The series RETURNS! This one has been requested SO many times so it was truly only a matter of time before we got to work on it! Tiana will be the first of three new villains in December and I am so excited to finally get to show you what we've been working on!
BIGGEST thank you to the GORGEOUS @TajFaerie for agreeing to voice Tiana in this song! When I first thought about making this song I could literally hear no one else singing her part and you are such a talent! Thank you for singing with me! Thank you also to the musical genius that is Ben Tomalin, you always blow me away with your arrangements! and to @sarahsworks for the GORGEOUS animatic, your art style is out of this world!
✨ TIANA'S VILLAIN STORY ✨
In this story, we follow the events of the film ‘Princess and the Frog’ as they usually play out. Tiana begins the film working hard and finally getting to the point where her dream is a reality with her restaurant finally in her grasp, only for it to be ripped away from her moments later, leaving her back at square one. She attends a party at her friend Charlottes where she wishes on a star and kisses a frog and goes on an adventure with her new friends.
We get to the ending act of the film, and this is where everything changes. Tiana is offered a deal with the shadowman, return his talisman and he’ll grant her everything she ever wanted. She’ll have her restaurant, the dream her father passed down would finally become a reality. All she’s ever strived for would be within her grasp. At this point Tiana is at war with herself, to return the talisman would curse Naveen to a life as a frog forever, but if she didn't take it she might never achieve all she has wanted. In the original tale she refuses the deal, but this is a villain story and she hasn't worked so hard and for so long to refuse an offer that granted her all her heart's desires for a boy.
And so Tiana makes the deal.
She becomes human again and returns home to find a letter letting her know that the restaurant was hers, along with a hefty donation in compensation for any trouble caused. Tiana signs her best friend Charlotte as her business partner and together they build an empire, creating hundreds of jobs and bringing in visitors from far and wide.
Charlotte has always been a kind soul at heart, she feigns a desire for success and material wealth but truly all she wants is for her loved ones to be happy. And so when Tiana’s sights continue to rise and she begins to lose herself to her ambition, hurting those around her to get what she wants becomes a norm. And Charlotte refuses to see her best friend walk any further down that path.
But Tiana is too far gone, her ambitions have blinded her and she needs more. After all, that’s what her father wanted, he wanted her to succeed, he wanted her to build this empire, didn't he? She can’t stop now, not when she has come this far. And so when an offer is made for a new restaurant, 5 times the size of any she's had before, she jumps at the opportunity. And when she was told that making this restaurant would push dozens of families out of their homes? It doesn't even faze her. Tiana won’t stop moving forward and if people get in her way then they’re collateral.
Once you’ve made a deal with the shadowman there is no turning back, and she’s almost there.

I find it interesting that even if Tiana turn dark that Lottie doesn’t fear her really or extremely. Instead she seems to be more sad about what Tiana have become and that she is losing her. I also like how Tiana doesn’t hurt Lottie even if she disagree with her….I don’t know if I misinterpret it a little but that doesn’t change what a great animatic it is again😄
Yeah I'm glad that she let Lottie go. At first I was scared that she was gonna turn her into a Frog but instead she just lets Lottie walk out the door. I guess that somewhere in Tiana's heart knew that she still loved Lottie and so she just lets her leave.

I agree. It also seems like Tiana is saddened a bit at the end when Lottie walks away, as if a part of her feels regret over her evil plans costing her her dearest friend.

I kinda got the vibe that Tiana was trying to talk Lottie into joining her, and while willing to bluff that she would hurt her if she refused, she wasn't able to actually go through with it.
It’s interesting how realistic Tiana is compared to the other princesses since they are using magic for revenge, being psychologically manipulative or declaring war on everyone while Tiana… is being a ruthless businessperson and doesn’t hurt those who care for her meaning she could be redeemed unlike the rest.

Idk it could mean she's worse... I mean hear me out, no she's not hurting those closest to her but she's willing to hurt innocent people instead and it shows her bulldozing the bayou creatures(also innocent). Meanwhile the others use the magic for revenge against people who actually hurt them (Mulan/shang&China,Anastasia/Russia,etc). Wouldn't that mean they had more motive to become evil?? Whereas Tiana CHOSE to become evil simply for money/restaurants 😅😂 idk just a thought

I find it curious how in the end Tiana doesn't even seem happy, being a good parallel with one of the messages of the movie "wanting and needing are not the same."
Tia may have everything she wanted, but she was left without what she really needed.

