Assalamu alaikum, It is indeed prohibited to go to a fortune teller or to seek knowledge of the unseen from anyone besides Allah SWT. However, if someone did not know that it was prohibited, Islam takes into account the principle of ignorance (unintentional lack of knowledge). In such cases, once a person becomes aware of the ruling, they should repent sincerely and avoid such practices in the future. Allah is All-Merciful and Forgiving, and He accepts sincere repentance. The important thing is to recognize the mistake and seek Allah's forgiveness. Remember, the doors of repentance are always open as long as we seek it with sincerity and a commitment to avoid repeating the sin. JazakAllah khair for asking, and may Allah guide us all to what is right
