All metal doesn't display vdi numbers like discrimination mode. It's displays the ground mineralization. Can't remember the actual name but it's a number that relates to the ground more than the target.
@@shawnmiller7340 I have one of these and all- metal mode does display numbers but they're different for the same thing depending on what mode you're in. I'll have to look at the instructions again to clarify. I guess experience is going to be the biggest teacher with these things.

I think I will like it and it will be a nice option but I'm looking for something with more tones for coin hunting. Thinking about getting an equinox in the spring.

I'm thinking if I had a single bit of gold, I could check the numbers and other readings to settle this question once and for all: what is the sound and number of gold in either mode? Believe it or not, although we've assayed material from our property at 14 grams per ton, I don't have a single damned piece of gold big enough for the job! I'm interested mainly in gold so I should buy or borrow some real gold to get those numbers. I also like the detector for other stuff but we live on an old farm and you can imagine all of the stuff laying around or buried. Lead slugs, to my dismay, sound exactly like gold from what I'm told but I want to see it for myself. Finding a gold nugget around here would be like trying to find your way back to your seat at a concert if you're half baked and, God forbid, were stupid enough to go to the bathrooms without a partner. Strength in numbers. :) I'm rambling again.
Ignorance is bliss. Thats not gold nugget. Its probanly meteorite or has some other metal in it. Other than the BS he's trying to sell ...the fisher gold bug IS a decent detector.

I noticed that in all metal mode you were getting a 7 and in discrimination, the 40's 50's. I don't understand why the numbers are so different.