I don't really agree with that. The movie literally made her quit her dream while her two most loved ones SAYING HER TO GO FOR IT. She was never obsessed. Never worked herself to death or neglected the people on her life. Hell Navil was A okay for her to fulfill her dream. The all 'you need to get married!' Bullshit of the movie was the worst part while the characters themselves are genuinely delightful
@@berilsevvalbekret772i always saw it as "Opposites attract" and having a healthy balance in life. Kinda like Blu and Jewel's love story in Rio. And lets be real, Tiana definitely overworked herself. If the "Down Here in New Orleans" montage was more realistic, rather than 2 seconds of sleep after the night shift to day shift, she'd probably only sleep for 4 hours a night on a GOOD day. Her real loved ones didn't want her to give up completely, but I'd say her mom in particular didn't want her daughter to suffer like James just to get that dream, have time to enjoy life and loved ones.

Lets be real a little overworked for a black girl in 1920s New Orleans is a pretty good situation. I just hate the MOVIE made her give up when people in her life are more than okay to help in any way they can. That was peak disney bullshit. They need to remake this movie AS ANIMATION. Tiana is my favorute Disney princess. Alongside Mulan and Rapunzal. Is mirabel a princess?

Really matches well with the message at the end of Facilier’s song “You got what you wanted, but you lost what you had”.
Tiana casually putting her dad’s picture away in a drawer really shows how little he really has to do with her current plans, even though she claims she’s doing it for their old dream. I’m surprised Tiana let Charlotte leave without hurting her, but I suppose there isn’t much Tiana thinks she could do to stop the business from growing at this point.
That’s probably a mistake on her part…

Initially, Tiana having a picture of her dad was a way for her to honor her dad and maintain her loving bond with him.
But as you said, as she became more ambitious in her greed, Tiana has gone from fulfilling her dad’s dream to expanding her business empire, so her dad’s picture no longer holds that same meaning to her.
I think that closing the drawer, thereby shutting her dad’s face away, may also be her way of avoidance-not wanting to look at her dad’s face and possibly dwell on the thought that her dad would never have wanted her to become this monster.
right I can imagine a scene where she holds it and says "Hard work where did it get you anyway? 6 feet under into early grave." and just chucks it into the drawer.
The backstory that Lydia makes for every villain princess song is like a HUGE cherry on a top of a wonderfull and beautiful desert

What's more I can see how it works. She gets rebuffed by the system one too many times, and somehow falls into the orbit of Dr Facillier. Being smarter than he is, she learns how to Voodoo, but doen't let herself go into hock too far. She uses it homeopathically, a corrupt official has an 'accident', and opposition to her restaurant vanishes, a realtor who was holding out for an excessive price falls ill and dies of natural causes, and it just so happens that in his papers there's evidence he closed a deal with Tiana to sell her the building at a bargain price... The Loa get the souls, and Tiana reaches her goals.

I like the look Tiana has when Lottie closes the door, at first she’s smiling but then when the door fully closes she looks almost resigned, like knowing that this was her last chance to turn back and not lose the last person who loves her, but now she has no choice left but but to move further into the darkness. It gives a sense of tragedy, but the choices were always hers. The first time you compromise on your ethics, the easier it becomes to do so. And now it has left her all alone with the last person she loved leaving, with her only company being the darkness.
I voted on your poll for Luisa having a villain song, but this really good too. I hope we can hear an evil Surface Pressure cover soon. Although I’m not sure what a villain song for Tinkerbell would be, since she can’t be understood by humans.
Have you ever thought of doing a Lion King Nala villain song, the song being Shadowlands from the Broadway show? That could be interesting.

I think a Tinkerbell villain song would be her succeeding in killing Wendy, and being consumed by rage when Peter shuns her for it.

