The double ended mantles are used on Coleman High Performance (Northstar, Nova) lanterns as well as compact lanterns. In this latter case the mantle surrounds the burner instead of the burner being at the end.
@@cutlersantiques6700 hello sir, l passed up a chance to grab a North Star years ago,if memory serves it was a liquid fuel, just didn’t look right to me,not old enough I guess, but after watching your video I thought if I found one I’d give it a try.. went garage sailing this morning and found one, propane,no case, good shape….he wanted a dollar for it….. so thank you sir.
I just bought my Coleman, Northstar 2500 off E Bay and it has an electric ignighter..open the fuel knob all the way then press in and it will click and light...
I still have mine that I bought new when they first came out. I have the amber lenses because the clear was too bright for the fish shack. Just like the twin Coleman mantels don't like shock!! So, one time use if you travel with it.
@cbayless4294 I don't have a plastic case . I haven't lost a mantle since I been doing this ....> cardboard box with scrunched up newspaper >sides with about 5in underneath ! give it a try mate and see how your mantles go ... I'm not sure if these mantles will be available in say 5 plus years ?
Happy birthday from Ireland. Another great find !

On some lanterns there is an adjustable Allen nut underneath the control knob,it might give more leeway on brightness.. worth a look.
I will definitely check that out!

You are welcome, and what a good deal for a dollar, you can't beat that!

Mine does not have the igniter, my guess is it may be a little older?

You can buy the Northstar mantles from Ollies for $2.99 a 2 pack. They’ve got a ton of them. Maybe there is an Ollies near you.
what state is Ollies in?
10:08 have you seen a Tilley or Vapalux before? They are 2 fixing mantles😎
Only in pictures, never had one in my hands!
Maybe put the vent in a pot of boiling water?
