up a Barrington Brc882t/c exactly like yours but with gold hardware. Absolutely incredible guitar
I’ll be back soon. I’ll be done moving soon. Best damn lessons I’ve ever had
My guitar hero died in 04, this dude comes and reminds me that rock dont die.

Pink/ultraviolet single hum Kelly sig when?
Does sound cool doesnt it...
Brandon, when are you gonna stop messing around and do a solo album?
This looks like Page hamilton's old guitar, sick!

Hey Brandon, I’ve always been interested. What are those jackson heads like? Never payed one.
Its a marshall type flavor but with shitloads of gain. It has a loose, fat character

What gauge is he using on Eb standard and on C# standard?
9-46 for Eb, I don't often play C#, maybe 10-52? 11-49? Not sure