Yup. Someone born of privilege wants to throw away priviledge from everyone while someone who "worked their butt off" went on to build something more grand. Even if it isnt appreciated by the first one because it's "same old hat" they've been at a distance with, the second person has something which is THEIRS and isn't going to throw that away.
I love this version of Tiana. I can picture an offscreen breakingpoint where she never got to bid higher for her chosen place where she could open her dream restaurant because "A lil woman of your background. You're better off where you're at" and the fact that she's overworked herself but was always underminded made her seek out Facilier, who in turn made a deal that she accepted, but in return she got rid of everyone except for Lottie because she's never steered Tiana wrong and actually cared. Lottie being the sweetheart she is, wanted to save Tiana knowing this isn't her, that she's losing everything but at a large scale than before to get what she wants and the way Tiana shows Lottie the cards to persuade her that they can have a lavish life together where they are together (like they were as kids) omg chef's kiss. The animation, the voices and the way Tiana's smile drops when Lottie leaves, a small show that losing Lottie means she no longer cares that she's alone and that she's considered a monster. Ouch. The fact Tiana even let Lottie go, shows that she still cares and mattered enough in the end, Tiana valued their friendship enough not to hurt her for leaving like everyone else. Poor poor babies. They were almost there 😢😢💚

Honestly seems fair enough. She's finally getting revenge on the white people, but of course she's a villain for it because she's black.
I lovehow Lotties color as a kid changes into a softer looking pink when shes older, like shes gotten more softer and less greedy. While Tianas softer green changes into an almost toxic like green to show that she's gotten colder and more greedier, etc!! (Dont know if that's actually what they mean but thats what I see)
Also the way the green smoke that is around her, alost unconsciously emitting off of her, reminds me of the green smoke the shadowman emits!! Like, the only reasonshes at the point she is now is bc of black magic!

I would say she almost definitely uses voodoo for her evil purposes and thus became more like Facilier than Mama Odie. There is one scene where it shows the skull on her face which probably means she has sold her soul to get her power.

I love the idea, that after Facilier died, Tia took the offer of the Loa to gain everything she wanted.
The Loa played smart by sacrificing and rightfully punishing Facilier who was too small to ever repay his enormous dept. They got a new "friend" who can better fulfill those promises.
Tiana doesn't just have the power of friends on the other side... SHE HAS THE POWER OF CAPITALISM
(jokes aside, I loved the song, congratulations Lydia and Sierra)
This is such a sad version of the story between the two characters, but I love it all the same…your voices fit the characters so well and the animatic is amazing 🙌🏻
I do like how Lottie seems to have matured in this song.
She felt for her childhood friend. She tried to get through to her.
While canon Lottie would have tried to get to her as well. This Lottie, has a sense of maturity.

I have a soft spot for Lottie so I was happy to see her feature here! Her and Tiana's relationship was my favorite part of the movie - the two of them were definitely my favorite characters, aha. So seeing them feature so heavily, was very cool to see!
Also! I love the sort of echo on Tiana's voice? And that last lines delivery was amazing, too, along with the animation for it where her smile fell. Chills!

This is simply amazing! I love it so much. The mashup of the different songs from the movie feels so natural and engaging, and I love how the tone shifts when Lottie and Tiana take the lead. I appreciate how you let Charlotte shine, I personally still feel she was robbed of a song in the original movie.
Tiana being the villain and finally snapping is an interesting concept that brings so many possibilities in reflecting her character! Now all the positive attributes of her (determination, bravery, smartness) are twisted and serve the path of destruction.
And how beautifully does Tiana contrast with Charlotte? No words, only applause. The artist did an incredible work of showing how the two friends have fallen apart despite still caring about each other.

This song is so unique compared to the other princess villain songs, with the back and forth between the characters. This just makes me more excited for the potential Rapunzel sequel with Alex as Eugene!
The desperation of feeling like all your hard work is wasted and never enough can be an easy slope to fall off of into greed and apathy toward those around you. Tiana had her life's efforts thrown in her face and when shown an easier way to get everything she wanted it was an easy sell. There's a tragedy on thinking she is doing what her father wanted while missing the values that were there to begin with. The sense of community is gone and she's willing to disregard everyone, even Charlotte once she decides to walk out.
Charlotte has always been the friend people want. She may be spoiled, but she has a good heart and cares about people just as much. We saw it in the movie and that is very much clear here as well. She sees all that Tiana is doing and wants to stop her, not just for how it is affecting other people, but to try to save Tiana from herself and her friends on the other side. Unfortunately, there comes a time when you see you can't help someone that doesn't want to be saved, so she has to leave Tiana as much as it hurts to do so.
You and Sierra were wonderful, really dripping with charisma all throughout and displaying a lifetime of friendship for Tiana and Charlotte even as it broke down.
Was not expecting for Charlotte to be singing as well or the switching between songs from the movie, but this was so good!
I noticed a fun little detail. When Lottie picks the papers up, in the top left corner, you can see a frog in a cage. Poor Naveen

