Never give up on dua it will take Allah only a "kun" to turn things fully and give you what you want. The control of all human's hearts is between 2 fingers of Allah (it's just an example given in hadith to make us understand how easily Allah controls the hearts of people)

Assalamu alaikum Sheikh. I have learned and benefitted a lot from your lectures. May Allah (SWT) reward you abundantly for that. I have a serious problem (s) however. I have been in difficulties for years. I have been consistent and persistent in my prayers to Allah for solutions to these problems. Things are however getting worse for me. In fact, the more i try to get closer to AllAllah through supererogatory Ibadah and the more i pray to Allah for solutions to the problems bedevilling me, the more things get worse on my part. Admonish me, please!
