The 1 year old cake smash is a thing here in the US. Usually the child gets a small cake to get into. Then another for everyone else.

Mama advice for Dancer Mary. Similar to Brad and Tracy.. I'd say go for it, you have the drive and passion and to make it in the damce industry this is so important. You can work on your flexibility, you can work on your technique and youre still young, but also have that back up plan as Brad said. My daughter was never a natural dancer, doesnt have great feet, wasnt naturally flexible, but she was passionate and worked hard. She was also very smart and took all the academic subjects at school. After school she started a biomedical science degree when an opportunity came up for her in the dance industry overseas. Realistically dance is not a long term career unless you're looking at teaching, so i advised her to go for it. You have all the time in the world to come back and finish your degree. As it turned out the overseas opportunity sucked big time.. she was miserable.. but she had that back up. She came home and finished her degree and is now looking at phd options in molecular biology while still teaching dance a couple of nights a week.
Bottom line.. follow your dreams, work hard, dont be too fixated on a single outcome, and things will fall into place 💕

I'm from Utah, and we do the cake smash for our kids' first birthday. I think it's a universal thing. My son just turned 18, and I made a joke that we should have had him smash another cake for entering into his first year of adulthood.