Wow this was incredible and this was the first song I that I really felt bad for someone other than the villain cause Lotti really was a pretty good friend and just didn’t want her to go down this path, but it speaks volumes even when she was threatened, neither of them actually hurt eachother

As for who I'm hoping to see next, from DISNEY I'd say: Esmeralda, Pocahontas, Tinkerbell or Wendy (!) and *maybe* the Blue Fairy (from Pinocchio). If animated series can be included, then Elena (Elena of Avalor) would be very interesting to see!!
But since Anastasia made an entrance, now I'm also hoping to see: Thumbelina, Odette (Swan Princess) and Crysta (Ferngully)

HEAVY on THE Elena of Avalor. Ion care of it was to unlock her final powers, her and the rest of the family was too quick to forgive Esteban by the end of the show for me. I think they still could've kept him at a distance but still show their love for him, if not complete forgiveness
@@veronicalodgesawyer3099 Okay, while I'm happy we agree that a villain Elena would be interesting, I must say that I heavily disagree about Esteban. On the contrary, I think Elena and Luisa were too stubborn and held on to their grudge unfairly. Were they right to feel betrayed and angry? SURE. But what the series fails to highlight is that Esteban *was* punished already, he spent 41 FREAKING YEARS as Shuriki's puppet; and that he helped her first and foremost because he was scared she would invade Avalor after his Uncle foiled her invasion plan on another country and Elena's dad didn't listen when he tried to warn him about the danger, information that comes way too late imo because it's SO important and telling about his character. 41 years is a goddamn long time, and it's always swept under the rug because they don't want to shock or depress the audience with the truth of it; and the courage Esteban showed when he pulled Shuriki's wand out of her own hands, not many people have the courage the stand up to their abuser, and in his case, someone who had a strong grip over him for 4 decades and who still had the upper hand when it happened! Honestly, even IRL this kind of case is really hard to judge, it's hard to find something fair for all parties.
Also, I believe Elena's final test was more: will Elena keep holding on to her grudge even after Esteban sacrificed his life for her? Refuse to see how he kept protecting her and trying to reach out and that she was the one who kept rejecting him? If she didn't forgive him, it would also imply that she refuses to see her own mistakes and her family's, who made him feel like an outcast, just like Luisa does in the Mother's Day episode; she refuses to admit that she neglected him although it took her a decade to notice her grandson wasn't in the portrait and even if she asked a guard, she did fail to notice a kid was missing, they were 4 grown adults and none of them noticed, Esteban was still new so what was it foreshadowing for when he became old news. It's not the cliché (Christian) "Can I forgive him?", but more "Can I admit I was wrong? Can I strive to see things more objectively and not get too blinded by my own thoughts and needs and feelings? Can I see that sometimes I get so wrapped in myself that I fail to see the big picture/what others need from me?"
Sorry for the unprompted Novel, but it's something that always bugged me in the series, Disney bit more than they could chew with choosing a gap so long and didn't treat how full of PTSD and trauma Esteban would be after that ^^; . It's a miracle he didn't have a breakdown in the first season and just ended up like a shell-shocked soldier.
@@CelticSaemi the way I see Esteban is that with the invasion, he knew full weight of his actions, while the surviving family did not. And I just think that while young, Esteban was very foolish for thinking Shuriki would keep her promise about not harming his aunt and uncle, especially when he already knew that kind of loss. They had another cousin that basically pulled the same thing, and Esteban was still quiet. They had been reunited for at least a year by that point. He lied directly and by omission, letting them pile up every time somebody who knew the truth about that day showed up. Some people are truly unforgivable. As for Esteban, that's why I said not by the end of the show's timeline, but at some point in the future. It's the additional betrayal that makes it worse. Hard to atone without full accountability. Not dogging your side, I'm just seeing it as longer healing time

