Always look forward to seeing Fleet Friday.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Great video. Working for a fire marshal’s office, this would make a great scene response vehicle. I absolutely agree with the empty compartments leaving space for extra gear depending on the time of year or type of emergency. Outstanding, great job.
Thanks, FDNY K9 Unit has one not sure if they carry anything tho
Nice job! Good looking truck.
Thanks
Wow! Beautiful Chevy! Thanks so much Skyler for review!
Our pleasure!
@@SkylerFire 👍🙂
Excellent video as always Skyler. Amazing all the equipment they fit on that unit, with room to spare depending on needs. Very cool.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for doing this. I look forward to Fleet Fridays. Can’t wait until you do this every Friday. A great video as always.
Hard to keep up for every Friday sorry
Thank you for another great Fleet Friday video Skyler!
My pleasure!
Another great fleet Friday! Suprised at how little equipment is actually on the Rescue Battalion considering the size of the module on the back
Thanks for watching. Again this unit was not designed for them.
Nice again thank you
Thanks
Another great "Fleet Friday".
I grew up in Astoria, and for the life of me I don't know why " Welfare Island" is part of Manhattan.
The only road in and out is via Astoria. Engine 260 is the closest company, and it's covered by the 114th precinct.
I remember when the FDNY training school was on Welfare Island.
Many happy adventures happened on that little sliver of rock in the East River.
Great episode Skyler
Thanks
Thank you so much 😊❤😊 my Fleet Friday Friend 😊. I love the pullout tray table on back. That should be on all rigs with the space on back of rigs behind that is probably just frames of Rigs. Having a table outside is better than in cabs. On a Battalion Chiefs Rig in Seattle that runs out of Ballard, has same work/ Drawing try on back of his rig. My Friend just started working as Batt. Chief and showed me his vehicle. He told me he has to start driving again, he has been Officer for years, and not driven. I want to do a walk around of my 1971 SeaGrave engine just like you do, so I can do my own 😊
Personal Fleet Friday just for you. You are amazing showing all the great Equipment
FDNY puts on there Rigs. People need to see all the special equipment NEW York FD carriers.😊😊😊😊
Thanks for watching
Awesome video good job! Be safe!
Thanks, you too!
great video thanks
Thanks
Another great video. All my questions were answered in others comments. I'm a old USAR Capt so I'm always interested in the Rescue Operations. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video the rescue battalion is a great rig keep it up 👍
Thanks so much!
Your videos and commentary are great! Can you maybe show FDNY EMS some love, too? Would like to see you go through a Rescue Medics truck and ambulance, a HazTac ambulance, and the MERV and MRTU if you are willing and able. I look forward to Fleet Fridays! Thanks so much for taking the time to showcase the FDNY!
I am trying to
Love to see rescue medics trucks and equipments
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Enjoy your Fleet Friday's. You have some very intresting access to fire vehicles, which is great. I would like to ask if you could do a
Fleet Friday on MCC1 or 2 [Mobile Command Center]. Thanks!! Keep Up the Good Work!
I have a short video for MCC1
@@SkylerFire sorry it has taken so long to reply, your email was hidden in a differt section of my emails. I would like to see that video on the MCC1. Do you have an email address that I could contact you? I have a couple of questions.
Great video.
Not throwing shade but I was surprised by how much unused storage there was on this rig during the tour. The fact is was a prior EMS unit can go a long way to explain that but it just seemed odd.
Thanks to Skyler for posting this!
They are Paramedic Response Units…. Due to COVID they cancelled because they need to transport. Not much they can carry more then any other battalion
Also just want to say😊❤😊 the people that spec out the light bars for cab roof like the side rotation flasher. Gets a rotation of likht to blind spots on side of the Rig. 😊
Ok thanks for watching
Nice job …. Can you give us some insight on what units your are doing next ?
Mostly Special Units you will have to wait and see
As always, great review!
Can you reveal what’s in the mysterious locked compartment?
Or it’s just empty too?
It’s something for the shops
Hey Skyler, does the rescue battalion handle day to day call out’s and personnel issues with SOC and rescue’s or does the battalion chief the unit is in handle that stuff?
Rescue Battalion & Aide do day to day staffing for All 5 Rescues, 8 Squads, 2 TSUs, Rebreather, Dewatering, Rescue Logistics, Compressor, Roosevelt Island Staffing. Companies do not report to regular battalions.
Hazmat and the 4 HMTU Engines report to Hazmat Battalion
Marine Units report to Marine Battalion
That’s a lot of companies to keep track of. Thanks for the reply!
Who manufactured the utility box?
Interesting gear, but what about the training.
Training is everything.
How are your firefighters trained???
How many weeks???
Hazmat Tech 2 is 80 hours of training
Rescue Tech 1 is 80 Hours
Rescue Tech 2 is 80 Hours
Collapse is 40 hours
Hi Angel is 80 Hours
Trench is 40 Hours
SCUBA is 40 hours
Lots of extra space on that unit, guessing with most if not all the equipment being carried on the Rescue's themselves and their support Rescue Ops units as well as the other specialty companies under the RB's command there is not a lot of reason to fill the truck up.
Truck wasn’t designed for them it was a EMS unit
@@SkylerFire Makes sense, still a bit more room than the standard Burb
When did the rescue batt switch to this style of vehicle. I’ve always seen them in the standard BC vehicle
2 years ago or so
I think I seen on FB that new SUVs are coming in for chiefs vehs and I’m guessing ems too, You know how many are on order?
I don’t know the exact number. One of them already arrived they are Chevrolet 2500s again, Battalion 3 first one. Also new F150 Staff vehicles
who are the firefighters/drivers of the types of support vehicles in FDNY such as rescue operations battalion, logistics trucks, axel and others that you show in your videos from the fleet friday series. Are these firefighters who served in engine and ladder companies and are transferred to such positions, or do they transfer themselves wanting to work in a quiet position?
Everything at this location is manned by Rescue Operations Firefighters or SOC Firefighters.
Do collapse rescue !!
Working on it
What are the task of a bataillion driver if the chef don’t assume command of the incident. Is he assigne with a other unit to the fire?
Regular Battalion Chiefs….
1st Battalion Chief is Command
2nd Battalion Chief is Fire Floor with Aide
3rd Battalion Chief is Floor Above with Aide
4th Battalion Chief is Resource Unit Leader works at Command Post
5th Battalion Chief is Safety with Aide
Why were those vehicles discontinued?
Covid. They needed to have transport on everything
How many rescue battalions does FDNY have?
One
@@SkylerFire that is crazy they only have one for the biggest FD in the United States. Love your videos keep up the great work.