Esteban definetely should have told them the truth indeed, at the end of "Secret of Avalor" at the earliest. But I can understand how difficult it must be, especially when he must have thought "I'm finally free! And my family is back!" Not something you want to give in so soon. And for believing Shuriki... yeeeah, the naive arrogance some teen can have; he probably played negociator and really thought he made a deal. But look at Victor, even now an adult and after being betrayed and banished, he believes it's gonna be different 42 years later 😂
reason number 28363 why charlotte needed a song in the movie:
Reformed Villain
in 2:50 Tiana realized that what she was doing was wrong, and this is wasn't what his dad would wanted and if she keep moving forward she might lose Charlotte.
This is an amazing song (as usual), and the visuals are top notch! I also like your story, with Charlotte being the "angel" on Tiana's shoulder is inspired, and something that I wouldn't have thought of. However, rather than her just "being a kind soul at heart hidden under a materialistic veneer" I think a slight modification would make more sense. To put it simply, Charlotte isn't running necessarily on (just) compassion, but grief as well
Let me explain. In the original movie, it is pretty clear that the shadowman doctor's plan for getting the money was for the prince to marry Charlotte, then use a voodoo doll of Charlotte's father to kill him and have the fake prince (and Charlotte by extension) inherit all the money. The plan was stopped by the marriage ceremony getting disrupted and the disguise being revealed before the marriage could be completed. This leaves Charlotte "high and dry" but basically unharmed with her father still alive.
However, in this new timeline, Tiana makes the deal before the reveal of the deception, and the deal prevents people from realizing the fake prince is fake. As such, the doctor is able to fulfill the plan and kill the father, ensuring everyone gets the money. In the song visuals there is no indication of the fake prince so we could claim that either the prince "vanished" with the servant showing up, or the charade is maintained and the fake prince ignores Charlotte now that he has the money. Either way, Charlotte would have lost her father and her husband to what appears to be wealth. Also, Tiana is shown to be pretty intelligent, so she could figure out that the deal killed her best friend's father, and Tiana could have the added motivations drowning her guilt in work and an "in for a penny" mindset to explain why she is willing to continue using voodoo.
Because of what's explained above, Charlotte looks at her best friend putting more and more of herself into work, while losing her morals to ensure it is the best. Having already lost a husband due to greed (and maybe viewing her father as having died from overwork), Charlotte would see Tiana as going down the same path as those she had lost, and would be unable to take part in it anymore, which forces the "work or me" setup that you have shown in the video.
But let me get off my revision soapbox. What do you (and the rest of the UA-cam) think?

Tiana as a villain? I'm so going to see that :-). I also have several ideas for evil princesses songs, if you like:
1. Alice's version for "I'm Odd" (ua-cam.com/video/LuKkMH_7nBw/v-deo.html), where she comes back to Wonderland as an adult and takes over the place in a violent uprising just so she won't have to leave in the adults world anymore. The results of Alice's violent PTSD will be so brutal that even Cheshire Cat won't smile.
2. A cover for "Queen of Mean" by Princess Audrey from "Descendants 3". The same story, but with your voice.
3. Esmeralda singing "Hellfire" about phoebus. In this version, Esmeralda didn't really love Phoebus. She was mostly attracted to him because he's handsome and hated him for doing Frollo's bidding at the same time. Her plot to burn down all of Paris will be a complicated way to strip Phoebus of his ranks and force him to choose her over his own people. If you'll go for it, i can write the lyrics.

Lottie is my favorite princess for this exact reason, I know this is just ur idea of the princesses but I fully believe Lottie would be more sad than scared of her friend. Her kindness thru the movie shows her cares for her friend but also everyone around her. They try their best to fit in each other's shoes, but it was simply to different.
The optimistic friend can't accept the coldness, the harsh reality, while the other one is disgusted by the naivety of her counterpart.
Eventually they clash, and one side is destroyed, leaving a bitter tasteless victory in their mouths.

I think this one is my favourite villain song, and it's in no small part to the duet. Seeing how someone reacts to the main character turning villainous is a delicious extra touch.

I LOVE THIS AU OMG! And I love that it was a duet between Charlotte and Tiana! It was so sad to see Charlotte watch her best friend become a villain, but know that there's nothing she can do about it. Also this gave huge sapphic energy, to the point where I was expecting at one point for Charlotte to cut off Tiana with a kiss! And I like as well that Tiana had on her princess dress at the end of the movie. Hmm...
Lotties “you’re almost there” for me holds double meaning, Lottie means she’s almost to her goal but she’s also almost losing all the good in her, while Tia only cares about the goal
